   I have obtained MULTIPLE FREE certifications through LinkedIn learning! & I don't mean pointless certs that anyone could take with their eyes closed lol. I've literally received proof of passing courses, which look HELLA GOOD on a resume! Don't sleep on the free trainings. They can elevate your career, mindset, as well as overall outlook on life and where you want it to take you! Forever grateful for the opportunity to learn about practically anything under the sun, at a self paced rate, and also receive a certification and optional badge to embed into websites, social media, display directly on your LinkedIn profile, etc! You never know who's watching & may reward you for investing your time and energy into taking the initiative to learn a skill (or ten lol) on your own!

2. 1/5A sloppy, clumsily made app for a premium priced service

   This review is not regarding the content of Lynda now LinkedIn learning. This is regarding the app. And oh boy is it a disappointment! I have just come from the Lynda app which is light years ahead and it is beyond me that LinkedIn did not rename it and use that app! Simple things such as landscape mode not being available. I thought it must be some setting that I was missing but found when googling for a solution that this ‘problem’ has existed since 2015!! That is 3 years and is inexcusable. Just as it is inexcusable to be told we are working on it or some such standardized fob off as I can see has been the repetitive response here when people have expressed their concerns. Responses like that indicate strongly that one can expect an equally poor service. Likewise being able to see the videos on TV. Lynda had an app for Apple TV simple, efficient and it worked. Needless to say when an app like this is so primitive it can’t even function in landscape mode I feared the worst. And my fears were confirmed no streaming or easy possibilities for watching videos on smart TV’s Come ON LinkedIn! You can do better than this. If you won’t use the Lynda app then engage one of the many programmers doing courses on LinkedIn Learning to either give YOU lot a quick course on how to program this app, or let them create the app! So the short and the long: if you still have access to your Lynda app do NOT give it up you will truly regret it. As for the rest unfortunately you are stuck with this but you will at least not be experiencing the massive downgrade that those of us who are used to the Lynda app suffer. A sloppy and clumsy app, what a disappointment.

3. 3/5You can watch training videos or take notes, not both at the same time.

   With very few corrections this could be a 5* app but it is an educational app that does not allow you to take notes in it or in any other app without covering up the video. How?? Pros: * The content is good and often more succinct than other apps. This sometimes means less detail that other providers but it also allows you to jump into a topic and get a good grasp on it in a short period. * Finishing a course allows you to post it as a skill on your LinkedIn page. * Downloading videos for offline use is easy Cons: * This app DOES NOT allow split screen unlike all the other training apps I have used. All the courses I take are video based with screen captures being a prominent feature in the training. I can watch the videos in full screen or partial screen with LinkedIn stuff below the video but I cannot have a second app on screen(a feature built into the iPad) because LinkedIn does not allow it. I can pull an app like Ulysses(note taking app) OVER LinkedIn Learning but that covers part of the video, which again, is using screen captures and forces me to constantly move my notes across the screen to see what the trainer is doing. * LinkedIn has no note taking abilities within it’s own app. * The service is overly expensive. You cannot get LinkedIn Learning as a standalone service. You have to get LinkedIn Premium at $30 per month. If you were already interested in LinkedIn Premium then Learning is a nice feature of that service. However, if you just want training then this is the most expensive, least in-depth choice.

4. 4/5Decent but could use some user friendly controls

   I’ve done one course using this app on iPad and for the most part, I like it. My one complaint has to do with the controls for playing the videos. More often than not, I need to go back and repeat a little portion in order to hear or see some detail. However, there is no Reverse 15 Seconds or Fast Forward 15 Seconds (or whatever value) like in so many video players. That and the ability to have the progress bar always visible so it is easy to pause, instead of having to touch the screen to bring up the bar and then hitting pause. One other thing is that with the way the controls are organized, when you pause the video, the Play button is right in the middle of the screen and this can be inconvenient if you’re trying to see some detail onscreen. Overall a good app, but it could use some more user friendly controls

5. 2/5Comparatively speaking...

   If you’re looking for a lecture, it’s decent. I have a free membership thru my work enterprise, which, honestly, is the only reason I use it. I don’t see ANYTHING with this app that makes it better value than lecture based competitors like udemy, courses, etc. If you want to learn a technical skill this app is extremely difficult to use. Lecture exercises can be files up to 2gb -zipped-. So in addition to taking forever to download, I found the exercise files I pretty useless. It’s a swivel chair nightmare and there is no time built in or guides that even tell you when to open the exercises. Additionally, the files I’ve seen are more samples than actual exercises to go thru. Many don’t even have instructions enclosed. I’d much rather get a copy of the PowerPoints the instructors use (which, oddly, seems to be the only thing omitted from giant exercise files) or cheat sheets to help me in the real world. Having a format where student can practice and learn-by-doing (a la Codecademy, even lightbot) would be ideal, but I realized this is a lot of work and MONEY that probably won’t be invested. Shame.
