5/5It’s just so cool!
I’m really enjoying using Focos. The app is well designed and, given the complexity of the things it can do, pretty darned easy to use. It’s also nice that recent versions of the app can work with all photos in your Photos library, not just photos shot in Portrait mode. I mostly use Focos for post-processing rather than live shooting because the recycle time between live shots in Focos is a little slow for my liking. I use the native Camera app, ProCam, ProCamera, or a stand-alone DSLR for shooting, and then use Focos for post-processing. Post-processing features are where Focos shines. Per its name, Focos enables you to easily adjust focus points in your image, regardless of where the focus point was in your original image. For example, say you have a photo of two people, one in the foreground and one in the background. You can simply tap on the screen to switch between putting one person into focus while blurring the other. You can also adjust depth of field, bokeh (blurring intensity and shape), and lens type. You can also adjust lighting, bokeh, exposure and other effects for different focal planes in your image or for the image as a whole. For example, you could apply a soft light on a focal plane that’s behind your primary subject. This kind of thing is really pretty easy to do — and you can do it without worrying much about the terms I’ve used here. The output produced by Focos is high quality — I’ll leave it to the medium-format camera aficionados to debate the meaning of “high quality” — but suffice it to say that I’ve been able to use Focos to produce results that have consistently “wowed” people, and the results look great printed at 8”x10”, which is the largest I’ve tried so far. Get this app. It’s way cool.

5/5Still loving this app
I do underwater photography with my iPhone and find this an indispensable tool. I love this app, and I recommend it to everybody who is shooting anything macro with their iPhone. There’s still a lot of things I would like to see improved. More zoom in patch and better patch options! The pop-up zoom window when working on details doesn’t actually zoom in more than the main window. I’d like to see better line definitions, or way to highlight the lines when trying to patch. Apple Pencil integration, my fat fingers can only do so well with the current set up. I realize it’s completely nich but better outlining and identification of sea creatures so that does a better job of mapping around fine hair like tentacles and fins (total corner cases). When shooting with raw, it removes any configurations already applied in other applications when you open it and focus, I’d like a way to either preserve the other edits or better editing, and particularly tools for color balancing. Color, brown blue and green waters specially within intense levels, such as in northern CA is an art form, So it’s frustrating to have to switch between so many apps to get it done… only to end up back to lose any of that work. Partly a workflow problem, but still frustrating. I’d like to be able to build a few of my own preset filters so I can quickly apply effects the images that I use as a regular basis, such as brightness split back ground down 80%, hdr 10, contrast 10 etc.

5/5Taking iPhone Photography to the Future
It is a pretty rare thing for me to take time out of my day to provide a written review of any of my many purchased iPhone apps. Rarer still are the apps that I am willing to pay more than $5.00 for…gosh I remember the days when a pricey app topped out at $1.50, and they were pretty high end stuff for their day. Focos, for me, is that unique gem of an app that deserves some well-deserved praise! I initially heard about the app through one of the many review sites as I was searching for photography apps that could highlight the power of my new iPhone 11 Pro. After a day of playing around with just the selectable focal plane feature in Focos, I happy took advantage of the In-App purchase option which took this app from amazing to absolutely incredible (your mind will be blown with the AR features)! Being a professional photographer, I am always viewing the world in a series of potential captured images. I either have a DLSR or my iPhone in my hand at all times throughout the day. As I explore Focos and delve deeper into the incredible image manipulation capabilities of this application, it could be that my DSLR may have to take back stage for a while. I have already recommended this app to several of my photographer friends, and it only takes a couple of quick demonstrations to show off the unique and powerful toolset that Focos provides to both the casual and professional photographer! Well done, highly recommended and 5 stars to the developers!!

5/5Great App for the “Bokeh” Effect
I had a iPhone 7 Plus and a Google Pixel 3 that had the hardware and software to take Bokeh effect pictures naturally. Well I wanted an iPhone 8. Not the 8 Plus because I wanted something smaller for my hands. The iPhone 8 doesn’t have the additional camera that it needs to take Bokeh pictures like the 7 and 8 Pluses have. It certainly doesn’t have the amazing software that the Google Pixel 3 has where it’s able to take Bokeh pictures with its ONE CAMERA! So I did the next best natural thing and searched online for any apps that can take Bokeh like pictures. Google recommended me this app! It certainly does take great Bokeh pictures, AND it also modified some of the past pictures you took that’s already in your gallery. So it makes those pictures have the Bokeh/Blur effect too! It’s wonderful and beautiful really! I am really pleased with this app. It also will either make a copy of the blurred/bokeh picture and you can keep your original unsalted photo, or it offers to overwrite/modify your original picture to make it seem like you originally took a picture with a Bokeh effect! It’s wonderfully and a Godsend for the iPhones who don’t have the portrait lenses! Like the 5s and above! 😍🤩

4/5Problem lately, but used to be perfect!
I've used this app for some time. It has been my "go to" app for taking pics for selling my items on Poshmark, Mercari, EBay, etc. I am a full time retailer now!.... But lately when taking pics one after another, just as I always have, it freezes kind of. It will make the shutter sound and stop on the screen as tho it has taken the pic, but there is no pic below. I can continue to press the shutter button and it will continue to do those things and there will still be no pic. If I force close the app, SOMETIMES it will fix it, sometimes it will not and I just have to stop working altogether. This is a huge inconvenience! This was my last ditch effort before finding another app. I didn't want to delete it and re-install it because I'm not sure what work I would lose in the process? Idk. Maybe a developer might read this, maybe they don't even care about these. Who knows. It was worth a shot for me, if nothing else, I'll end up knowing I need another app... Is anyone else having this issue??? P.S. that's the only reason I deducted a star.
