   This was my first time purchasing something from Madewell. I tried several times, over multiple days to make a purchase on their website and it just would not work. It let me add things to my cart, input my address, select shipping, etc, and then it wouldn’t let me input any sort of payment info. The website wasn’t even attempting to load. I had heard really good things about Madewell jeans so I wanted to give them a try. I decided to see if they had an app. They do, so I downloaded it and it worked great. I’m happy that I was finally able to make a purchase with them through the app, but I almost gave up because of the website not working. I don’t see myself making future purchases with Madewell outside of jeans, so it was annoying to have to download an app that I won’t even use in the future.

   It appears that as a result of a recent update to the app the feature that allows you to expand the picture of an item to get a closer look has been disabled. PLEASE BRING THAT BACK, I used it all the time & it helped me to decide whether or not to order an item. And by extension giving me, or anyone else for that matter, more information to not purchase an item that I otherwise would have ended up returning. I assume returns would be something that Madewell would want to minimize, so it makes sense to me to give the consumer as much info as possible at the decision making process & the ability to get a closer look is a sensible feature to make available. Additionally, items that I had put in “hold for later” either before this last update, or an earlier update, does not allow the photo of the item to show up. The item is listed but the picture of it does not appear. More recent items I’ve put in the “hold for later” category show up but older ones do not. Please fix this.

   i’m sorry to the developers but this app is trying to do too much and it’s actually terrible. even worse since the upgrade. when you filter by tall / taller, and then by 27/28, for example, it brings up allllll the standards and petites. the only way to truly filter by tall is to NOT add in any waist sizes. so then you have to click into every single item to see if they have your size. which they never do with talls and tallers. also if you click an item and switch it to tall, then switch it back to regular to read reviews, the reviews disappear. so you have to click out of the item completely and click back in to read reviews. i could go on. i only used it for 5-10 minutes and found so many bugs. please do a thorough QA esp with your filtering system. also, i’ve said this for like 10 years but i’ll keep saying it— madewell, your obsession final sale, esp with tall sizes, is out. of. control. i’ve avoided buying dozens and dozens of pants on sale bc THEYRE ALWAYS FINAL SALE. in talls. which is outrageous bc talls are always sold out anyway, so it’s not like you’d have trouble selling them. it’s just greedy.

4. 2/5Bugs, bugs, bugs.

   I’ve been wondering how long it would take madewell to put out a app, I’m actually shocked it’s taken this long. I was hoping that if they had an App that it wouldn’t be as glitchy/buggy to use as their online shop has been for years but here we are. It keeps asking me if I want to log into my account even though I’m already logged in. It seems to lead me to “blank pages” a lot. In account info, it let me edit everything but my birthday, which for some reason was showing blank, I thought I had filled this out ages ago online, but every time I try to tap the box, I’m given no cursor or keyboard. It was lagging and getting frozen trying to enter my location. Navigating around the “store” has been slow and glitchy. Every time I try to filter searches it leads me to a page that shows me the number of items that should be in my filter search but otherwise a blank page. Back under account, when I tried to take a look at what payment info I had listed, it would again take me to a broken page. My iPhone is pretty new, I’m only one update behind the current (just got a notification to update in the last 72 hours) I always restart my phone after a new App instal🤷🏻‍♀️ I’ll list anymore bugs I find if I can muster the Focus to keep trudging through this app.

   I completely agree with previous reviews, I find this app very frustrating and difficult to navigate. The app offers limited search options/selection, does not provide promotional sale banners, and constantly logs you out. I’ve checked back several times hoping the issues would be resolved but it’s lack of functionality appears to be the same. You’re better off shopping the website. But even the website has its flaws. My online cart is constantly full of items I’ve previously purchased, checking out takes forever as I have to delete every item individually. The website constantly logs me out during shopping session as well. Very frustrating to complete a purchase, takes way longer than it should. It’s pretty laughable JCrew/Madewell can’t manage to provide decent tech. I wish it was a smooth app shopping experience comparable to Anthropologie or Free People.
