   Ever since they decided to get a programmer to reprogram the app so they could start charging fees, the app has not worked for those who signed up for the original fee. The app tries to constantly make you upgrade to get your content and consistently locks you out. This has been going on since October 2023. When you send them an email to let them know the app is broken, it goes for days or weeks before it’s fixed, in addition they don’t ever respond to you. When your daily reading is locked out and you can’t access it you realize just how much you depend on it. It seems to me they either don’t really care or they would have the program we fix it or they are not using it themselves so they have no idea it’s constantly broken. Ever since October 2023 the app has been broken at least 5 times and each time for no less than a week, so I guess that adds up to over a month. As of March 1st 2024 it was broken again and not fixed until March 7. I would suggest Haper get a new programmer. Not only should this not be happening, it’s inexcusable for it to be happening on such a regular basis. It comes down to who ever is in charge not being on top of it, pure sloppiness and disregard. A Jesus calling app developer sent me a message and said they had resolved the issue and please send follow up to their email. At this point I’d rather warn people that the app is broken again, when you open it this morning it says Jan 1st …. They don’t have competent developers… since they changed to a monthly fee it is constantly broken! Not recommended! If you sign up you’ll just be incredibly frustrated. Look for a different source.

2. 5/5I can’t restore my purchase on my new iphone 11

   I bought the original Jesus Calling app several years ago and have loved reading it every day. It has spoken to me personally in ways that I can’t explain. It’s like each day is written just for my needs in mind! I really miss being able to access it on my new iphone11. I have emailed Harper Collins regarding this several times and have tried all of their suggestions: restarting my phone, removing and reinstalling the app, restoring my purchase, updating the app, starting the app with the audio, etc., to no avail. I still only get the one-week trial version of the app and am very discouraged and disappointed! I miss being able to read Jesus Calling every day. It has been a huge blessing in my life and I have told many, many friends to buy the app themselves over the years. It is a gem. I wish someone could help me get my original purchase back onto my new phone. This is my second review. I am disgusted! I have contacted Harper Collins several times over the past 4 months about not being able to access my original Jesus Calling purchase. I still cannot access Jesus Calling and am very angry now for being betrayed. The “restore purchase” button does not work.

   This devotional is not consistently available to Legacy users. We have appreciated Jesus Calling digital devotional for years. Sold as a once in a lifetime purchase we have enjoyed and purchased it as a gift for many others. Now we can’t use it. I am baffled that Harper Collins is unable to treat the Legacy users consistently. The app will work as promised for short periods of time at the end of which the demand for additional subscription is made to continue use. Then miraculously the app will work again for a while. This sequence recently repeated, working well for the last half of the month of April 2024 until May 1, now their is a demand for subscription to continue. If it is Harper Collins intention to squeeze all legacy users to abandon their app purchase and get on board with the new subscription model I wish they would state that. This inconsistent treatment makes them look incompetent and leaves us legacy folks frustrated. I have attempted to get resolution from Harper Collins both by email and phone calls. If I receive a response the promise of help or callbacks drifts down a black hole somewhere, follow through is not an attribute of their customer service teams. I gave a rating of 3 stars as an average of my experience, 5 stars for the content of the product and 1 star for the effectiveness of communication and follow through of Harper Collins. My wife and I are in our 70’s and desire to use the Jesus Calling app we purchased so long ago.

   Please do not reply to my review with the same “Developer Response” provided to anyone who complains that they can no longer share daily reading. Your cut and paste identical-feedback implies the Developer is not attempting to convey this critique for further resolution… apparently this will not be revised. The direction is condescending, as the reviewer will have figured out that the “3-dot share feature” does not allow sharing but merely is a marketing ploy for person with whom I want to share the message - the person has to buy the app to read the finished sentence and passage. The 300 word copyright limitation should not stop us from at least choosing which 300 words we want to share. This app took away the share feature before but allowed me to choose 300 words to share without the link to buy gimmick. Then the app brought back ability to share entire message and now takes it away? Why? The people I share with (my children) either have app or can download by family sharing…. So app paid for numerous times should allow me to cut and paste with other app sharers…for my purpose….I just tried to send my 3 college kids the daily reading as family text (which I often do), and couldn’t even select 300 words …. I have done this for years…. I cannot do now (Not sending them “3-dot”link to app)- negates the purpose of message. I absolutely love Jesus Calling and just want to be able to share messages with my kids to help keep them Christ-focused…. I’d pay upgrade fee to at least copy and paste my choice of selection!! Please change app!

5. 1/5Love the content, but the app is plagued with so many bugs it never works

   I love the content very much and want to use this for daily devotion and when I need to meditate on the words of God. But the app has been plagued with bug after bug and this app has yet to function properly even for once, for years. I purchased the audio narration to add to my app, and sometimes it progress with no sound. And after they added ‘subscription’ with additional material, it demands that I subscribe to access my already purchased content by locking me out of all contents. I have already payed one-time fee and I will not subscribe, yet it is blocking part of the user interface with ad and other things I am not interested in, and will not go away. In the new year, “TODAY’S MESSAGE” defaults to January 1, but when I try to open it from the library, it goes to December 26 for no reason at all, and I will have to scroll to today’s date. I do not understand why they cannot fix this app for years. It is just one bug after another, it frustrates me to no end, especially when I really need to get to the messages. I am incredibly disappointed with this app. I will have to switch to kindle and audible versions with additional purchase. I have sent multiple feedback, questions, concerns, request for refund, and they always tell me they are dealing with so many negative feedback from the customers and they are making improvements, but every time they fix one bug, a few more new bugs happen. Such a bad experience for years and I’m done.
