  1. 5/5Love this app!

Former iBank/Banktivity user of 10 years here. I recently had my banktivity software crash on me and become unusable and my software was outdated and obsolete. After reading all the poor reviews of Banktivities newest software I started looking for an alternative. At first glance of Moneywhiz 21 I was a little intimidated. It looked clean but complicated compared to what I was used to. Bankitivity used to pride itself on looking like Apples aesthetics. Thats what hooked me back in the day. I dowloaded the app and to my surprise it gives you the ability to try the app in demo mode before subscribing. I played with it for a week with a mockup of my account and budgets and man was I stoked about how simple and intuitive it is!! It also runs like a dream on my new iphone 13. Also when you open it on a Mac it looks identical to your phone. Layout, colors, etc. even the cloud sync is flawless. I remember Banktivity being so complicated and you never knew when a glitch would occur during sync and you'd have to wipe it out and start over. That happened several times back in the day. Get this app you wont regret it!!! Im actually excited about goals and budgets again! P.S. Im also a new Robinhood user and having your brokerage linked to Moneywhiz 21 is super slick. All of you finances all in one place.

  2. 4/5Learning Curve

Moving to this from a different application back in November. I do like the pricing and am getting comfortable with the flexibility but there is a steep learning curve I am dealing with. I am having some issues with Amex where transactions are not showing in MoneyWiz that are in my online transactions. Envelope budgeting is explained in the wiki but still is not as intuitive like I would have expected. Envelope budgeting seems like a basic budgeting approach but Money Wiz to me makes it much more complicated than it should be. Reporting is very confusing to me. I am looking for a report that would tell me if I missed assinging a category to a budget but I just can't find something that approaches taht and I'm not clever enoguh to figure it out. I would think this would be simple but it simply comes across more convoluted than I feel it should be. Why do I need to have reports shown to em if I will never use them? Its too much if I am using this for simple finances/. Granted I have investments and loans and what not but, I still feel MoneyWiz is tryng too hard to be this all powerful budgeting behemoth that is overly complicating simple home finances. Now my hope is that as I become more comfortable with the application my rating for this will grow becasue I do see the potential. Its just a matter of me getting around the curve. But as I negotiated this curve I just hope I don't run into issues I can't get around that will cause my opinion to be less than it is today.

  3. 5/5Best App and Customer Service Ever

I’ve been using MoneyWiz for years. I recently upgraded to MoneyWiz 3 so I could use it on my new PC, but was upset that the newer version separated my pending and cleared transactions. I found that to be confusing and emailed them to see if there was any way to integrate the two. They responded almost immediately that I could not do so in that version. They suggested that I get MoneyWiz 21, which is an annual subscription, but would allow me to integrate the two categories. Unfortunately, MoneyWiz 21 is only available in IOS, but I can use it on my phone and tablet, just not on my PC, and for me, that was the best choice. When I let them know that I wanted to switch, they immediately refunded my money and I went ahead and got MoneyWiz 21. So, their customer service is outstanding. I have never been able to keep track of my funds using a check register and I have found MoneyWiz to be totally reliable and I depend on it. I don’t use any of the fancier features like syncing with my bank. I don’t want to know what my bank thinks I have; I need to work off of what I will have when all my bills and pending transactions are paid! But if you are financially savvy (I’m not) there are tons of features that can help you track investments etc.

  4. 5/5Finally a strong App that works

I love moneywiz 2020. My priorty was to use an app that downloads all my financial accounts and gives me a full picture of what i have and what is happening. There are a lot of services like this but none that function flawlessly. Quicken is slow and doesn't support all my bank accounts. Banktivity, personal capital, or Calrity Money also don't allow you to connec to all the banking and investment institutions--totally pointless for a financial app. Moneywiz offers three data aggregators, if one doesn't work for you, try the other. Finally, they have superb cutomer service. The response time to my emails and queries is so less than a few hours. sometimes within a few minutes. They care about the customer relationship. Be aware that there is no perfect financial app, because they all rely on another service to aggregate data from banking institutions. so their at the mercy of another provider, but they address any bugs or issues in connectivity immediately. i was able to get into al of my accounts (15 in cluding robinhood and webull) in a day or two. I tried all available apps and services, and this is the best hands down.

  5. 1/5Horrible Syncing feature.

As the tittle says. I would not waste your money like I did on the premium version of this app for the Bank/Financial institution syncing feature. As many other reviews have stated this feature is inconsistent and unreliable. Way more often than not, when you sit down with the app to go over your finances you will find that your transactions of your accounts are not up to date. You will find that your accounts have not been updated by many hours to a day or so. This makes it impossible to get an accurate account of where your at financially at any given time using this App. You can update your transactions manually, but that negates the reason for subscribing to the premium version of this App. The App has several choices for which third party vendor you want to use for syncing to your accounts. For the USA/Canada the vendor choice is “PLAID”. This is the one I use. I have seen in other reviews that the developer says they have no control over the way the the third party company handles the syncing and that all they do is incorporate this feature into their App. Well, the problem is that I paid my subscription to MoneyWiz not PLAID. So please don’t advertise and charge a premium for a feature in your App that doesn’t work properly. Other than that its a decent App. Thank you. Update: That’s fine. But please disclose/advertise this deficiency in your promo/app description so consumers can make an informed purchasing decision. 🤷‍♀️

We begin a MoneyWiz redesign to bring it up to modern standards. A lot of the MoneyWiz UI was custom built many years ago without using native controls which were unavailable at the time. We're now refactoring MoneyWiz from the ground up to use native controls as much as possible and will be working on doing that over the next couple of months. This is the first update of this sort - we've modified the top bar at the list of Accounts, Budgets, Scheduled and Reports and we've re-created a lot of the Settings screen using native controls (more to come). We also squashed a few reported bugs. If you find any issues please report them at [email protected] so we can fix them asap. Thank you and happy holidays from the MoneyWiz team!
