  1. 5/5Nostalgia for my inner seven-year-old (I’m 12 btw)

I’ve always loved the music on the Nintendo games such as super Mario odyssey (especially jump up superstar which I listen to a TON) and animal crossing, but no musical adaptation by another artist ever matched the real music in the games completely. Nintendo fix that problem with Nintendo Music. I love how since my dad has a Nintendo switch online family plan that I can listen to songs on this app. Honestly Nintendo should’ve done this before. I use the extended playback mode as my reading timer, usually with Daisy Circuit (fire course by the way, my fav <3) And if you’re reading this Nintendo, add lullabies of all of the songs for people like me who can’t sleep without music. Thanks so much for the app. Honestly, the jump up superstar music box version kind of made me want to cry a little bit because it reminded me of when my brother and I were younger and we would listen to Nintendo lullabies that sounded almost exactly like that song. Such a throwback to when my brother and I were younger and we would get up extra early on the weekends because it was the only time we were allowed to play the switch during the school year. Happy memories… *******update******* I tried the good night playlist and it’s so soothing when I’m reading before bed! Perfect for when I’m traveling and don’t have my echo dot (and at home just because lol) Thanks Nintendo!

  2. 5/5A great way to listen to VGM

I am pleasantly surprised by this app. It might sound silly to have an entire app for Nintendo’s music when plenty of others exist, but the app’s features are well made and actually work well with the kind of music on offer. Since video game music is meant to repeat, the app offers the ability to extend tracks instead of simply looping to the beginning. That sounds minor, but is honestly feels great, and I use it a lot. The sound quality is very good, every instrument is audible, and the chiptune music is crisp without sounding distorted. All of the features you would expect such as playlists, shuffle, recommendations, and downloading is present. Logging in is easy too, since once you link your Nintendo account, the app doesn’t make you sign in every time. There aren’t any ads either. While it’s true that their isn’t a lot of games at launch, it’s worth noting that the annual price is significantly lower than similar services. I am confident that time will be very kind to the library. The only downside is the lack of CarPlay compatibility, but if you don’t listen to music while driving, that won’t matter too much. Overall, I am very impressed with the app, and I recommend it, as it does justice for the OSTs it hosts.

  3. 3/5Good, needs credit and more tracks

I can’t say I am disappointed in this app as a whole. The playback quality is great and there are lots of settings that are innovative since Nintendo is the first game company to have a streaming service for their games’ music. For example, the loop and no spoiler settings. These are great for study sessions and for games you haven’t finished yet. However, there are some issues. I’m slightly disappointed with the fact that you have to have NOS to use the service. But frankly, it isn’t a big problem for me considering that I use the NOS anyway. Also, the cost is low compared to other platforms. I know 20 bucks a year can be a lot but if you compare it to other companies’ charges it is practically nothing. Anyway, I am very angry that you didn’t include the composers and musicians who made the music. What’s the point of having a track information area if it just has the name of the game it’s from and copyright Nintendo? I am also shocked at the low number of games. There are so many good music and good games you made with 0 MUSIC on the platform you made just for your games’ music. Also, if your tactic here is to advertise new games, why don’t you include new games? The most recent game (Wonder) you have on the service released more than a year ago now. Why won’t you include Jamboree and Echoes of Wisdom? Good, but you need to add more games and surely give the musicians and composers credit for writing a good song.

  4. 1/5Give proper credit to the artists

Extremely uncool that the people who made the songs are not listed anywhere in the app. It deserves nothing more than 1 star for that alone. • Minor feedback/feature suggestions. - When using the extend song feature, the song shouldn’t start over, just have it skip to the same time timestamp the user is on in the song, should be super easy to implement. - Having the length of individual songs listed in playlists/albums would be very nice. - There should be a global individual user library that you can add songs to like every other streaming app has. - Add an option to auto sort playlists or library by game and track number in each album. - Let us see which songs are already in said library when viewing an album. -When attempting to add a song to a playlist that already has the song in it, prompt the user with a “This song is already in the playlist, add it again?” - Add an option to keep certain songs together when shuffling - This one is more of an ask, but it would be really nice if some of the tracks that had multiple versions of the song that change dynamically in game such as several Mario kart songs like dolphin shoals, super bell subway, moonview highway, etc, had a way to listen to them and have each version cleanly flow into the next. Could be as simple as having a separate mix where each version has a loop played before progressing to the next and then the song ends such as done in the video “Making of Mario Kart 8: Super Bell Subway” by Nintendo UK.

  5. 5/5This is exactly what I needed! 😄

I am a huge Nintendo fan and I have always wanted to hear the in game music outside the game. I am very happy to know that this app exists and I can listen to every Nintendo song that I like without worrying about searching on my other music apps for the specific song and not just a cover of the song. I also love how Nintendo once in a while puts in a new soundtrack for us to listen to which keeps you from getting bored of listening to the same songs over and over. When it comes to music apps it is to me a must to be able to make your own playlists so you can listen to the specific songs you like and Nintendo being awesome made just that! There is one or two things that I feel should be added and fixed. I would like to see more retro game music on the app because I play the N64 sometimes and play other older games and would enjoy to see those. Also I may be asking for to much but the app tends to be slow sometimes and won’t play music when I press the play button. Now I am only twelve and can’t make the best reviews out there but I just wanted to show Nintendo how happy I am with this app and that I definitely use this app!
