   I never wright reviews but this is so bad it needs one. Run away! This software is awful! When using face recognition it stays in a song in loop, I fixed that by turning it off. Now I’m over a week in and still can’t get my taxes sent out. My wife’s social security number was wrong so I reached out to the person filing my taxes that I paid extra for. He told me he would fix instead it as sent in and denied. I reached out again he apologized, I sent him the right number and he said he would fix it. The problem is the link he sent me takes me to a screen telling me my return was rejected and to contact my tax expert. I took a screenshot and sent to him so he sent me another link and this time it worked. The problem this time is he didn’t change the social security number. So I rejected it and sent a message. I once again got a message saying my taxes are ready to review. I clicked on the link and once again it took to a contact my tax expert. Again I took a screenshot and sent it to him, again he sent me another link and this time it worked. Then I started looking everything over and realized HE STILL HADN’T CHANGED MY WIFES SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER. I messaged him again, he again apologized and said he would fix it. Then he once again sent me a broken link that takes me back to a screen showing my return has been rejected. I’m now waiting for him to respond back to me…. This is a nightmare…. The positive reviews have to be fake. At the very least this software is junk but combined with poor service makes this is a nightmare.

2. 1/5Most unintuitive app ever & no customer service

   I loathe this app. The concept is awesome. However the app freezes up constantly which totally undoes any convenience of having the app in the first place. So I’ve had to upload in batches of 1-2 docs at first. Then after awhile even ONE document didn’t work. Just freezing, crashing, freezing, crashing … ad nauseum. To add insult to unjury, once you upload a doc it becomes H&R Block’s property forever apparently. You can’t even VIEW what you uploaded in the app. This is creepy for one, but on a logistical point its horrendous combined with the small batches the app can only handle apparently.. like I can’t even see what I uploaded already. How short sighted and lame is this! Every point A to B process within the app is unnecessarily cumbersome and annoying. At this point it would be more convenient if I did it all by hand. I mean, I guess we can’t really expect a 4 star meal from the McDonalds drive thru of tax prep, but they definitely have enough money to make their app WORK at the very least. I’ve contacted H&R Block by email and via 3 different social media accounts explaining my situation and asking for help. Their response? Tumbleweeds blowing across a desert plain. Meaning nothing. Nada. Zip. Zilch. Seriously, it’s Fricken unbelievable. At the end of the day, taking my taxes to an actual tax accountant isn’t more than $30-$40 more expensive. They actually help, do a lot of the heavy lifting, and I always get a WAY better refund too. Sadly I’m going back to them as I see no reason to stay with HRB now

3. 2/5I will never use this app again

   I have used H&R Block app to file myself for years. This year it imported my filing status wrong and I didn’t notice until I was at the “finish up” page. So I needed to go back and change it even though the app was telling my stuff looked perfect and ready to file! But I couldn’t get back there, only go forward. So I called customer service. The lady was walking me through the change. Got me back to the beginning of my federal taxes and told me to change my answer from no to yes on the question “can anyone else claim YOU as a dependent”. I told her I wasn’t changing that answer. No one else can claim me. After refusing several times, she convinced me they were asking about my daughter and not me. So I changed it. It immediately increased the amount I owe by $500. I told the CSR that and she insisted she was right and to keep going. Guess what? She was wrong. Then she couldn’t get me back to where I could change it again. What??? I hung up and called back 4 times. No one, not even a supervisor could get me back to the beginning again. And the supervisor put me on mute (background noise disappeared, call still connected, no “hold” music, and no response from supervisor for 10 minutes). At that point, I logged out and went to Turbo Tax where I went from owing money to a very small refund. Never again H&R. But you don’t care. You have thousands of other filers! PS when I googled where to file a complaint, it gave me the number of the call center I had just called 5 times. I didn’t bother. Surely they would have screwed that up too.

4. 1/5Emerald card was a bigger step than they could handle

   I have had an emerald card since 2019 and honestly it is my worst debit card, since there is no or no atm for this card and you have to pay fees everywhere to use you own card, of course there could be this one ATM 100 miles away that could work with this card. Ever since last year this guys changed their bank for the cards and the old cards got expired on their own; now they haven’t sent me a new card so I can use my account, after spending an hour on the phone with H&R they said that they can make me a new account but they can’t move my own money to it. So now I have a account with H&R with all my cash and they won’t let me access it, funny part is they can’t even access it themselves. That is why I don’t recommend HR emerald card to anyone, simply there is gonna be a lot of headache and they are going to take your money away from you and put in a expired bank account and not be able to fix it for you. Side note: I made 3 phone calls each one of these calls had 1+hour wait on the phone and there is no physical branch, if you go to an office they will encourage you to call them, because they don’t even know what they are doing.

5. 1/5Terrible company

   Both the app and the website refused to let me even start my taxes. After being on hold for over an hour the phone representative, while polite and somewhat professional, was completely unable to help me. I have been doing my taxes with them for the last 5 years and she told me that my account was in a status that would not let me do anything at all and that I needed to create a new account with a different email address and then see how it goes. When I finally figured out how to get started on my own the app and website constantly tell me that there are items that I need to check off but when I click them it just takes me to a blank page. At this point I am going to have to go in to one of their physical locations just to see if my taxes have even been started and finish them there, while paying their ridiculous fees. I will never do business with them again. As soon as my taxes have been completed for this year I am going to use someone local that is not part of this terrible company that has been lobbying the government for decades to prevent us from doing our taxes like any other first world country. Seriously, I never will use them again for the rest of my life
