  1. 4/5Safe but has some problems

Yes Firefox is safe – I've used it for years and it is still good for many things. However I've found recently that it struggles with PayPal transactions and often fails. Specifically, when making a payment for an online purchase using PayPal, one usually clicks on the PayPal option at the vendors web page and it should then transfer the buyer to the PayPal web site for completion (or it sometimes just pays the amount due using the preferred credit card in the buyer's account at PayPal without first transferring to the PP site). But Firefox does neither. It just freezes on a new tab named "Blank." On the other hand DuckDuckGo browser works flawlessly for these transactions — the transfer to PayPal's site is automatic and immediately a screen comes up that allows Touch ID to be used to enter the buyer's PayPal account without looking up the password. What could be easier than that? So DDG is my main browser now. Although I'm not an IT guy I understand that DuckDuckGo was designed for safety from its inception and I believe it IS safe. But anyway, if I want to use the PayPal option for online payments then apparently I cannot do so using Firefox, so there is really no choice. I have to use some browser other than FireFox and I've chosen DuckDuckGo.

  2. 4/5bad ui changes to a good browser

I would at the very least like the option in settings to revert the recent ui changes, specifically everything that's happening with the tab tray. I know that lack of specificity makes a review less helpful, but I genuinely dislike ALL of the tab tray changes. I don't like the removal of the "inactive tabs" dropdown menu at the top. I don't like the top bar (the one with the button to switch to private browsing mode) being reorganized and moved to the bottom. I don't like my swiping automatically being interpreted as switching to synced tabs when I'm trying to close a tab. I also don't like the apparent removal of the banner popup at the bottom of the screen when I close a tab that allows me to undo that. I can get used to the reordering of the toolbar, but the tab tray is kind of a pain now. the mobile ui was fine before the update; I don't see the point of spending time and resources fixing a non-issue. not that I'm universally opposed to ui changes! but unless users report a problem or request a feature, it doesn't need to be changed every few months/year like a password. it's a shame I can't just use an extension to change it back on ios due to apple disallowing them, otherwise I would.

  3. 5/5Best browser anywhere

Firefox on iOS feels like a thoughtful fusion of privacy and polish. It’s the browser I reach for when I want to browse confidently without feeling like I’m losing control of my data. The app opens quickly, and the interface is clean and uncluttered, letting the content take the spotlight. I appreciate how smoothly it syncs with my other devices when I’m signed in, so I can pick up right where I left off—whether that’s a tab I left open on my laptop or a password I saved earlier. Privacy is where Firefox shines. Enhanced Tracking Protection is effective without making pages feel broken, and Total Cookie Protection helps keep third-party trackers at bay without me having to think about it. It’s reassuring to know there are solid privacy defaults baked in, and the settings to fine-tune things are straightforward rather than overwhelming. As someone who spends a lot of time reading articles and debugging web pages, the built-in tools are genuinely useful. The Reader Mode makes long reads less taxing on the eyes, and the overall performance feels snappy, even with multiple tabs open. I also value the open-source ethos behind Firefox; it’s comforting to know there’s a transparent, continuously improving foundation behind the product. If you value privacy without sacrificing ease of use, Firefox on iOS is a strong choice. It respects your autonomy, plays nicely with other devices, and delivers a smooth, human-centric browsing experience. Also, the sending pages to named devices is TEH BOMB!!!

  4. 5/5love firefox. wish it had stronger backwards compatibility

i swear by firefox, i use it on my laptop and my phone, but i'm stuck with iOS 15.6.1 and i notice there's been an increasing number of websites with elements that don't function on mobile, but function fine on my computer. login and file upload buttons that don't work, collapsible containers not displaying content properly, images being loaded but invisible, etc. when i went to troubleshoot, i seemed to be the only one having these issues, so i assume its my os version. i'm beyond grateful that firefox is even still downloadable and updatable at all on my os, but it would be nice if it was smoothed out a bit more for anyone falling behind. additionally, on a separate note, the ai features are unhelpful, unnecessary, and bloat the file size of the app. even if i can turn it off, its unsettling to have it there at all with the growing insecurity of the internet. if you say youre not collecting our data, we cant just take your word for it, everyone's lying about that these days. most of your users value privacy and control. youd do better to ditch the ai and other modern tech trends, and double down on marketing yourself as a secure browser in an age of surveillance. currently, people who want to avoid ai have nowhere to go. the market is wide open. i know im just some guy but please give it some thought 🙏

  5. 5/5WHY MOZILLA WHY?

I have been using Firefox as my sole browser since 2008. They have had a fantastic and secure browser for a long time and it has been a great relationship. Apple products on the other hand are complete garbage in the usability department. I bought a Mac mini in 2014 because my hard drive went out on my 5 year old gateway laptop, within 18 months the Mac mini was unusably slow. And now for my Ipad I got this little dandy last year and I have never owned another piece of technology so infuriating in my life, the one respite was the fact that I had Firefox on it, the one program I knew would never let me down. I was asked to do a major update a couple months ago, and I figured what’s the harm Firefox has never steered me wrong. When the update was complete, lo and behold I have lost all my loveable Firefox usability. They have updated me to what is little more than a safari skin. I am permanently unable to access any of my Firefox account information. I can’t change my password because all of my information will be lost and with it still working on my other devises (pc and galaxy) I cannot afford to risk losing that information. This one star review is not for Mozilla as a company but their decision to bow to apple and its BS.
