1. 4/5Love for tracking cycle, not an app for pregnancy tracking

   My husband and I use Natural Cycles for Natural Family Planning to adhere to our religious preferences and I have loved it for tracking my cycle. I’ve found the educational aspect of the app to be extremely helpful and a unique feature. I did get pregnant because we were not cautious on a “red day” while the app was in birth control mode. I was disappointed that the prompts where very somber and apologetic when I marked that I had a positive pregnancy test. I would like to have seen a prompt that asked how I felt about a positive pregnancy test that determined the responses in the app. It was also advertised as a pregnancy tracker, which it is not on par at all. While it does have the capability to switch to pregnancy mode, it does not provide any information about your pregnancy or baby at all. Even the weeks of my pregnancy were off in the app because it tracked based on ovulation, where the OBGYN tracks from the first day off you last period. Hopefully that is something the be easily fixable. While I was hoping for NC to be an all-in-one app, I understand that pregnancy is not the speciality in this circumstance and they are clearly very educated in their field of fertility. I still very much enjoy this app and have resumed using it the track my cycle postpartum. It is the only app that I feel comfortable using when my hormones are all over the place!

2. 5/5Teaches you a lot

   I use this app to prevent pregnancy. For anyone considering the natural approach, this app is great synced with an Oura ring as long as you are committed to checking in every day. I made it part of my wake up routine to log any activity and pay attention to the red vs green days. My first month I did an ovulation strip every day (first thing in the morning) to see where my ovulation window might be. After a couple months of cycle tracking, I was able to nail down my ovulation window, for example usually day 15-18 was my window, so I’ll test on cycle day 12 and every morning after that until I get a positive strip. The strips are an additional tool to make sure you’re on track and the app is in line with what your body is doing. The app will exclude info if your temp gets too high (like illness or hangover). I wouldn’t recommend it to my 20 year old self but as a 38 year old woman who knows her body, it works great for me. The only odd thing to happen was my cycle track got whacky when I took a week long vacation and was consuming alcohol daily. However, since I had been using the app for over a year I was able to trust that the change of activity was the cause, not sudden fertility. It’s been great being off birth control and better understanding my body.

3. 5/5This natural birth control method is a dream come true!

   I’ve been on and off (99.9% on) hormonal birth control (mostly Nuva Ring) from the age of 15-27 years old, and now I’m 32. When I stopped taking hormonal birth control cold turkey, I feel like the ‘real me’ began emerging almost immediately. For the first time I could begin feeling my emotions and my body. My feminine intuition kicked back in, something I had been out of touch with for over a decade. Truly my whole life changed, I left my job, left my 3-year relationship that wasn’t right for me, moved to another city, the lost goes on. From the age of 27-31 I didn’t use any type of birth control method or monitoring, and this was still not my favorite because I was worried I’d get pregnant and was yearning to learn even more about my body and my cycle. —> Enter Natural Cycles App!! I’ve been using Natural Cycles for only 4 months and am already in love with it!! It’s a dream come true!! At first I had to get myself into the habit of using the thermometer each morning but it’s SO worth it once you do. I feel so confident in understanding my body and my cycle now, without having to use hormonal birth control. What a relief!! I have so much data about my cycle, and so much certainty around when to be extra careful during sex, etc. I’m so grateful for Natural Cycles!! And absolutely love that it costs so much less than traditional birth control. And the App itself is incredible, so well developed and managed. Thank you Natural Cycles! You changed my life for the better forever!

   My husband and I use this app to aide us in NFP. It has been amazingly accurate and so great! I think what this app does to empower women to learn about their bodies and take charge of their fertility in a healthy and natural way cannot be understated. Thank you so much for this wonderful tool! If I could make a suggestion though, it would be maybe to tweak the wording of a particular message. I had my profile set to prevent pregnancy mode as my husband and I have not been actively trying for a baby. However, we are a couple who is open to life, so there are times (through no fault in the app) that we are knowingly intimate on a red day. I just found out that I am expecting and hit the follow pregnancy function. I was disheartened to get the message that said you were sorry I got pregnant while in prevent pregnancy mode. Now, granted I am someone who looks at all new life as a joy and a blessing, regardless of it being planned or unplanned, but for someone who may be more surprised and scared about an unplanned pregnancy may take that message to heart and it can be really discouraging. May I suggest that regardless of the mode a cycler is in, that you greet them with a message of joy and encouragement? Instead of “we’re sorry”, just say “congratulations” and then go ahead and have them take the survey you put in the message. This app is so amazing at spreading positivity and empowering women and I just think that should consistently be represented throughout.

5. 5/5Easy to use, reliable

   I have been using Natural Cycles for a little over 6 months now and I love it! I have never been on any birth control and didn’t want to start any when I got married, but my husband I were getting tired of having to use condoms every time so when I saw this app I figured it couldn’t hurt to try it out. I keep the thermometer on top of my phone at night so when my alarm goes off I take my temperature right away and log it. Some cycles I do get a lot of red (use protection) days if the app has trouble detecting ovulation, but it’s still way better than having to take birth control or use condoms every time. I also like that I am aware of my body and cycle more now. I would highly recommend this app to anyone that is married or in a committed relationship where if you would get pregnant it wouldn’t ruin your life plans. I feel that it is very reliable if you use it properly, but there is room for error so if getting pregnant would devastate you, this probably isn’t for you. But for us, we aren’t currently trying to have a baby but probably will in the next year or two so I feel comfortable using this and realizing that there is a chance i could still get pregnant. Plus when we do decide to have a baby, knowing my cycle will hopefully make it easier.
