   Still have some issues with how clear some of the icons used in the app are. Main example is the ones for air flow directional control (i am now using the hand held remotes for that function instead of the app. On the timer functions? I wish there were ways to label them better. But still this is way better than what I had before… an basic Emerson digital thermostat on my old forced hot air oil fired system (still in place as an emergency backup, although eventually, I may have it ripped out) and window air conditioners.

   This is a review only for the app. The Gree mini split system has been working fine for over two years. There are really two types of problems with this app. One is the user interface is just terrible. The user interface has you doing all kinds of things to do very very simple things. For example, if you want to adjust the louvers to spread the arrow across the room that requires looking into additional menus at the bottom and playing around with four buttons on the bottom, which are not intuitive. The biggest headache is that if you use the standard IR remote to set temperature or fan, speed or pretty much anything when you start to use the app, it resets all of this vice versa when you use the iPhone to set this settings on this app, when you then go to the wall mounted remote, it resets all the settings again very frustrating. Gree needs to update this app so it comes into the 21st-century, the design and also the controls need to be adjusted so they can be easier to use and create better functionality for what is typically a good mini split system

3. 1/5Third, and current review: Down to 1 star as it lost BOTH of my minis

   The first error said, occasionally, that the mini in my den had disconnected. I would wait, and it would reappear a sort time later. Then, it finally said it was disconnected, and stayed that way. I went to reestablish the connection using the power and mode buttons on my remote. It reset, but when I went to use it, it disappeared again. After that, no matter how many times I tried, it wouldn't reconnect. I finally decided to delete the den, and add it again. It wouldn't work AND it effected the WiFi signal to my bedroom Mini. It now said it was a virtual set up! It wouldn’t work at all. I tried, again, to reestablish this mini, to no avail. I finally decided that the app had messed up so I deleted the app and reinstalled it. It recognizes that there is a mini in my bedroom, but it says disconnected, and it won't reconnect. It doesn't recognize the den mini at all. The beeps sound saying that the minis reconnected, but neither one did whenever I tried. So, now I can't use my WiFi at all! And, because I’m disabled, I NEED the WiFi! I'm not happy! Come on, Gree. You're supposed to be the best! But your WiFi is TERRIBLE!

4. 1/5Unreliable at best

   App very unreliable when I first installed the minisplit with WiFi module in spring of 2018. It kept loosing connection with the device and I’d have to go to the device to reconnect it. Then after a few months it seemed to keep connection with the device. Now my device disappeared from the selection menu and was replaced with the virtual device. There is no way to add my device because the add device + icon is missing from the upper right corner. I deleted the app and reinstalled it. Still missing the add device icon. Now it’s totally unusable. What a waste of $100. A major reason I went with Gree was their affordable WiFi module and app control. Without this I’d rather buy Now I’m looking at other brands with a reliable WiFi control for several other homes I want to do installs at. Gree has let me down with this WiFi module and app. Update- Finally figured out that I wasn’t logged in. It kept timing out when I was trying to log in. I selected the region options twice as another reviewer suggested and was finally able to log in. Now the add device feature is available and I was able to add my device again. Seems to be working for now but we’ll see if it’s able to connect when I’m off of the network. Update - after a day device is changed to ‘disconnected’ again. Not able to make any changes through the app. Totally useless and frustrating. There are messages to me in he app but I can’t read any of them because it’s all in Chinese. I have no idea what they are about. Please fix this so I can read the messages.

5. 1/5Compressor Failure - Warranty not honored

   After only five years of a 10 year warranty, my compressor has failed and Gree will not honor my claim. Federal law states that if the unit is no longer produced and the part under warranty cannot be provided by the manufacturer, they are to reimburse or swap out the unit for a comparable one. Gree has Stonewalled my contractor for my claim after telling us that there was only one compressor in stock in the world and they do not know where it is. A reminder that I have a 10 year warranty and they are giving me an issue and have not helped out at all in this process. Another company that likes to scam the people who trusted their product and could not standby and honor their own contract. Do not buy a Gree Sapphire or any other product. This information will also be going on Google reviews and the news. If they would like to leave me in limbo, then I will let the world know as much as I can. 2026 and companies can’t even do the right thing.
