4/5Almost perfect
I’m a big fan of Element and this version is a huge improvement visually and the performance is a big step up. The only thing holding out back from being my main daily driver is the lack of threads and spaces/subspaces. Once these features are added, this will be the only Matrix client I will ever need. Well, gif support would be great too. Im very excited to see how Element x develops

3/5Huge improvement in UX but comes with a loss of some functionality
The app looks and runs amazing, but there is no user management nor message search, so I need to keep the old element installed for more advanced actions. PLEASE restore the “Modern” message UI, the app would be a 5 for me if that was brought back; the bubbles take up too much screen space for my taste!

4/5Better design, functionality shortcomings
Coming from Element's desktop app, this is an amazing experience comparatively from a design perspective. It looks and feels so much nicer. However, I do find it unfortunate that some UX/functionality is lost in the process. Namely: Spaces, threads, and many settings. I don't think the app is absolutely unusable just because of these, but I'm hopeful that these shortcomings are addressed.

4/5Good, but could be BETTER
Something I would really love from Element would be to bring back Subspaces or something similar to Discord's channels. It would help organize separate conversations within the same group. That's literally the only thing Element is somewhat missing on. It's otherwise a fantastic chat space!

1/5Rust cult for the win
After many frustrating hours of troubleshooting my reverse proxy and having to consult the wizard known as chatGPT, I give up. I started to read through all of the complaints on this apps Reddit thread. And there it was…stupid frigin rust is part of this app. Had I see this sooner I would’ve abandoned all hope and moved on to a matrix alternative. This app is complete trash. After getting ESS Community stood up and celebrating that small feat I land on this pile of you know what. Can the Rust cult stop ruining good products? I wish I could give this app zero stars, it’s that bad.

26.05.0
Good news, everyone! This release includes a lot of great new features. First of all, we now support live location sharing. This allows you to send real-time location updates in a room, so your family and friends can see where you are, even when the app is in the background or your screen is locked while you’re out jogging and listening to music. In group chats, only moderators can use this feature by default, but admins can easily change this in the room’s permission settings. We’ve also enabled searching the public room directory. You can now browse the wide range of public rooms your server has curated and find and join the communities that interest you. Last but not least, users can now request to join rooms that support this specific access setting. If you come across an interesting room that allows join requests and you don’t have an invite, you can simply ask to join and wait for a moderator to review your request and send an invitation. Moderators can view all pending join requests in the rooms they manage and decide whether to accept or decline them. At the moment, creating or configuring rooms with the “ask to join” setting isn’t supported, we only support existing rooms with this access type. Stay tuned for a future update!
