   I know there’s a lot of different ones and I’ve tried a lot over the years but man Medibang is just great. Cloud support, auto saves, intuitive interface that makes it easy to navigate, user friendly, many different options for illustrations and comics alike, downloadable brushes/resources/etc., and free across all platforms. Medibang is just overall very nice to use. Ever since I found it about 5 years ago I’ve been using it for all my art needs. The only thing it doesn’t have is being able to edit lines from individual points like what paint tool sai does but honestly that’s not even bad, it made me actually practice more on free handing and now my lines are clean, no shaking, no random pixels in the wrong places. There’s so many tools in the program to do what you wanna do, and I need to mention, YOU CAN SAVE THINGS TRANSPARENT ON THE APP TOO. Like that’s by far the best thing ever, you don’t need to go to a separate app/program to erase the lines or whatever, whatever you didn’t color in can just be saved as transparent AND still be .png which is my go to for file extensions. My favorite brush in Medibang has to be the sharp brush. It basically tapers lines for you. Amazing. Or how about the several different bitmaps you can create or download. Want a brush for clouds? We got it. Want a brush to make FRECKLES? We got it. Want a brush that smudges instead of blurs? We got it. Want a brush that water colors but blends better? Here are options to change that and actually see a difference. Want a brush that has anti aliases off so you can make pixel art? Turn it off and go right ahead. It’s so easy and intuitive and beautiful and works so well. Medibang is your best friend for all your art needs.

2. 5/5Get this app; you won’t regret it.

   If you’re a digital artist, aspiring or not, Medibang is 100% the app you wanna get. Simple and aesthetic interface, user-friendly, a ridiculous amount of features to use at your disposal to draw with, etc. But my favorite feature has to be the fact you can transfer from your computer to your phone or tablet, and vice versa. And the best thing is? Medibang is a free software, aside from receiving advertisements after you exit a file, they’re not annoying and plastered everywhere like most apps in general. Just a pop-up similar to ones you would see on FireAlpaca once you boot it up, for example. But if you have the money, and you like the app, support the creators by paying to remove the ads! I feel they deserve it for this amazing app. A downside is the fact that if you’re attempting to create an animation or GIF, Medibang is intended for still illustration, so unless you’re a huge fan of painstaking processes and don’t have access to FireAlpaca... dunno what to tell you. All in all, I recommend Medibang for anything related to digital art, it’s highly unlikely I’ll be switching to another program anytime soon. If you currently or previously used IbisPaint, switch over ASAP.

3. 4/5Amazing app! However…

   Starting it off with the Pros of this app! There is NO paywall! At least I don’t think or know of, I just started using the app. There is also brush variety, not to mention it has extra tools like the lasso or invert! Even a grid! When you first open the app, it gives you the option to click the help button, or you can figure it all out yourself. Also good zoom in and out, not to mention toon brush texture! Now what about the Cons? The brushes are very pixelated when you zoom in, though it isn’t that big of a deal. The biggest problem is the amount of options you have in one screen, like two different buttons for a tools option, or trying to figure out where to change the brushes. Also the eraser and blur is in the same order with the brushes. The pop up ads and random adds gave me Ibs paint vibes. However… This is an amazing app and would recommend to people, though I would warn them about the over complicated tool placement. Might use this from now on!

   This app is really bad! You have to make an account JUST to do digital art?! While I was drawing the lines kept glitching then they would erase themselves and that’s annoying it wouldn’t let me make more than 2 layers and there aren’t a lot of brush options also it wouldn’t let me exit the canvas so I had to exit out of the entire app just to go back to the main menu and it didn’t even save my artwork the color scale wouldn’t move at all and it would glitch every so often and make me go to a random color like I’d be drawing a circle and in the middle of drawing it the color changed from black to orange to purple to yellow then back to black and this happened again when I was trying to draw the body of a cat I was drawing it when randomly it went from black to gray to red to blue to orange then it started glitching and kicked me off the app and didn’t save my artwork I’d rather spend $10 on procreate for better app experience than have to deal with it kicking me off glitching and not saving my art over and over again this is really annoying and such a waste of time after it kicked me out for the third time it wouldn’t let me back in the app and when it finally did the screen froze for like 2 minutes and then unfroze but continued to glitch with both erasing the lines and changing color randomly PLEASE either fix this or just get rid of the app this is really annoying sinceI could’ve just spent 2 seconds buying procreate for AMAZING app experience rather then this trashy app if anybody reading this wants to get this app don’t just buy procreate or go on iArtbook(free) or some other digital are app because this is NOT it.

5. 1/5Guess it’s over.

   I’ve used Medibang for years, it was originally ad free, eventually ads are added, but not so intrusive software is unusable, so it’s fine, make the money, I get it. Now they added banner ads to iPad, this means you lose canvas space as the banner isn’t removable, not to mention it wasn’t optimized at all, so now we have the inclusion of many bugs that never happened before, layers can’t be scrolled through, I had a bug where after a short time any finger contact would act as me selecting transparency as my color, now the same bug happens but instead of the transparency your fingers just don’t work at all, the software was completely and utterly busted for the sake of something already inconvenient. A year ago I would recommend this software hands down. Heck, two WEEKS ago I would have done so. But it’s all over now. Software has in one update become practically unusable. I would have even payed as long as it was a one time thing just to get my software usable, for the years of usage I can’t deny they deserve my money, but they rubbed salt in the wound by removing their one time payment option, changing to exclusively a subscription model. It’s ridiculous. Going to look for new programs. I suggest you don’t get too attached if you came for free quality software.
