5/5The best app, ever!
The OneNote app is so easy to learn and so versatile, I use it for everything. The fact that I can add a document on my iPad and have access to the document on my iPhone, it’s just priceless. This is the one app I couldn’t do without. Take a picture of all your favorite and special recipes, import them to OneNote, and Voila! Copy and paste all your favorite online recipes, including online pics. All your recipes are readily available. OneNote is also great for school—I wish this app was available when I was in college. Copy and paste documents, PDF files, links, and graphs. Because of cloud services loosing all of your documents is pretty much a thing of the past; however, if you’re anything like me, always expecting the worse, I like backing up my documents locally, also using the MS OneDrive cloud service and Apples’ cloud/iOS back service. All of these back-ups happen seamlessly and without my intervention, no extra steps required. OneNote is easy to use, fun, and intuitive—truly the possibilities are endless. And one of, if not the most important thing about OneNote, it’s a MS product. The company/product will probably be around forever. MS is not a flyby, one person software company, here today gone tomorrow. Do you know how many times I’ve had to stop using and/or delete third-party software because the “software company,” located in Russia, China, or India is no longer providing updates? I don’t mind using software products from startups for games, utilities, and other everyday tasks. However, for important lists and documents I’d prever to go with a software company that’s been around for decades.

2/5Great overall but currently giving me a headache
This app has always been my favorite for note taking. It’s better than the Apple Notes one and I’ve used it for years now. But recently, I can’t remember what exactly I did but think I logged into another Microsoft account on my MacBook Pro for the other Microsoft apps, not knowing it affected OneNote too. I kept using OneNote with all my original notebooks and stuff, then realized it was never syncing from my iPhone app to my Mac app and vice versa. I saw that the account changed, so I backed everything up by taking a video of all my recent notes, and tried to switch back to my original account, resulting in lost notes and error messages. This has caused so many problems and it’s a huge struggle to get everything back to normal. Switching back caused me to lose many new notes, and results in messages that don’t even make sense like “Section not available yet, it was added from another device, you will be able to use it when that device syncs” even though it was made on this same device, and it’s already been almost a day since seeing the message. Also “Conflicting changes” messages which are confusing. Syncing my notebooks does nothing at all. Another thing is that I want to delete some notebooks I don’t use anymore but finding the delete option is hard. I just want to be able to recover my notes, sync easily between phone, Mac, Windows, and website version, and not have any problems. I am using the trial for 365 and have most of the memory left so that shouldn’t be the reason for any of this.

5/5Best app to keep track of things
I've used many different apps including Evernote and others. This is the best app and here's why. The app is available for your mobile phone, your windows computer (possibly for Mac also), and on the Internet if you are using someone else's computer. The note taking ability is made easy by the fact that you can have multiple notebooks. Within each notebook you can have multiple tabs (for a topic or area of interest), and within the tabs you can have multiple pages, each page can be its own little nugget of information. It beats having to save emails and word docs on your computer, then opening each one for the exact info you are looking for. OneNote has its search bar that will search all notebooks for you. And best thing is it auto-saves! Just type your info and close the app! On your mobile phone, hit the sync button if you want to see it instantaneously update your desktop app. The latest enhancement allows me to take a picture on my phone and save it directly to my Notes. No more guessing where I saw that article and/or wishing I had a copy to send to people. Amazing. Love it. Thank you, developers/designers at Microsoft. There is ONE thing I do want to see as a feature enhancement - allow the MOBILE app to allow searching within the page. Currently only the desktop version has the ability to search within the page or within the entire application.

4/5Very versatile, a little glitchy on ipads.
Super versatile note taking and sharing app. It has some really cool features only for the PC software that i wish i had on the iPad like searching hand written notes and turning them into text, or recording audio and linking your notes to the place in which they occur in the audio. (You can use most of these on a p/c after you take notes with your iPad though.) But at the end of the day it is still a great fusion of typed and hand-written notes (if you have an apple pencil), with a pretty convenient organization structure and a nearly limitless canvas. You aren’t forced to take all your notes in 8 1/2” x 11” increments. Most of my frustrations come from my inability to turn off the auto correcting features. It capitalizes letters after a period, and turns some things into symbols when i really don’t want it to. so far, I haven’t been able to disable this. Also, when I’m using my bluetooth keyboard arrows to navigate, it alway jumps two spaces at a time. I’ve had to learn keyboard tricks to get around these quirks. My biggest problem was when my school’s network was unable to connect to microsoft online. If this app can’t connect, you will get several warnings and all your notes are effectively in a read-only mode. I spent several minutes looking for an offline mode, but I ultimately ended up scrambling to take notes on paper that day. Overall, it’s still my favorite way to take notes. It is both structured and free flowing, and it really works for me.

3/5my Student Access is horrible
I don’t prefer this app, but I use it regardless bc I like my notes in ‘Journals’; it makes storing and reviewing them easier for each class. Disclosure: I have access to Microsoft 365 apps through my university. One bothersome habit is that OneNote syncs slowly. I wonder if it is because it has to verify first my student profile at my university then proceeds to grant me access to my files. If that protocol is the culprit then I suggest it transition to checking in every 4 weeks instead of every time I’m opening the app or adding a new note. I have a better experience on my iPhone XS Max than my MacBook Pro, so I’m hoping for parity. The OneNote app for Mac keeps logging me out and requesting for iCloud Keychain Access which is fine, but I don’t get why it repeatedly asks for the info even though I click ‘Always Allow’. I also the INSERT EQUATION function were first off available on the iOS app and better integrated with the Mac app. Insert Equation seems like a really great feature but I can’t use it. It just doesn’t seem fair that I don’t get access to it like PC users and it makes me reluctant to purchase a Microsoft 365 subscription in the future when I graduate. How can I tolerate long sync times and blocked off features? Also as of lately I keep getting a pop-up that display a sync error occurred because Sticky Notes cannot be synced without some other Microsoft service when I barely open the app, and don’t even have any sticky notes. Weird bugs but okay I’m done with my review

          "body": "The OneNote app is so easy to learn and so versatile, I use it for everything. The fact that I can add a document on my iPad and have access to the document on my iPhone, it’s just priceless. This is the one app I couldn’t do without. Take a picture of all your favorite and special recipes, import them to OneNote, and Voila! Copy and paste all your favorite online recipes, including online pics. All your recipes are readily available. OneNote is also great for school—I wish this app was available when I was in college. Copy and paste documents, PDF files, links, and graphs. Because of cloud services loosing all of your documents is pretty much a thing of the past; however, if you’re anything like me, always expecting the worse, I like backing up my documents locally, also using the MS OneDrive cloud service and Apples’ cloud/iOS back service. All of these back-ups happen seamlessly and without my intervention, no extra steps required. OneNote is easy to use, fun, and intuitive—truly the possibilities are endless. And one of, if not the most important thing about OneNote, it’s a MS product. The company/product will probably be around forever. MS is not a flyby, one person software company, here today gone tomorrow. Do you know how many times I’ve had to stop using and/or delete third-party software because the “software company,” located in Russia, China, or India is no longer providing updates? I don’t mind using software products from startups for games, utilities, and other everyday tasks. However, for important lists and documents I’d prever to go with a software company that’s been around for decades.",

          "title": "Great overall but currently giving me a headache",
          "body": "This app has always been my favorite for note taking. It’s better than the Apple Notes one and I’ve used it for years now. But recently, I can’t remember what exactly I did but think I logged into another Microsoft account on my MacBook Pro for the other Microsoft apps, not knowing it affected OneNote too. I kept using OneNote with all my original notebooks and stuff, then realized it was never syncing from my iPhone app to my Mac app and vice versa. I saw that the account changed, so I backed everything up by taking a video of all my recent notes, and tried to switch back to my original account, resulting in lost notes and error messages. This has caused so many problems and it’s a huge struggle to get everything back to normal. Switching back caused me to lose many new notes, and results in messages that don’t even make sense like “Section not available yet, it was added from another device, you will be able to use it when that device syncs” even though it was made on this same device, and it’s already been almost a day since seeing the message. Also “Conflicting changes” messages which are confusing. Syncing my notebooks does nothing at all. Another thing is that I want to delete some notebooks I don’t use anymore but finding the delete option is hard. I just want to be able to recover my notes, sync easily between phone, Mac, Windows, and website version, and not have any problems. I am using the trial for 365 and have most of the memory left so that shouldn’t be the reason for any of this.",

          "title": "Best app to keep track of things",
          "body": "I've used many different apps including Evernote and others. This is the best app and here's why. The app is available for your mobile phone, your windows computer (possibly for Mac also), and on the Internet if you are using someone else's computer. The note taking ability is made easy by the fact that you can have multiple notebooks. Within each notebook you can have multiple tabs (for a topic or area of interest), and within the tabs you can have multiple pages, each page can be its own little nugget of information. It beats having to save emails and word docs on your computer, then opening each one for the exact info you are looking for. OneNote has its search bar that will search all notebooks for you. And best thing is it auto-saves! Just type your info and close the app! On your mobile phone, hit the sync button if you want to see it instantaneously update your desktop app. The latest enhancement allows me to take a picture on my phone and save it directly to my Notes. No more guessing where I saw that article and/or wishing I had a copy to send to people. Amazing. Love it. Thank you, developers/designers at Microsoft. There is ONE thing I do want to see as a feature enhancement - allow the MOBILE app to allow searching within the page. Currently only the desktop version has the ability to search within the page or within the entire application.",

          "title": "Very versatile, a little glitchy on ipads.",
          "body": "Super versatile note taking and sharing app. It has some really cool features only for the PC software that i wish i had on the iPad like searching hand written notes and turning them into text, or recording audio and linking your notes to the place in which they occur in the audio. (You can use most of these on a p/c after you take notes with your iPad though.) But at the end of the day it is still a great fusion of typed and hand-written notes (if you have an apple pencil), with a pretty convenient organization structure and a nearly limitless canvas. You aren’t forced to take all your notes in 8 1/2” x 11” increments. Most of my frustrations come from my inability to turn off the auto correcting features. It capitalizes letters after a period, and turns some things into symbols when i really don’t want it to. so far, I haven’t been able to disable this. Also, when I’m using my bluetooth keyboard arrows to navigate, it alway jumps two spaces at a time. I’ve had to learn keyboard tricks to get around these quirks. My biggest problem was when my school’s network was unable to connect to microsoft online. If this app can’t connect, you will get several warnings and all your notes are effectively in a read-only mode. I spent several minutes looking for an offline mode, but I ultimately ended up scrambling to take notes on paper that day. Overall, it’s still my favorite way to take notes. It is both structured and free flowing, and it really works for me.",

          "title": "my Student Access is horrible",
          "body": "I don’t prefer this app, but I use it regardless bc I like my notes in ‘Journals’; it makes storing and reviewing them easier for each class. Disclosure: I have access to Microsoft 365 apps through my university. One bothersome habit is that OneNote syncs slowly. I wonder if it is because it has to verify first my student profile at my university then proceeds to grant me access to my files. If that protocol is the culprit then I suggest it transition to checking in every 4 weeks instead of every time I’m opening the app or adding a new note. I have a better experience on my iPhone XS Max than my MacBook Pro, so I’m hoping for parity. The OneNote app for Mac keeps logging me out and requesting for iCloud Keychain Access which is fine, but I don’t get why it repeatedly asks for the info even though I click ‘Always Allow’. I also the INSERT EQUATION function were first off available on the iOS app and better integrated with the Mac app. Insert Equation seems like a really great feature but I can’t use it. It just doesn’t seem fair that I don’t get access to it like PC users and it makes me reluctant to purchase a Microsoft 365 subscription in the future when I graduate. How can I tolerate long sync times and blocked off features? Also as of lately I keep getting a pop-up that display a sync error occurred because Sticky Notes cannot be synced without some other Microsoft service when I barely open the app, and don’t even have any sticky notes. Weird bugs but okay I’m done with my review",
