1. 3/5Decent app for organizing, but beware of glitches

   I had the app for a while. A decent amount of time passes, as I’m putting in what information I can… it’s good for six or seven months, and the app suddenly bugs out and I lose all the information - no sign I had done anything with the program - that’s a lot of work that I had spent looking up info on books, and other collections - names, worth model numbers, etc, etc. Just randomly disappeared. “Ok, one time occurrence - I guess I will try again” - put in a decent amount of info for my collections again… then poof - gone again - luckily it wasn’t a lot of time spent before it got lost again. I deleted the app. It was great while organizing, because you could file it and organize it and keep track easily practically by any bit of information - but I got frustrated with it bugging out and losing all the information, several times. I finally got tired of it and deleted it. This was years ago. The app has been updated, so I’ll give it a try and if it keeps working, I’ll adjust my review.

2. 5/5Puzzle Lover

   I’m loving using the iCollect app. I paid for the single collection to keep track of my puzzles. I took pictures of all the puzzles and the box lids since I really started puzzling during the pandemic. I also started taking pictures of the side of the box with the barcode since I heard there was an app to track puzzles. At the New Year, I downloaded iCollect and started putting in the puzzles I did in December. Since I had pictures, I did this when I was on vacation. At home, I’m maybe 2/3rds done scanning the barcodes and entering all the boxes I have in my to do pile. I found I had a few duplicates. It will also help me from swapping or buying puzzles I already own. I’m working backwards with all my pictures but I’m only in July of 2023. I figured this would be a great thing to do while recovering from foot surgery. It’s been kind of fun to put them all in and see what I’ve done and what I actually have.

3. 1/5GREEDY DEVELOPERS WITH NOTHING TO SHOW FOR IT

   I downloaded this app about a year ago and started adding items, it’s basically a glorified spreadsheet. At the time the lifetime sub was $30 for all items. I decided to wait as the app needed lots of work and the customer service was non-existent. 6 months ago they increased the price to $75 with no change on the app looks whatsoever. I just got a notification today that is going up to $140 for lifetime which is insane as the app looks exactly the same. I was hoping they made it more attractive in terms of the design and such not to mention it lacks a lot of features. This to me smells like developers playing fear at consumers and shortly after the app support goes away leaving all customers hanging after paying a subscription, it’s happened to me before with other developers. Also I’ve read where people buy full subs and then they still play ads and ask for more money on PC. It’s a never ending money pit. I was considering buying at current price but I’m glad they’re increasing price so I can delete and look for other better suitable options.

   You know what’s funny? I was excited to find this app. I collect so many things. I start playing around, it’s lagging and dated, there’s a lot of basic features that could be added to make it more user friendly but I’m just glad it exists. I start logging and eventually I hit a paywall. That’s no problem, I expect that. So you can pay $49 to keep going with your one collection or pay $79 ? To get unlimited in all. Well that’s a no brainier. I opt for that one, everything’s great. And I get more spots for pictures! I log in today, and now it’s only letting me add 4 photos. What? I look back at my previous additions, the extra photos are gone. It’s frustrating to lose this, but now I’m being hit with another paywall for “pro”. I’d like to have that back, so I look. $80? For a YEAR? Is it to pay for your crack addition because that’s the only explanation that makes sense to me. You have to be smoking crack if you think this app is worth two $80 investments within a month, and $80 every year until you decide you’re over it and we all lose the data because you stop paying for us to have access. And you’re saying $80 is the half off price… soon to be $160 for a year… Ridiculous. Truly.

5. 5/5Loyalty begets Loyalty

   I loved the Sort It apps. Everything you’d want in this sort of thing. Always so excited about how great they were, God knows how many people I turned onto them. I happily paid for the bundle as I knew I’d use many. Although first advertised to Sort It app users as a major new update to the Sort It apps, when icollect finally arrived it came with a new price tag as the developers decided it was too big of an expansion for just an update, so they created a “brand new app”. A brand new app that is capable of accepting all of my Sort It app info, but no more. As explained to me, I can continue to use the old apps, but they won’t continue to update them, therefore they will eventually become outdated and unusable. So, having been a loyal, free-advertising consumer for the Sort It apps, I was ready to get going! Except loyal, free-advertising consumers were going to have to pay all over again. Because it’s a new app. Not the update they originally thought it would be. Having gone back and forth with customer service, I now know that consumer loyalty isn’t particularly something they’re concerned about. So why won’t I pay again to use this company’s app? For the same reason you shouldn’t. When they decide again to do a major overhaul that’s too big for this app, what would keep them from abandoning this one, and just charging us for another one? Well, nothing really. They’ve already done that! So, loyalty begets loyalty. And I’m taking my time, money and loyalty, to those who will reward that with loyalty in return.
