5/5Problems Solved
(July 20,2022) Over four years and still my go-to fitness app. It’s great. Update three (March 1, 2019): still my daily go-to fitness app but some performance issues have slowly crept back in. They are annoying but I'm leaving my rating at five stars for now because it's still a great app. Updated again (Sep 22, 2018 - after v5.0 release): the inaccuracies and performance problems have been resolved. This is now my go-to app for fitness. Updated review (Jul 12, 2018, after two years of use): it's getting better. There is still a major issue with duplicates but accuracy has improved. Increased one star. I've been using the paid version for a couple months now and there are some major issues. I've been using a very accurate heart rate monitor with it. One issue is that the calorie count is grossly inaccurate. A 45 minute high-intensity workout with average heart rate at 150 is usually accurately measured as 800 calories whereas a 22 minute walk with heart rate in the warm-up zone the entire time chalks up over 2000 calories! It also frequently doesn't sync with Apple Health. I feel like I wasted $10.

4/5Updated: I just love it
Update: Monica got back to me right away and all I needed to do was click “restore purchases” a few times to trigger communication with the App Store. BOOM! I’m now a Pro Member like Im supposed to be. Easy peasy. So that said and done if they decide to add nutrition logging to the app, which I hope they eventually do, I’ll change this to a five star rating. The app is great. I love it. It has almost all the features I need and want and some I didn’t even know I wanted. It sucked me in with the free trial and I was instantly hooked. Everything was simple to understand. The layout is fresh, easy to maneuver and, my favorite part, editable. So there’s nothing that I see that I don’t want to and there’s nothing that I can’t see that I do want to. However, one day I woke up and my free trail was over. Boom! I was a free member and none of those amazing features were usable. So I gladly paid for the yearly membership. Who wouldn’t? The app is incredible! Well, take my word for it and be cautious. Pay for a month first and see if it works because it didn’t for me. The only feature it gave me was nutrition. Everything else is saying I need to upgrade. So I basically just paid ten dollars for what I already have to input into a free app anyway. Smh. I’m disappointed to say the least and hope that my ticket gets responded to promptly because I don’t like paying full price for a fraction of a product.

4/5Awesome; wish it had native Garmin Connect support
Awesome app for analyzing heart rate. It is especially designed for and plays extra nice with the Apple Watch and iPhone native sensors/Health app. It is one of (if not the only) app I use to analyze my workouts besides Garmin Connect that doesn’t automatically sync with it - and this is because it is one of (if not the) best app to use to analyze heart rate throughout an activity afterwards to see how much time you spent in each zone and when. So, I sync Garmin Connect to Apple Health, and then import my workouts individually and manually from Apple Health using tools built into this app. It is missing some data, such as the GPS map, and is clunky at best. However I love the heart rate data and am kind of a data nerd - if the developer would pay the one time $5000 fee to access the Garmin Connect API (I think that price is about right?) and allow me to import workouts automatically from Connect I would gladly pay the $10 a year premium for that. I know it would take more than just me for them to come out (obviously a lot more), but speaking for myself it would be one of the few workout apps that I would actually pay for - the way the heart rate data from workouts is presented is just so good. I know, I could always get an Apple Watch but I really love both the accuracy and amount of data from my Garmin device AND the Garmin Connect platform. I’ll keep using it by importing my Garmin workouts via Apple Health one at a time after workouts to analyze my heart rate data in this app but if workouts could be auto imported from Garmin Connect platform I would gladly either not mind seeing ads for that or upgrading to the pro version.

4/5Where’s my map?!? (plus a few other tweaks for a perfect score ;-)
I have been using this app for nearly ten years, and I want to say that I love it, and when it works correctly, the truth is that I really do love the app. I would gladly give it 5+ stars on those days, but sadly it randomly omits to display the uploaded the GPS map to my phone….the strangest part is that the map can be seen on my apple watch and if I change my apple watch, (I own multiple watches,) the handoff feature of the watch allows for the map to be seen on the other watch in the FITIV app’s history so it seems like the data has been imported, even though it is not displayed on the phone. I have asked the support team to help, but there doesn’t seem to be any explanation. I also miss the leaderboard. What happened to it?!? Where did it go??? I don’t want to have to invite friends and family. I just want to see how I compare to everyone else who is using the app or filter so see how I compare to other women my age. Finally, a downgrade happened many years ago. The app used to have one additional column on the splits screen that was a running total of the total time after each split. I know it is a simple addition problem to calculate this for myself, but it was nice to have it done for me. I would make one last suggestion to the app beyond fixing the issues I have mentioned, and that is to show the location on the map as you scroll through any of the data metrics, time, elevation, heart rate, speed, ect. I love to have the data available, and fortunately my workouts are truly for my personal health and pleasure since the app doesn’t quite function reliably and some of the features that once existed have been removed. Please consider fixing these problems and I would happily add the fifth star.

2/5Disappointing in recent year
Update, nearly 8 years later: Sadly, the developers have focused on areas of no interest to me, a cyclist, while stripping away or neglecting to fix (for years) features that were useful and motivating. It’s been a good run, and I used to evangelize for this app, but I believe I’ll be looking to other apps in the near future. —— Previous 5 star review from 7 or 8 years ago: Using the watch as a heart rate sensor/monitor with great graphic readout on the watch, the iPhone or both, along with audio cues/haptic feedback when I enter and exit my self determined training zones! Great workout graphs and summaries of my workouts displayed in the app with the data pushed to Health. Seemingly endless options that allow me to set this up and use it just the way I want. Obviously crafted with love by dedicated and capable programmers who are clearly workout/health enthusiasts. I read the weight loss story of the guy who originated this app on their website and I totally related. He gets it and so does the customer success staff. I emailed in a bunch of questions and received immediate, personal response from an enthusiastic, well informed and friendly individual. I haven't been this enthusiastic about both software and developer since I first met the 1Password/Agile Software folks. First class application and team!
