1. 3/5Good device; not so good app

   The hero device is great for scheduled meds. It’s helped me manage meds for 2 people. But it doesn’t work that great for “as needed” meds, and the app is lacking critical features that might make me return the devices soon. Here’s the details: There’s a lot of configurations to dispense multiple doses per day and multiple pills for scheduled doses. But “as needed” PRN meds can’t be controlled well. You can restrict the quantity they can take in a day, and require a passcode to get access to it. But a lot of meds have a time window ( 1 every 6 hours up to 4 times a day etc). The app doesn’t allow you to put the time restriction in to prevent taking meds too soon. You can only restrict it to 4 per day, but they could dispense all 4 at once if they want. It should be configurable to only allow 1 pill to be dispensed every 6 hours, but if us not. Another BIG limitation of the app is that there is no way to get the historical data out. A big reason for using this is to track which pills are being taken when (especially with pRNs like pain meds). But hero said you can’t extract the data, nor can their admins extract it and email it either. So there is no way to get to your data. This is a HUGE problem. Hero, you need to add this feature asap!!

2. 5/5Wonderful/Perfect device in carving for elderly

   My 100 year old mother who was able to stay in her own home and for the most part was able to take care of herself starting having issues with her medication due to short term memory issues. She would forget what day it was and could not remember if she had taken her medicine or not. Often time double or triple taking her meds. We had the weekly daily trays, calendars and other reminders but it was not working. The Hero was a godsend. It took a tremendous load off my plate. I could monitor and and even dispense remotely if needed. It was so easy for her to use and prevented any chance of double taking and also notified me if she missed a dose. The app is easy to use and too many excellent features to cover in this review. Monitoring the actual pill count in the unit is amazing. The operation was flawless in the 9 months that we used it. I have told everyone who will listen about this great machine and service includeing family, friends and our doctors and nurses. The help line was quick and profession the few times I needed them to answer a question. When we no longer needed the unit the return was quick and simple. I have zero hesitation in recommending this to anyone needing help with med distribution. Thank you HERO, you really were our hero to our family. Lou Jones, Missouri

3. 5/5Hero is a blessing for helping me care for my Dad!!

   My Dad struggled with consistently taking medications, and because I live an hour away I could not monitor his meds daily. Traditional Pill organizers were not good enough. We have been using Hero for 6 months now - Hero has been AMAZING and such a help! Not only do I know that my Dad is taking his meds & the correct ones, but since I am not with him every day, it gives me another way to check on his safety since I can see on my Hero App if he has dispensed meds at the needed times or not. Everyone who has seen the Hero device has been very impressed and I have had no major issues with managing it or the device’s performance. If you are considering Hero, you do need a capable person to help manage it in person on a semi-regular basis; if I was not able to visit my Dad & his Hero device regularly this wouldn’t work as well for us. More people who take meds & especially elder care doctors should know about Hero!! Thank you Hero Team for providing a great solve to an important issue!!

   The Hero medication dispenser has been a game-changing solution for our family. Our adult son has autism and epilepsy, and his twice-daily seizure medications are critical — missing a dose will cause a seizure. In the past, we used an AM/PM pill caddy, but it left room for dangerous mistakes, like accidental multiple or missed doses. Hero completely solved those problems. It only dispenses the right pills at the right time, tracks every dose, and alerts us if one is late or missed. The passcode lock means our son can’t access unscheduled meds, yet the light and chime still let him be independent when it’s time. We even use the “On Demand” feature for his allergy medication, which is a perfect fit. The device looks great, the app is easy to use, and the peace of mind is worth far more than the reasonable monthly subscription. On top of that, Hero’s customer support is phenomenal — when our first unit was delayed in shipping, they immediately sent a replacement, kept us updated with tracking, and even followed up after delivery. Hero has given us safety, independence for our son, and true peace of mind for our family. We couldn’t recommend it more.

   I have a very complicated medication regimen. I take more than 10 medications. Many people suffer negative outcomes due to medication errors. Prior to acquiring the HERO machine, I would spend countless hours attempting to load multiple pill boxes. The process was very time consuming, and I would often lose my place and have to start the loading process all over again. I could not end a day with 100% certainty that I had completed my medicine regimen accurately. All of that changed when I received my HERO machine. I cannot imagine my life without this machine. If you are considering using a HERO machine, but feel hesitant; hesitate no more. I assure you, you will not regret deciding to try it. You will wonder how you ever got along without it. Your health depends on keeping your medication regimen accurately. At the end of the day, you will be able to see that you have succeeded in taking all the appropriate medications. This can only benefit your medical condition and give you peace of mind. The ability to touch base with a medical professional monthly to questions you may, have is an extra added bonus.
