1. 5/5Great app, room for improvement

   I’d like to start off by saying that I absolutely love the step tracking features in this app. It’s like the perfect digital journal for my trips. There are just a few features that irk me when trying to use the newer features. I don’t understand why, if you can load predicted routes using roam to rio, we can’t just use the predicted route as an actual one in step tracking. I hate having to use the steps suggested when tracking is on, but the straight lines look sooo bad in the finished trip map. Why can’t I just say, “yes I took the exact route suggested by roam to rio, use that for the map”? The tracked steps are always random and sometimes skip major sections so it doesn’t follow our route. And I want to buy one of the travel books so badly because I spent so much time documenting my trip in this app that there’s no way I’m creating a book in another one, but the features to edit the layout are extremely limited. Only getting to fit 4 photos on a page with a 400 page limit is so hard! If I have a long trip or I want a more photos I’m unable to fit everything I want to show. I took a 2 month trip and was so excited to print the book only to realize that I’d have to pick like 4 photos for each step and they don’t fit onto the page very efficiently. I would gladly drop the $200 for a large travel book if I could actually control the page layouts. Finally, is there any plan to incorporate the 3D globe that androids have for the iPhone app. I love being able to look at all the steps on the globe on my friends phones but it’s just a flat, non-interactive map on the iPhone. Again, I love the app and I use it all the time, I just wish it had a few more features to make documentation easier.

2. 1/5Cannot get it to work for current trip!

   I’ve been traveling for a month and found out about this from a fellow traveler. It’s brilliant in concept but I cannot get it to track my current trip. It synced all of my trips from 7 years ago from my photos with all gps location details, and attached photos to those locations. But the point of me using it is for my current trip and it is just a blank slat. Does not import my photos, location, or dates at all. I’ve done everything I can think of, went into a deep dive in my iOS settings, went through the trip settings, my account settings, read through pretty much the ENTIRE help center, scoured Reddit, updated my phone, deleted my account and reinstalled it, restarted my phone etc and NOTHING WORKS!! It wants me to add everything manually down to the date I flew and the location I flew into and then the next place I stayed etc but at no point does it ever finally pick up in syncing to fill the info in. I ended the trips, restarted the trip, every thing I can possibly think of and NOTHING works. What is the point in using this for your friends and family to track your travels if it only syncs trip details after you arrive back home?!?! The only trips it syncs are ones where I’ve ended AND flown back to my home location. Otherwise this stupid thing is WORTHLESS and you might as well just post on social media because it will be endlessly less frustrating!!!

3. 3/5Cool but very bad photo suggestions / annoying to use

   I like the UI and visualization, but it is such a pain having to fight the app in order to add locations (which it renames to the county—who ever cares about the county? Just name the step the location you searched, like Grand Canyon should not be renamed to the county), then when you add photos the suggestions are always off and you have to manually look through photos. What it should do is look at your photos and suggest all the ones on that same date, even if they don’t have the geo location tag (DSLR photos). Entering in dates is also a pain, new step button for some reason always assumes you do it on a new day, so I have to go back and manually change that too. I’m sure if you use it to actively track new trips it works okay, but I’m frustrated with the experience of filling it in manually. It captured some of the trips I did in the past by analyzing my photos, but again renames all the locations to stuff nobody knows (it calls Muir Woods national monument by its county name) and will split trips into two sometimes, with no easy way to combine them. Features seem to be there but usability is lacking IMO, not really worth the effort (I did try a few other competitor apps and this is more features but still a pain).

   I absolutely love this app so far and you can tell because i NEVER write reviews for apps. I've been using a page on Notion to organize all my memories and photos, and while notion is amazing, this is so much better for keeping track of everything in my life i have been lucky enough to experience in my adventures and daily life. Beyond just traveling, which I unfortunately haven't been able to do much of yet, it is just so great for organizing my life. I have three big suggestions for improving the app, however. The first is that I really wish there was a gallery view option for the photos in each step. I really dislike that i have to scroll through all of the photos to see a specific photo or video i uploaded, and i think adding a option to see a gallery view of the photos would be great for instant access to all the memories. Additionally, I think it would be amazing if you could "collaborate" with others on the app for trips. I'm planning a trip with my friend to mexico soon, and it would be nice if there was an option to tag others or contribute to a shared trip. Finally, while i love the flags concept, I do think it would be a cherry on top to have a "digital passport" kinda thing, where you can flip through a (fake) passport of all your countries with their stamps and have them all in one place given that physical passports do expire eventually. Besides these, I love this app so far and i can't wait to keep using it!

5. 5/5Amazing travel journal!!

   I used to keep a handwritten travel journal, but now this app has made it way more convenient to journal about my travels because I don’t have to carry it around! This app is phenomenal! The ability to add things while you’re offline is such a lifesaver, I write entries while I’m commuting somewhere or in my free time without service. It’s much better than Instagram because its sole purpose is traveling. And having the ability to share and follow others is so much fun! My dad is currently in Asia and it’s so fun to see his steps along his journey because he would never participate in social media to post things. And it makes looking back on your travels way easier! The interface is super easy to use, and I love that it suggests steps based on photos you take in different locations. It really helps me keep track of my travel timeline. This app is so cool and I am so grateful for it!! The ONLY qualm I have is uploading videos longer than one minute haha. Other than that, I absolutely LOVE this app and have recommended it to all my friends when they go abroad. They also say they love it!

   needs to allow users to specifically choose locations on the map, or through Google Maps... because I visit a lot of small towns, ghost towns, hamlets and villages... and none of them show up in the in-app search.

   Living vicariously through this app has been fantastic. My sister has just returned from a 7 week motor home trip in Norway. I was able to enjoy her journey through this app, following her story through photos and commentary. I tell everyone about it.
