1. 5/5Wonderful/Perfect device in carving for elderly

   My 100 year old mother who was able to stay in her own home and for the most part was able to take care of herself starting having issues with her medication due to short term memory issues. She would forget what day it was and could not remember if she had taken her medicine or not. Often time double or triple taking her meds. We had the weekly daily trays, calendars and other reminders but it was not working. The Hero was a godsend. It took a tremendous load off my plate. I could monitor and and even dispense remotely if needed. It was so easy for her to use and prevented any chance of double taking and also notified me if she missed a dose. The app is easy to use and too many excellent features to cover in this review. Monitoring the actual pill count in the unit is amazing. The operation was flawless in the 9 months that we used it. I have told everyone who will listen about this great machine and service includeing family, friends and our doctors and nurses. The help line was quick and profession the few times I needed them to answer a question. When we no longer needed the unit the return was quick and simple.    This app and its companion machine have changed my life forever. I have a very intense pill regimen and also a busy life and constantly I would not only forget to take my meds but also lose track of when to refill what because I could never keep track of things and frequently would run out of essential medication. I tried other apps where you have to manage your own pill intake and those didn’t work. I tried using the apple health app and that helped, but wasn’t enough. Since I purchased this machine I am reminded daily by an incessant alarm from the machine about the time to take my meds, on my own preset schedule, the machine is locked up and secured and dispenses only the correct amount of medication each time and won’t leave you alone until you actually collect and take the pills. You can also set up as needed medications, add password to dispense to avoid accidents with others, and the app is constantly tracking and giving you feedback on your pill intake and how many pills you have left, etc. I can’t say enough great things about this device and I am shocked more people don’t have it! Also: you can purchase this using your fsa/hsa account!!!

   The Hero medication dispenser has been a game-changing solution for our family. Our adult son has autism and epilepsy, and his twice-daily seizure medications are critical — missing a dose will cause a seizure. In the past, we used an AM/PM pill caddy, but it left room for dangerous mistakes, like accidental multiple or missed doses. Hero completely solved those problems. It only dispenses the right pills at the right time, tracks every dose, and alerts us if one is late or missed. The passcode lock means our son can’t access unscheduled meds, yet the light and chime still let him be independent when it’s time. We even use the “On Demand” feature for his allergy medication, which is a perfect fit. The device looks great, the app is easy to use, and the peace of mind is worth far more than the reasonable monthly subscription. On top of that, Hero’s customer support is phenomenal — when our first unit was delayed in shipping, they immediately sent a replacement, kept us updated with tracking, and even followed up after delivery. Hero has given us safety, independence for our son, and true peace of mind for our family. We couldn’t recommend it more.

   If your patient’s Internet goes down, it keeps dispensing pills for about 3 days, then stops, cutting the patient off their meds until someone fixes the Internet. My 95 year old mother lives alone and I live 1600 miles away. I used to put 6 weeks worth of pills in a 28 day plus a 14 day pill box and call her everyday to make sure she took them, but she gets confused and sometimes would “re-organize” them, etc. I thought the Hero would solve the problem, so I got one and set it up. A few days after I got home, something blocked the Hero so it lost its connection and would not re-connect. After 3 days, it cut her off of her meds. She, I and Hero support spent 2 hours on the phone trying to figure it out. Eventually, we had to have her open up the thing (which as not easy for her) and take out all the little trays, then take one pill out of each every day - a huge step backwards from my previous method with all her pills for one day in each box. I finally found an IT guy to go out to her place and get the connection up again and it started working again. Support has indicated that there is no plan to resolve this, so if you have an IT person nearby who can come help if the Internet goes down, great; if not, there is a notable risk that your loved one will get their meds cut off.

   Hero has absolutely changed my life. After a medically induced coma I was unable to remember which medications to take and what time to take them, or the constant changes because of my fragile health. The Hero machine, app, team, and software were designed for my success and saved my life. After one accidental medication interaction I couldn’t trust those around me or my memory to properly dispense my medications. Hero was the only product at the time that had this solution; however, I have not and will not change devices or services. I have had family try other machines, and even purchase a machine (without an app) for home use; however, all have stopped using their chosen attempted alternatives. Some people wonder about justifying the monthly expense and I can tell you, from two years of experience; it is well worth it. It’s not about not having to put pills in a box for weekly consumption, it’s about the life saving capabilities of this machine, service and team. How can you put a price on the value of your life? To summarize my use; I utilize the machine to manage 10 medications during three different distribution times. It works perfect for any medications that may be controlled or frequently abused by others. The app logs every pill transaction like an ATM. I’ve used it in medical emergencies when we have had to pick up the machine and leave right away for family related travel. I’ve used it on the road, during travel, and even utilize the care taker function for my wife to monitor the medication levels and distribution. Why spend $3,000 to have your own machine without an interactive app or customer service department available? I’ve had to reach out to Hero at 0200 on a Sunday and they’ve been available and more than helpful to correct any issues. Bottom line; Hero is a hero…
