2. 1/5Too easy for SCAMMERS

   I’ve been desperately searching for a home for my family (especially to relocate my mother from 2000 milles away) and recently a man asked if I was interested in touring HIS property. I saw photos and loved it. He selected a time for my tour and I agreed. He asked me to inform him when I was on my way and then again when I arrived AT the property. When I did he informed me that I needed to download this app onto my phone in order to tour the property. I was mind blown that I was being expected to tour ALONE. I’ve never heard of such a thing. I did enjoy the flexibility of. It having to do it with someone (an owner or realtor) but it felt odd. Also, I told him I was interested in RENTING a property and he claimed that although he wanted to SELL his property he had having difficulty with that so CHANGED his mind and was offering me the opportunity to RENT. Only upon arriving at the property I noticed several stickers stating “THIS PROPERTY IS NOT FOR RENT! Beware of scams” I asked him about this (now aware of what was happening) and he again tells me that the stickers were old (because remember, he never INTENDED to “rent” HIS property and he hadn’t yet removed the stickers). He asked me to call / text him AFTER I finished my tour. I feel that although OPEN DOOR allows tour flexibility which is great, it ALSO allows for scammers to pull this sort of thing and it’s really upsetting.

3. 5/5Open Door is the Way To Go!!

   My daughter and her husband looked at a house listed by open door. We loved that we could go see it as often as we wanted as they were considering it. Nobody looking over your shoulder so you’re free to inspect inside the cabinets, toilets...all the places that are usually uncomfortable. They were listing their relatively new home as well at the same time and decided to check with open door on an offer and open door came in much higher than they were planning on listing their house through a real estate company. Within days, they accepted open doors offer, open door did the inspection, no repairs needed and their house was sold! 3 days, done. They put an offer in on the open door house, their inspector found a few minor issues, open door made the repairs the next day, sold! Open door is the way to go. Both houses done in under a week. Closing and Ready to move in within 15 days. Awesome

4. 1/5Don’t Use - Information Stolen

   I used Opendoor to look at one house, and while it was super convenient at the time to view the home without having to organize times with a realtor! I’ve been trying to delete my account for over two months now that I no longer need to use the Opendoor services. When I reach out to the support “staff,” I received nothing but privacy policy hyperlinks … links that are not helpful. No where does it talk about the steps to take to permanently delete an account, it also limits who can submit a policy request. There are a handful of US states excluded from the privacy policy protection and I reside in one of those excluded states, so nothing I’m receiving back from support “staff” is helpful and when I inquire about specifics for those excluded regions, nothing but the same hyperlink. For over two months, I’ve been emailing Opendoor and with no resolution or true assistance. Since creating my Opendoor account I have received an increase in spam calls and emails, credit cards opening under my name, and password reset emails from my social medias. Do not create an Opendoor account. I would not recommend this company to anyone. I will never use Opendoor again.
