1. 4/5First time was rough - but every other ride was great

   The very first time I called a Gett taxi, somebody takes our taxi! Our driver picked up the wrong person! I tried calling him multiple times and he didn’t respond, and I couldn’t cancel it. However, once I rated the driver thankfully I was only charged 1 shekel. That’s never happened to me with Uber, where I’ve taken hundreds of rides. However, every subsequent ride I took went great, as Gett is super convenient compared to hailing a taxi in Israel. Being able to pay with credit card was especially helpful. Just make sure the taxi uses the meter or they can still charge you more than you expect, like a regular taxi, although all of my rides either used the meter or charged an appropriate amount. It would be awesome if at least an approximate rate is shown like it is for Uber so you have an idea of what you will pay before calling a taxi.

2. 1/5Horrible Service- Scam Service

   Reserved and pre-paid for a car to surprise my mom for her 70th birthday celebration and meet and greet at the airport. My mom also had a hip replacement a year ago so she can’t walk a lot. Upon arriving to the arrivals, the driver called to say he was at terminal 5 but we were at terminal 3, this was also noted on my booking. It took him another 10 minutes to get where we were located and he asked if we could find him. He didn’t meet us at arrivals to assist with our luggage and no signage at all. I called him again since another 10 minutes went by and he said he was at terminal 3 floor 2 parking and if we can come to him. Eventually we said yes because we wanted to leave the airport. After taking two elevators and walking around the parking garage, we found him. No meet and greet signage at all. I was so upset because I was looking forward to surprising my mom for her birthday with signage and easy access to a car to get to the hotel so she wouldn’t need to walk a lot but it was completely ruined. They offered coupons for a future ride which I won’t be using and £25 credit onto my bank account when I paid over £100 and extra for meet and greet and a tip for the driver. To me, it seems like a scam to lure people into using their taxi service by marketing a meet and greet but not providing the service. Please do your research before and go with a reputable company as I wish I did.

3. 2/5Good app. Poor control of drivers.

   Drivers in Israel often ignore the app’s requirement if metered travel and instead will try to charge a set fee. This requires haggling. They will often drive away if you don’t pay what they ask for. Also, I found that sometimes drivers do not go to designated meeting spot. They park somewhere nearby, out of sight, and then cancel the ride saying you were a “no show.” A third problem is drivers commonly will accept the ride and then cancel it after you waited a while. This creates great delays and frustrations. There seems to be no negative consequences to the drivers in any of these scenarios so the problems persist. What is most egregious is that Gett charges the rider under all of the above circumstances. This requires the rider to pay or deal with Gett customer service. This has been a generally poor experience with unacceptably long waits and inconsistent results including them prematurely terminating the conversation. The app itself has a good interface. They fall short when it comes to their systems, their business-fear of losing drivers and their people.

4. 2/5Rides In TelAviv

   We were recently in TelAviv Israel. We rode several GETT rides. It is interesting to note that about 40% of our drivers were somewhat dishonest about prices unless we applied serious questioning about the charges before they drove off towards our destination. The prices per pre determined priced destination were often different on The very same day and time UNLESS we corrected the driver as he tried to overcharge. Especially to the Airport and from the airport. It’s maddening. We THOUGHT that maybe GETT had solved this age old problem of Driver overcharging. No no. Not just yet. Furthermore most drivers did not take into consideration which side of the street we were waiting on and upon arrival they wanted US to cross the very busy streets and pick our way through traffic fences put in place to prevent pedestrians from crossing. We are 75 and 77 year old seniors. AND our GPS’s used outside of Gett rides CLEARLY indicate what side of any street the GPS user is standing. It is possible that the GETT GPS provider does not get that refined? Can you please fix this small but dangerous error? Most Uber drivers arrive on the side of the street that you are waiting to be picked up. It’s not that difficult to correct I suspect. All else was nice and the drivers were very good. Some rides were executed with correct pricing plus common courtesy.. Thank you.

5. 1/5Avoid Gett at all cost

   Terrible app. I live in Israel and have used the Gett app a lot. Unfortunately, I had to stop using it. Too often I was refused a ride because I had luggage yet I was still charged a cancellation fee. Yes, the drivers will refuse to give you a ride and you will still be charged. Sometimes it took 5 such cancellations before I could get a ride. Gett will not refund you. The last drop was when I got charged double the normal rate to go home from the airport. The driver turned off the meter and just entered his own made up price into the system which was double of what I usually pay. I tried to resolve this with Gett a day later. Gett’s customer service is non existent. They keep asking me to provide information that they already have in the system such as the invoice and after several weeks of back and forth they said they are not responsible for the driver’s behavior and that I can complain with the Ministry of Transport. Fortunately there are other providers such as Yango. I do not recommend Gett. As a customer you have no recourse with them.
