  1. 5/5Sourdough

Got my first order in time for our delayed Christmas celebration. My kids and grands love bread s much as I do. I was a bit concerned if it would really taste fresh and it absolutely does. I’m in Ohio and bake bread often, sometimes daily. But my sourdough does not have the crunchy outside or the tangy taste of San Francisco. I’ve been craving more SF sourdough all day and decided I just had to place another order NOW ! I do’t like to wish my life away but the 10 days until delivery will seem like 10 months. I thought it was pricey when I first found it, but after having my whole family enjoy it so much, I am not hesitating to order more. It’s worth the cost!!

  2. 1/5Worst Customer Service ever

I’ve been using gold belly for years, and I don’t even want to think about how much money I’ve given them during that time. It’s less than a week before Thanksgiving, and they just delivered a dessert to the wrong address - they delivered to the billing address instead of the shipping address. After waiting 47 minutes for the Chatbot to finally connect to a representative, daniel’s response to me was “you should’ve been more careful“ because the confirmation email that I’ve never seen and is probably in a spam folder somewhere would’ve given me an insight into the fact that they had screwed up the information for the order. He was very clear about how unfortunate it was that he couldn’t do anything to replace or resend the dessert unless I agreed to pay for half of the original order price. A total abdication of responsibility. I’m never using the service again, I will definitely tell others not to use the service, and this is among the worst customer service experiences I’ve ever had during the holiday season.

  3. 4/5Total fail

Update…. Support contacted me and apologized for the issues, and advised me to reinstall the updated version of the app, which fixed the issue. Very impressive as it is very rare to hear back directly from the company over an app review. The app was indeed fixed and it looks great now. It’s too late for the discount now., but maybe they’ll offer another one soon. Downloaded the app to take advantage of the coupon offer and it shows the Goldbelly splash screen, then the background with the I love NY taxi and that’s it… no menu, no options, nothing I can do. Removed it,reinstalled, same issue. I’ve used Goldbelly for years and they’re great, but stop offering discounts only if you use the app, which only is good for iOS…big fail there, and even then, it doesn’t work. Offer your regular web customers those specials too!!

  4. 4/5Some kinks to work out

Downloaded, opened, and browsed for a few minutes and hit a few issues: -After the login screen, I was immediately thrust into the checkout flow. Why? Logging in doesn’t indicate intent to check out. Not a fan of that; was just browsing. -I only logged in because I couldn’t find a way to “favorite” things and thought maybe I had to be logged in to access it? That was accurate, because now I can see the heart icon. It’s not intuitive in any way that you must be logged in, though. -Also had the app freeze on me and had to force it closed and restart. This occurred after watching a video on a product page, then returning to the previous screen of my favorites. Despite those few issues, still love Goldbelly and adore what they’re doing. The app is easy to search and navigate (though I do miss the similar suggestions on product pages that you get on the website). I’ve been able to send friends my favorite hometown foods and access some of my SF favorites once we moved to a different city. It’s such a genius, innovative way to explore foods from around the country, and I’ll absolutely continue to order and enjoy!

  5. 3/5Mediocre Goldbelly experience

I’m shocked to see this app has 4.9 stars - I give it 3 at best. I ordered through Goldbelly twice, one weekender box from New York City and a meal from New Orleans. Both orders had hiccups. My box from Kossars x Pastrami queen arrived on time but had multiple incorrect items. One of the incorrect items I was allergic to which was very disappointing given the price point of these boxes. When I reached out to customer service they had quick replies initially but I’m still waiting for a response for my refund for those incorrect items. My box from Acme oyster house was the most disappointing and the reason why I won’t use this service again. I selected my preferred delivery date and during check out there was no warning that this date might need to be moved. Upon checking on my order status I saw that the delivery date had been moved to a date I wouldn’t be home. Goldbelly customer service said that’s typical and there wasn’t anything they could do. Therefore, this service is incredibly unreliable if you’re planning a dinner/meal. It was also disappointing that I had to find this information myself and was never notified. Upon shipment I received my tracking number which had an even later delivery date - making this delivery now 5 days late. What’s the point? When I asked to cancel this box since my food would be in transit for 5 days with simple ice packs, I didn’t feel that was safe. Goldbelly assured me that defrosted food is safe to consume and the food should still be cool to the touch. I personally don’t feel safe eating food that has been in a cardboard box for 5 days in unknown conditions. Their attention to detail is lacking and they clearly lack consideration for other peoples time. I don’t think the service is worth the price.
