1. 5/5ITS WORTH IT !

   This is me and my wife’s second order and we absolutely love it at first we were looking at the portions a little sideways but once we cooked it an eight we were actually full we didn’t feel like we had to have seconds we didn’t feel like we need to go grab a nighttime snack and then we made the realization that in reality they made us obese because they think that we have to eat until her stomachs are full and the reality of that is as we don’t and the portions that we think we need are over the portions that we need to consume this helps me and my wife tremendously I have ADHD and it’s hard going into store sometimes or even coming up with new things to cook. But Hungryroot has it down packed they give us things that last and things that fill us up with little to no effort they give you a recipe to go by and even if you wanna kind of change it up you can add things subtract things it’s all up to you once you grab and get the food I absolutely love this and if you are on a really really tight budget or if something has happened you can skip payments you can skip the meals and the deliveries if need be and you’re not charged or penalized in any way shape or form Hungryroot really is here for you to make cooking and making meal prepping easy it’s amazing and it’s worth it I hope you give it a try and I hope you love it !

2. 5/5Perfect for couples, saving a ton

   Hungryroot fits our lifestyle perfectly. We’re only two people (me and my boyfriend) and when we don’t feel like cooking we go out, but when we order groceries and decide to cook at home we end up wasting a ton of food! We’ve tried almost all of the food subscription services and found them lacking in some aspect. Hungryroot fits in so many ways that others don’t, and it’s more affordable than most others for us. The Hungryroot branded items are such good quality first of all and the meat is humanely raised which is important for us. The meals are interesting enough without being too weird for my boyfriend’s less adventurous palate. There are a ton of options for our vegan Wednesdays and vegetarian Mondays. So we’ll have a burger on one day, Korean bbq flatbread the next and then a lemongrass tofu green and grain bowl in the middle of the week. I like having high quality meals with no prep and no waste and lower carb with an emphasis on fresh veggies. Even when I don’t feel like cooking I can do these meals. The snacks are great and it’s fun to try them all out. The included quick breakfasts have saved us many times from having to just skip breakfast all together. Highly recommend this, as someone who is a chef and enjoys cooking but sometimes wants to phone it in when I get home.

3. 2/5Food came slimy and they changed my order last minute

   Hungry root is the first ever grocery box I’ve ever gotten, I figured why not try it out…I was a little scared when I had to pay for the box before even looking at any recipes, but I still paid and figured if I don’t like it I’ll just cancel. First off you can’t cancel your first box which is fine I get it…that’s how they get their money, but you can’t cancel any other boxes until like a week after you subscribe…weird…okay I wait that time and I go to cancel and the app wouldn’t let me cancel, so I had to go to customer service to get it canceled, at this point I’m pretty irritated but they get it fixed and I’m like okay whatever I’ll just get this first box and be done… THEN they ship the box, it’s literally on its way and all of a sudden I get a message saying they swapped something, WTF…they obviously swapped it before they sent the box out for delivery so why tell me now that I can’t do anything, I have to speak to customer service again and get a tiny refund, okay cool Then I receive my box and it’s covered in slime from the ice packs being stabbed a couple times, it was SO incredibly gross, and the serving sizes seem a little small for trying to feed myself and a grown man. Long story short I’m trying to talk to customer service AGAIN… will not be getting another box, the only reason it got 2 stars and not one is because customer service seemed on top of it getting back to me within the day/ few hours later.

   By far the best meal delivery company I’ve used. One of the aspects that makes this one superior for me is being allowed to edit the ingredients in the recipe. I’m able to remove any ingredients in the recipe that I don’t want or that I already have on hand in my own kitchen. This leaves me more points to use on other meals, grocery items or a more expensive meal. I also enjoy the suggested items that would complement the meal if I want to add any of them into my order. The app is user friendly. It didn’t take much for me to navigate it and I really enjoy choosing my meals for the following week. Another wonderful asset is filtering according to your dietary needs. High protein, low calories/carb/fat, low sugar, gluten free, paleo, etc… and only meals that fit your criteria will be left to choose from, thus decluttering your weekly choices. The price is a bargain really, saving time from meal planning, making a shopping list, fuel and time from shopping, fewer dirty dishes, less time in the kitchen for a high quality nutritious meal with no guesswork. Leaving time for the other important things in my life.

5. 2/5App needs so much work!

   I like Hungryroot but the app needs so much work. When I first started ordering from them the app was pretty decent. But the longer I’ve been with them it has just gone downhill with every update! (1) Many of the clickable buttons just look like circles and I can’t tell what it’s supposed to be. So if I’m wanting to add an ingredient or recipe I don’t see a plus (+) and minus (-) or trying to rate a recipe there is not a thumbs up or down. Just empty circles. It has been this way for the longest time and I kept thinking it was a glitch that would be fixed. (2) It also likes to recommend ingredients that “pairs well with” a recipe but then sometimes when I try to add it I just get error messages. Pretty sure it’s because the item is out of stock but it makes it look like it’s available when it’s not. (3) When I go to “frequency settings” I used to be able to see every ingredient and what I had it set to but now I can only see the same 6 ingredients and nothing more. (4) Once upon a time you could click on an ingredient and then choose an option to see recipes containing that item. It was a little bit glitchy but I still liked using that function but somewhere along the way they did away with that feature altogether and it would be nice if they bring that back and can make it work right! I could go on but you get the idea - please fix this app!!
