1. 2/5HOW DO I KNOW ITS COOLING WHEN AWAY?

   PLEASE display the ambient temp reading from the mini-split thermostat to the Gree app, as well as the outdoor temperature as read by the condenser thermostat or a weather service. These temperatures will provide more insight into the unit’s overall health and functional capacity, along with cooling/heating predictability. EXAMPLES: A: I had an F0 error (low refrigerant) error twice in the past. I might have sealed the leaking connector long before the F0. The app doesn’t display or notify me of this error. Why not? B: With two units, it would be easier to troubleshoot whether cooling limitations in one room were due to condensor, mini split, refrigerant, high outside temps, or poor room insulation. C: I remotely set my garage Gree to 77 F. My wife wants to know when its’s cool enough to go out in garage. But currently I cannot give her an answer. Who do you think she mad at : 1. ME or 2. GREE? If you guessed #1, you are correct. D: I have a NEST and 2 ECOBEE thermostats on my 3 home HVACS. Both of their apps include this information. I wish GREE did the same thing. BASIC/ADVANCED: I believe that the majority of Gree owners would appreciate this info. If I’m wrong, then please add an ADVANCED/BASIC option anyway for the minority, because we will appreciate it.

2. 1/5Update broke functionality

   Updated to the last version and it completely broke the functionality of managing my concealed acs through app, previously the U-match devices appeared fine and were working as expected, after the updated the have disappeared now I can only see a single icon with an arrow pointing down and the number of devices I have, when i press it shows as if its downloading something and upon completion says “3019 plugin is downloaded” but nothing changes and the devices dont show up. I have tried to pair the u-match devices again but nothing is fixed and same display and behavior. Please fix asap as the previous version was working fine

   This is a review only for the app. The Gree mini split system has been working fine for over two years. There are really two types of problems with this app. One is the user interface is just terrible. The user interface has you doing all kinds of things to do very very simple things. For example, if you want to adjust the louvers to spread the arrow across the room that requires looking into additional menus at the bottom and playing around with four buttons on the bottom, which are not intuitive. The biggest headache is that if you use the standard IR remote to set temperature or fan, speed or pretty much anything when you start to use the app, it resets all of this vice versa when you use the iPhone to set this settings on this app, when you then go to the wall mounted remote, it resets all the settings again very frustrating. Gree needs to update this app so it comes into the 21st-century, the design and also the controls need to be adjusted so they can be easier to use and create better functionality for what is typically a good mini split system

4. 1/5Extremely Insecure System – Major Privacy Flaws

   I live in a three-family house where we all use Gree AC units, and I was excited to try this app to control them remotely. Unfortunately, the experience has been deeply concerning from a security standpoint. To register your device, the app says you need to press the Wi-Fi button on the remote – but it doesn’t matter whether you do or not. As soon as the AC unit is powered on, it becomes discoverable to anyone nearby who has the same app. That means any neighbor or passerby with a Gree-compatible device can gain control over your AC – without your permission or knowledge. This is not just a minor flaw; it’s a critical security issue. There is no authentication or pairing mechanism to ensure only the rightful owner can register and control the device. Anyone within range can hijack the signal and take over your system. This type of behavior, unfortunately, reinforces the stereotype about poor cybersecurity in Chinese tech products. Gree needs to implement proper encryption, pairing authentication, and restrict device visibility during setup to avoid leaving people vulnerable. Until major updates are made, I would strongly advise others to avoid using this app and to consider more secure alternatives for smart climate control.

5. 4/5Getting better

   Still have some issues with how clear some of the icons used in the app are. Main example is the ones for air flow directional control (i am now using the hand held remotes for that function instead of the app. On the timer functions? I wish there were ways to label them better. But still this is way better than what I had before… an basic Emerson digital thermostat on my old forced hot air oil fired system (still in place as an emergency backup, although eventually, I may have it ripped out) and window air conditioners.
