1. 4/5Great, Secure Calendar!

   Really enjoy this calendar and its security 👍 There are a few features that I wish would exist though. I’d appreciate a search option to be able to search for an event, instead of having to go through each Day until I find it. I’d also love it if it would remember events I’ve created in the past, so that it could auto-fill in some of the specifics for frequently added events (ie. the event location, notifications, which specific calendar). Lastly (and I think this might be a bug), I’d like it to remember how long I’ve set the duration for specific calendar events to be. For example, in settings, I’ve set my “work” calendar’s duration for events to be 120 minutes, but, no matter which calendar I select, it defaults to 30 minutes so I have to change it manually. *I generally use the app, so some of these may be available on a desktop browser, and if so, please let me know!* Overall, I like this calendar a lot, and offer these desires as I’d love to see them come into fruition to make my Experience more easeful. These are really just conveniences, but ones that I became used to when I used the apple calendar before. This is now my sole calendar and I’m very grateful for it! Appreciate all the effort that has gone into creating it and the security it offers ♥️

   Performs the basics with reminders, good visualization, location, and making it recurring. Missing the ability to share a calendar currently, which is currently being worked on. This is a core function of a calendar though, and should integrate better with their email services, even if these functions are restricted to other working Proton users. I hate to rate something down for a service it openly declares is not currently implemented, this is pretty central to a calendar app and is currently keeping me from fully migrating to Proton Calendar. The app also needs additional security found on Proton Mail and Proton Drive where it allows for the use of a password/pin and/or biometric on startup. Looking forward to the updates, and of course I will update my review when things change. edit: Thank you for the reply! I did not see sharing was an option since I primarily use the app on iOS. I will try it out from the PC see if I can share and then still update and use it from iOS. Not ideal, but at least a work around.

   I am a Proton Unlimited subscriber because I love the platform and their commitment to privacy. Pros: -Simple/attractive UI -Solid basic calendar features Cons: Requires a little extra effort and a few workarounds to tailor this calendar to your personal needs. Birthdays: -automatic Integration of birthdays from our contact lists is preferable here but still notably not an option. Workaround: -In the meantime, I just created a ‘Birthdays’ calendar and manually added each one myself. US Holidays: -Currently, there are a lot of holidays( of which I’m used to being alerted to via iCloud calendar) that are not included in this feature. Workaround: -I disabled Proton’s built in ‘Holidays’ calendar and created my own, manually inputting each one. Thankfully, you can add calendars from other platforms via URL (note that these cannot be altered in the Proton app and this feature has its limitations as it is not updated or synced in real time). Overall, Proton’s commitment to privacy and putting their users first as well as their continuous improvement to the platform, for the most part, alleviates any reservations I might have otherwise had. I didn’t mind putting in a little extra effort to tailor the app to my needs. That being said, I hope they continue to listen to user feedback and implement new features sooner rather than later.

   I’m new to proton. I just signed up and am starting to migrate my email to proton. I am trying to use the calendar but I’ve run into an issue. If I receive calendar invites in my email that are an attachment (such as an ICS file), there doesn’t seem to be any way to add them to my calendar. From the proton mail app there is no “add to calendar “ button. From the calendar app there is no import that I can find which allows you to import a downloaded file, and in iOS when you try to use the “share” button the calendar is not an option. This means the only way I can find to add some invites to my calendar is to manually enter the information. Ideally an “add to calendar” button should be available from the mail app, and a share extension should be available so you can receive a file/invite into your calendar. On the plus side: My wife and I are both migrating to proton, so it’s nice to be able to share the calendar with her and both of us to see the same events. I’m still new so as I use this more I can get a better opinion.

5. 3/5Usable, but everything is just a little bit worse

   Desktop Proton Calendar allows you to click to create an event and drag events around. It’s buggy, but functional. For some reason, this is impossible to do in the iOS version. The process of creating and managing events in iOS Proton Calendar is cumbersome, slow and frustrating. I have to click an event, click edit, click time, then click the time dial to type in a new time. To rearrange events, you have to do this every single time. It’s agonizing if you need to fluidly rearrange a schedule, because dragging events with your finger does absolutely nothing. Editing the time of an event is buggy. Occasionally, if I edit the time an event ends, it moves the time the event starts as well. If I’m accessing my calendar on my phone, it’s because I am needing to accomplish something quickly. I don’t have time to fight against my calendar interface. It’s impossible, currently, to browse years ahead or behind. You cannot schedule an event a year in advance unless you scroll endlessly in the event configuration windows on the date dial. This is all easier to do in the desktop version. However, I do not want to pull up my laptop to schedule a distant wedding invite or annual doctor’s checkup. I am a subscribed proton customer. I pay for 500gb of cloud storage. I use it religiously on windows, macOS, Linux and iOS. However, this makes me all the more frustrated that a paid service falls short of the freemium offerings from Google.

   good, but not there yet. I'd love to ditch outlook, but I should be able to rename categories (not just colorize), add attachments to events, and maybe address lookup to really replace it.

   Honestly the UI is great and the safety is better than any calendar on the market and as I am trying to move away from big american corporations this was a great app. The only thing missing would be tasks like on the Google calendar for example as it makes scheduling easier. It could also be a separate app idk

   This app is horrible. I transferred all of my events, including all of my family and friends birthdays. Several days later, I noticed all of my events were encrypted and I could not access them. Proton customer service was almost non-existent. I did some research online. Apparently, if you ever change your password, all of your events get encrypted and you get locked out. I finally got a response from Proton customer service, which simply stated there's nothing they could do.
