1. 5/5Purple Carrot has made my life so much easier

   This service is irreplaceable to me. I’ve been using it for (2?) years now and I see myself continuing to for the years to come. The convenience of having ingredients for meals delivered weekly is unmatched. The food quality is always on point and the meal selection has gotten even better over that last few months. The app is easy to use and very intuitive. Highly recommend!

2. 3/5Typically a good experience

   Update: the mobile app is back up, but the interface is not as friendly as it used to be. I can’t tell which recipes are gluten-free unless I open each one. Pain! Their mobile app, was down for weeks. I had to use the website which is not nearly as user-friendly. Purple carrot is the best option if you’re looking for a vegan meal delivery service. Many delicious recipes to choose from. Occasionally, I will get ingredients that are not very fresh - bad lettuce or soft vegetables or slimy fresh spices - or they send a very small portion (the other day I received five little potatoes rather than the 11 it showed in the picture). As a fairly new vegan, I’ve enjoyed learning how to create new recipes and cook things that I never would have considered. Delivery has been reliable and good. They offer meal kits, premade meals, and groceries. it’s a great place to get some unexpected vegan ingredients and snacks. Their queso is the best I found, and we love the Tuscan sandwich meat.

3. 1/5Food is good, service is frustrating

   App could use a direct link to customer service. I contacted customer service four business days (6 days total) before my order was being delivered notifying them that an old address was being used. They let me know a one time courtesy update would be made but couldn’t guarantee the update. I also sent a customer service request directly to OnTrac the delivery service. It was still delivered to the wrong address. I was gifted a gift card and it’s just been a headache experience trying to get things sorted and I’ve been pro active with customer service. Redeeming the gift card wasn’t a smooth process which lead me to creating a duplicate account that started this mess. The app could offer more clear details like the address it’s being delivered to up front instead of hidden so I could’ve caught the issue earlier. Customer service team is responsive but the product needs help.

4. 2/5Good service, app needs a ton of work

   Every time I use this app I cannot believe how poorly designed it is. There’s no auto save when you make changes so multiple times I have customized my order only to receive the default picks I don’t want because it didn’t save. You can’t add the meal to your cart once you tap into the details even though you can change the servings in the detailed view. There are categories like quick prep and high protein but you can’t filter on those categories at all so you have to tap into each one to see. The app also isn’t optimized to phone size or something - things get cut off on the bottom. They also recently made the breakfast, lunch, and dinner meal kits separate tabs within meal kits which is annoying having to scroll back up to switch. App aside, I wish they’d stop sending a full head of garlic each time you need 1 clove. I have so much garlic at home, it’s ridiculous. The recipes are decently good but the prepared meals are VERY hit or miss. Also many of the pantry items have pictures with 3 items but you will only get 1 in your order which I find misleading. Customer service is generally good but warning once your order deadline is past you can’t change anything including holding an order back. I was unexpectedly out of town due to a death in the family and while they did give me credits for that whole order, they couldn’t stop the delivery so I had to have someone go to my place and put everything away for me which was a hassle. I enjoy the service and the easier recipes but please improve your app. I would love if you could add preferences to your account for the prefilled recipes so I can prevent accidentally getting the 45 min+ recipes cause that is not what I’m looking to take on with a meal kit service.

5. 4/5Mostly easy to use

   The app is mostly pretty easy to use to make weekly selections and view ingredients. It would be so much easier to find things if there was a way to search the grocery items, or at least sort them by category. It’s annoying to have to scroll through everything on the long list to hopefully find what I want. It would also be so helpful if we could rate each recipe (like 1-5 stars) for our personal use. I like being able to indicate favourites, but I would love to be able to see how much I liked a meal - or didn’t like it - in the past when I’m considering ordering that one again.
