1. 4/5PLEASE add a search function

   It’s a nice way to get news and it’s free. But there NEEDS to be a way to search for articles. I frequently will have clicked on a notification to read an article and some problem causes me to go back to the home page of the app (sometimes I didn’t finish reading the article before spending an extended period of time with the app minimized, or sometimes when I click a notification it doesn’t actually take me to the article) but if the article isn’t on the home page and I don’t know where to find it in the explore tab, there’s no way for me to get back to it. This is less pressing, but it would also be nice if clicking links inside an article that lead to another NBC article would open up that article inside the app rather than in my browser.

2. 2/5One current big issue

   For the many years I have used this app it has been for the most part nothing but exceptional, until now. Currently, and for at least the last couple weeks or so, the Latest News section under Discover does not update the recent news stories as it should when they are released. It does end up updating the list but over a much longer period of time. Currently I’m waiting for new articles to populate but the most recent one in the section is from 4 hours ago and I know from visiting the website multiple articles have been pushed in that 4 hour period. I will note that before clicking on Latest Stories, the section underneath the header displaying the most recent article is always up to date with the most recent article, however that does not help with the others that are hiding behind that. I’ve waited to review to see if issue would resolve soon but frustration finally has overcome. Please fix soon! Also I have deleted and reinstalled app but to no avail it is the same. I do have other ways to access said articles outside the app but I eagerly wait the convenience to not have to do so.

3. 3/5App is okay, content is trash

   The app works okay, with frequent scrolling issues, resetting, pictures failing to load and other glitches, it’s earned about 3 stars… The content, on the other hand, is trash. I keep the app to see what NBC is saying is the “news” and how they frame it, which is typically very biased and skewed. Please understand what you’re getting when you read this. The articles will always present you with one side, written from one point of view, and never include any contrary voices. Additionally, they pick only the articles they want you to view, of course. Their prerogative, of course, and your choice to read or not. Thanks for reading this review! Take care!

4. 1/5Facelift is infuriating

   I’ve given the new makeover (for the Apple TV app) a few months to see if updates would make it not-terrible. It’s really not gotten any better from the glitchy, frustratingly organized, inconsistently up-to-date piece of beta software that rolled out in November I think. On good days, the Nightly News is available at like 7:30 PM Eastern time. Sometimes it will let you play the whole episode, and sometimes you have to scroll to the bottom and watch one segment at a time. Sometimes it’s not available until 9:30 PM, or 10:30 PM. Very often segments will get a playback error. So you just don’t get to see that- on your TV, but it works fine from my phone… Figure that one out. The ad load is at least reasonable, but I feel like if you’re requiring me to login to my television provider, and serving ads, at least it could be a staple piece of software. There’s nothing more frustrating than sitting through a 30 second commercial to only be greeted by a “playback error.” I’m really not a huge fan of the cross promotions that have been added. This used to be an app dedicated to the nightly news. Now you can watch all of the MSNBC, and NBC news-like properties. I have no interest in almost any other offerings. But they’re constantly cross promoted in my face, and it takes six clicks to get the heck away from them. Let me have a favorite. And cross promote second. I’ve been an avid watcher of the Nightly News for decades. And since I can’t get it over-the-air anymore, I often find myself reverting back to watching on the non-facelifted iPhone app. It’s absurd. Let me consume your product!!!

5. 3/5Very annoying.

   I love being able to listen to my favorite NBC news sources, but I hate that it frequently shuts off, errors out and tells me “Something went wrong please retry. Multiple times almost every time I try and use the live feeds. I’m at home. My WiFi is on, not cutting out, not even once and yet your app’s live feeds shut off every ten-twenty minutes. And tells me “Something went wrong please retry. It’s 4:00 now, It happened four times since I sat down at my desk at 3:00 The app occasionally would do this but it only recently begun to do it with such annoying frequency. I usually just get frustrated and switch to one of the CBS feeds

   it seems every article is behind the pay wall. I'd pay for 'economist,' level journalism not for stuff I can read anywhere. there's no quality incentive to pay
