1. 5/5The PERFECT tool for getting to know (and love) all your parts

   If you have a baseline understanding of Internal Family Systems and are ready to get to work, this app is a truly perfect place to start. The meditations (I.e, “parts work”sessions/checkins) are both engaging snd centering—more like a “choose your own adventure” experience than a passive “listen as someone talks at you” session. The speaker’s voice is warm, human, and genuine—doesn’t feel patronizing or pandering like some other guided meditations. I also love that you can create profiles for your own parts—avatar, name, and all—and actually engage in chats with them (not sure I’ll use this feature but I like knowing it’s there!). The interface is sleek, clean, engaging, and super intuitive. Very well built with many admirable design and UX decisions made along the way. My only complaint is the mascot — a cartoon dog, named Pepe (??), in a suit of all things (???). Maybe there’s a connection to IFS I’m just not well-versed enough to appreciate at this point? The good news is that it’s the only questionable or I’ll-conceived element in the entire experience. If you can get past this “part”—or embrace him for the protector/guide he’s trying to be—there really is a wealth of wisdom and actionable strategies packed into the app itself. So glad I found it.

2. 5/5Lovely app. I don’t like the mascot

   I like the app so far. First day using it and I had a valuable time connecting with one of my parts through the chat feature - this is fantastic!!! So excited to continue using it. There are bugs - the Parts section doesn’t always allow me to make edits to specific parts (like changing the image for a part). The video tutorials don’t always load. I have to keep shutting down the app and opening it again to get it working. I really hope the bugs get fixed soon. I don’t like Pepe the dog icon. I like dogs but I don’t find Pepe to be cute at all. I went as far as changing the icon of the app on my phone desktop. I find it distracting and silly-looking. I changed the icon to something more neutral. In the app, Pepe still shows up in the app even though I changed the icon on the Home Screen. Ugh. I hesitate to share this app with others because I’m embarrassed by Pepe…

3. 4/5Helpful app, check-in/reminder feature doesn’t work though

   I have only used the guided meditation feature so far (without the AI), but it’s clear even just from those that the app was designed by people who are really skilled at using IFS. I often get overwhelmed when trying to do parts work on my own, and even just the default guided prompts are really helpful to adjusting to extreme emotions and sensations. Unfortunately, the reminder feature, which seems like it would be really useful, doesn’t work at all for me. When I try to set reminders to check in with specific parts, I can’t even change the suggested time to the time I want (it invariably gets set to 24 hours later, so if I’m trying to set the reminder when using the app on Thursday at 10 AM, the reminder will only be able to be set for Friday at 10 AM). But the issue with the timing doesn’t even ultimately matter because the reminder never saves. When I hit Save, there’s a spinning icon like something is loading, but the reminder never actually gets set. It just stays at the spinning loading icon indefinitely.

   Extremely helpful, almost magical experience of being guided to connect with parts within an AI session. That said, I can barely afford the cost of the app monthly, much less the barrage of workshops that are marketed to me thru email every week which seem fairly important for me to attend. Nowhere else in the app do you get a comprehensive introduction to IFS or your parts. It’s also very unclear how many parts to expect to unearth or interact with. So I personally feel lost sometimes even though I thought I had a simple enough base of knowledge of IFS. Learn elsewhere or expect to need to attend $60 2-3 hour bootcamps/workshops to really know what you’re doing. I also really wish you could access a summary of each session and the parts you met, and have those takeaways saved under the respective part’s section in the app. It all feels hodgepodge and some information is saved, while some isn’t, and is only mentioned in an email summary that’s sent to you at the end of a week.

   I’ve only done the guidance with AI through this app once, because I just have the free version…. for now. But I was really impressed with the guidance session I had, and the review afterward had so much information! The feedback made sense to me, and it was actually all helpful and surprisingly accurate information! I’m impressed with this app, so far! I think IFS Treatment is incredibly helpful for people who have had any kind of trauma in their lives. The app is a tad on the expensive side, I think (why I took away one star). $100 for a year isn’t bad at all, but some people may not have $100 to spend on an app… and the only other alternative is $20/month. If a person cannot pay the $100 up front for the year, I would assume paying $20 a month wouldn’t be sustainable, therefore not having full access to such a helpful resource. Other than the price to access everything the app offers (the most beneficial parts), this app is really amazing!
