2/5App is not free, even if you pay hundreds of dollars for lens.
I just got the disappointing realization this is a tiny company wringing every dime out of their customers. Despite watching dozens of videos on Reeflex and their lens and apps, no one says anything about this app costing $20! And yes, you need a third party app to use the 240mm super zoom lens because the native Apple camera app will not let you use the 5x telephoto lens on the iPhone 16 Pro with the lens on. It thinks the camera is blocked and switches to the 1x lens. The upgrade message makes you believe that it’s the long exposure feature that you need to purchase but beware, it’s $20 just to use the app for any pictures beyond the first 10. This has gotten my relationship with Reeflex off to a bad start. Typically a company selling hardware will supply the software needed to use the hardware. Not so with Reeflex, they want to get you from both ends. I really hope I don’t have any problems with the hardware I just bought from them, companies that play games like this to get more money from their customers aren’t likely to provide good customer service. I think I should have thought more about going with Sandmark on this one.

There’s nowhere on their website to leave reviews (how convenient) so I guess I have to do it here. The lens I ordered showed up with two scratches on the surface. Website return policy says they don’t take returns or exchanges if the lens is “used”. Well how is someone supposed to know if there’s an issue without taking the lens out of the box and looking at it or using it?? When I ordered the lens it was over $300 USD. I’m fine with this because it does take amazing photos and I like the product aside from the defects. However I started getting spammed with emails from FedEx about having to pay a $50 duty/tax fee? There was absolutely nothing to indicate that there would be extra import fees when ordering the lens. If there had been I would’ve waited a little bit before ordering. Very scummy. Finally as for reviewing this actual app, it’s awful. Using Final Cut Camera with the lens = amazing video results. Using it with this app, something is broken. The lighting in the photos always looks terrible and it washes all the colors out. I’ve been trying to take photos of brilliant fall foliage in southern Appalachia and all this app has been making the trees look gray and lifeless. It doesn’t capture the color of anything that’s in front of you. Very strange. Need to find a different app to use.

5/5Fantastic full camera control!
What a great camera app! I normally don’t do reviews, but this app needs one. Fantastic full control of you iPhone camera. Can completely control your exposure triangle. From setting iso, to control of your shutter speed, it is in here. Focus peaking to get what you want as your depth of field. The best part I am having the most fun with is full control of shutter drag, from not only the 1-10 seconds the iPhone app does, but now you can go up to hours and beyond to full bulb mode. In bulb mode you have your choice of M mode for motion blur of cloud trails and smoothing water and L mode for light trails, star trails and light painting. I have not found another app that gives you as much as this one does to get you the most out of your iPhone camera. A MUST BUY for iPhone camera users.

5/5The Best Camera App in the store!!!
With the native app you can snap great photos and Apple has added some manual controls which is nice. BUT it’s got nothing on the Reeflex app, you have full manual control, oh and 98% of the app is FREE! The ONLY in-app purchase is $5-6 to unlock the long exposure feature. The UI is very easy to use and translatable to a DSLR. I picked up my sisters camera and was able to clack off a few nice pics. So if you’re like me and using your phone until you can purchase a real dedicated camera, Reeflex is the only photo capture app you need. Right off the rip you get focus peaking, zebra stripes and histogram. Pick which lens you want to use and select HEIF, Raw or ProRaw. Different grid options to compose your shots in creative ways. Flash and timer controls. I’m still blown away that all of that is free! Don’t feel silly and purchase other apps and then get sucked into more in app purchases. Download Reeflex and if you want to get creative with long exposure then spend the extra few bucks. But this is the only photo capture app I use!

4/5Good camera app
I like this camera app. I’ve been using it for over a month. There a lot of features to play with. It has the capability of shooting like a DSLR. The focus peaking, zebra stripes and histogram are helpful when capturing images. However, I do find that images that I thought were in focus, sometimes aren’t, even when using the focus peaking feature. I also find that the images sometimes are either too dark or blown out even though they look fine on the screen. Also, sometimes the images aren’t as crisp as the native camera app either. They tend to have a softer appearance. It doesn’t seem to take macro photos like the native camera app. You could, if you had an external lens kit. I’m going to continue to use this app to see if I can get it to work better for me. I would love for this to be my go to app for photography. I think there’s potential for this app to keep improving and adding options, like video taking and an external shutter button support. I was assured the external shutter button support was coming when I reached out to the reeflex team.

Version 3.5 introduces in-app Focus Stacking. Reeflex Pro Camera is the first app on the App Store that lets you capture a focus bracket and merge the photos directly in the app, with no desktop software required. Everything runs fast, locally on your iPhone, and privately on your device. Bug fixes: - Fixed front camera capture orientation, so saved photos now keep the correct orientation. - Fixed orientation mismatches when moving from landscape to face-up or face-down. - Fixed Torch Light Always On mode, so the torch now activates and stays enabled correctly. - Fixed a Zoomed Interface layout issue where the shutter button could overlap other controls. - Improved Focus Bracketing reliability so each selected focus distance is reflected correctly before capture.

          "body": "I just got the disappointing realization this is a tiny company wringing every dime out of their customers. Despite watching dozens of videos on Reeflex and their lens and apps, no one says anything about this app costing $20! And yes, you need a third party app to use the 240mm super zoom lens because the native Apple camera app will not let you use the 5x telephoto lens on the iPhone 16 Pro with the lens on. It thinks the camera is blocked and switches to the 1x lens. The upgrade message makes you believe that it’s the long exposure feature that you need to purchase but beware, it’s $20 just to use the app for any pictures beyond the first 10. This has gotten my relationship with Reeflex off to a bad start. Typically a company selling hardware will supply the software needed to use the hardware. Not so with Reeflex, they want to get you from both ends. I really hope I don’t have any problems with the hardware I just bought from them, companies that play games like this to get more money from their customers aren’t likely to provide good customer service. I think I should have thought more about going with Sandmark on this one.",

          "body": "There’s nowhere on their website to leave reviews (how convenient) so I guess I have to do it here. The lens I ordered showed up with two scratches on the surface. Website return policy says they don’t take returns or exchanges if the lens is “used”. Well how is someone supposed to know if there’s an issue without taking the lens out of the box and looking at it or using it?? When I ordered the lens it was over $300 USD. I’m fine with this because it does take amazing photos and I like the product aside from the defects. However I started getting spammed with emails from FedEx about having to pay a $50 duty/tax fee? There was absolutely nothing to indicate that there would be extra import fees when ordering the lens. If there had been I would’ve waited a little bit before ordering. Very scummy. Finally as for reviewing this actual app, it’s awful. Using Final Cut Camera with the lens = amazing video results. Using it with this app, something is broken. The lighting in the photos always looks terrible and it washes all the colors out. I’ve been trying to take photos of brilliant fall foliage in southern Appalachia and all this app has been making the trees look gray and lifeless. It doesn’t capture the color of anything that’s in front of you. Very strange. Need to find a different app to use.",

          "body": "What a great camera app! I normally don’t do reviews, but this app needs one. Fantastic full control of you iPhone camera. Can completely control your exposure triangle. From setting iso, to control of your shutter speed, it is in here. Focus peaking to get what you want as your depth of field. The best part I am having the most fun with is full control of shutter drag, from not only the 1-10 seconds the iPhone app does, but now you can go up to hours and beyond to full bulb mode. In bulb mode you have your choice of M mode for motion blur of cloud trails and smoothing water and L mode for light trails, star trails and light painting. I have not found another app that gives you as much as this one does to get you the most out of your iPhone camera. A MUST BUY for iPhone camera users.",

          "body": "With the native app you can snap great photos and Apple has added some manual controls which is nice. BUT it’s got nothing on the Reeflex app, you have full manual control, oh and 98% of the app is FREE! The ONLY in-app purchase is $5-6 to unlock the long exposure feature. The UI is very easy to use and translatable to a DSLR. I picked up my sisters camera and was able to clack off a few nice pics. So if you’re like me and using your phone until you can purchase a real dedicated camera, Reeflex is the only photo capture app you need. Right off the rip you get focus peaking, zebra stripes and histogram. Pick which lens you want to use and select HEIF, Raw or ProRaw. Different grid options to compose your shots in creative ways. Flash and timer controls. I’m still blown away that all of that is free! Don’t feel silly and purchase other apps and then get sucked into more in app purchases. Download Reeflex and if you want to get creative with long exposure then spend the extra few bucks. But this is the only photo capture app I use!",

          "body": "I like this camera app. I’ve been using it for over a month. There a lot of features to play with. It has the capability of shooting like a DSLR. The focus peaking, zebra stripes and histogram are helpful when capturing images. However, I do find that images that I thought were in focus, sometimes aren’t, even when using the focus peaking feature. I also find that the images sometimes are either too dark or blown out even though they look fine on the screen. Also, sometimes the images aren’t as crisp as the native camera app either. They tend to have a softer appearance. It doesn’t seem to take macro photos like the native camera app. You could, if you had an external lens kit. I’m going to continue to use this app to see if I can get it to work better for me. I would love for this to be my go to app for photography. I think there’s potential for this app to keep improving and adding options, like video taking and an external shutter button support. I was assured the external shutter button support was coming when I reached out to the reeflex team.",
