1. 5/5Some good, some bad

   Overall it's easy to use and laid out well. There are a few things that frustrate me though. One thing is that I can't set a down payment amount, I can only do a percentage. That obviously changes if you're looking at houses that are listed for different amounts. So if you're trying to see the estimated monthly payment, you have to constantly adjust the down payment. I have a set amount of money to put down, whether that's 20% or 30%, that'll depend on the price of the offer, and I would assume many people are in a similar situation. Also, the Feed part just makes no sense. I have one saved search, so that should be the parameters set for the feed. 3+ bed, 2+ bath, minimum 1,500 sq ft within a 30 minute radius of one city is what I have set. Fairly basic house. Yet my feed is constantly filled with 2 bed, 1 bath with smaller sq ft, and they are coming up from all over the place, a lot from 2.5-3 hours away, up to 4.5 hours away. You can toggle off specific cities, so I'm constantly turning off cities but more and more pop up. I click on a lot of them when they come up because I literally have no idea where they're at, and once I see how far away they are, I go in and toggle the city off. So I don't know if because I click on it, that triggers them to send me more that are super far away, even though I keep turning them off. I also have pending houses turned off, yet several that show up that are pending. Finally, it will send notifications of "recommended" houses, but many "exact matches" are not sent. None of it makes sense and it's very frustrating.

2. 5/5Redfin - Greatest Realtor experience

   I sold my home with Redfin a year ago and had an exceptional experience. Redfin is a tremendous value, as one of the most popular real estate apps and websites, selling your home here allows you to reach by far the most buyers, and have advanced and transparent data at your fingertips on how the showings and buyers perceive your home. At the same time, Redfin chooses to offer a tremendous value in only charging a 1.5% seller commission. Truly for their ability to reach hundreds of thousands of buyers every day they could probably charge higher, but their whole approach has a company is volume and cost benefit to the consumer. It’s amazing to me that everyone isn’t using Redfin, and only tells you how corrupt the legacy real estate community is in continuing to charge double the fees while not even using the latest technology. This monopoly was recently overturned by the NAR lawsuit and I’m hopeful that more sellers and buyers will see the obvious benefits of Redfin. Real estate is in desperate need of disruption and the cost to sell and buy homes are far too high. Go with Redfin and you can take one step towards, advancing the real estate industry to a smarter and more technology enabled community.

3. 4/5Pricing sort is driving me nuts!

   I used to love this app but am ready to drop it just because of the pricing sort. I get it has some glitches but I can live with those. THIS glitch, I simply can’t because it affects the entire experience of looking for a home. Each time the search refreshes itself, I have to remind the app to apply the sort order I’ve already selected (Low to high pricing) because the sort is now in some Redfin preferred order. Of note - when you go to change the setting, it still says it’s in low to high pricing sort order (untrue) since the houses are not listed that way. To fix it, I have switch the order to high to low or any other sort, go back to the app to “awaken” sort , then go back again to sort settings and switch to low to high and then back again to the app for the sort to actually reset itself to my preferred sort. Using the map - Imagine you move your search 5 miles east - you have to repeat the above process again because the home results are no longer listed in low to high pricing. In one 15 min use of the app, I have to repeat this insane reawaken and reset sort order several times! It tells me the designers don’t actually use their app. Incredibly annoying especially since it used to work properly a while back!! FIX IT please!!

4. 5/5Overall a helpful tool

   Redfin is a good app. Simple, transparent, and with good filters to narrow down real estate search. It falls short of a 5-star app because of two strange behaviors: 1. It doesn’t let you view all the homes for sale in a city based on Great Schools rankings. You have to zoom into a very small area for school-based filtering to apply. Until then, the filter simply doesn’t work. The way I like to do property searches is to look at an entire city (or custom area), filter on Great Schools ranking 8+, and then play around with the resulting options. The app doesn’t let you operate that way. 2. In select cities such as New York City, it requires that you re-enter your password to view the complete listing. Even after re-entering, the app takes you back to the restricted version of the listing as if you still haven’t entered the password. You need to kill the app and re-open it immediately to see the unrestricted listing. It’s a pretty annoying bug that affects me almost every session.

5. 1/5I’m Banned From Redfin!!! X-P

   Sooooo. My husband and I had a so-so experience with a Redfin agent. When they sent me their survey, I was honest. They apologized and we never saw that agent again. Cool. Got assigned to another agent. Not really happy with him- he was nice at first, but once he understood we needed a unique property- one that’s a little harder to find in our area- he seemed put out. He made it clear he was super busy selling multi-million dollar houses. We eventually found a house we wanted in the 500’s range. We told our new Redfin agent we wanted to make an offer. We asked him to research the market, talk to the selling agent, and get back to us. He never called back. He completely ghosted us. So, when the next survey came, I was honest, again. I deleted the app and moved on. I had no interest in using Redfin after trying to make an offer and being completely ignored. But....we kept looking for houses on our own, and eventually found another one we really liked. My husband asked me to give Redfin another chance. I downloaded the app again, and we met up with a new agent. When we decided to make an offer on the house, the agent suddenly apologized and said we had been banned from working with any Redfin agent, and could not buy a property through Redfin. Because of an “undisclosed incident.” Ok...... So, folks, don’t expect to be taken seriously by Redfin unless you plan on dropping over a million on a property, and you’d better be prepared to buy the first property you look at, so you don’t waste their time. If you write a less than glowing review, expect to be banned.

   There is no point in having a "hide" option if you're going to keep bringing those same selections over and over. Also, despite having followed directions NOT to have houses for sale, I still get daily notifications for them. In short, the app is good for a broad selection of choices, but narrowing them down only works by adding to favorites. Which is fine, but the same results keep popping up over and over.
