  1. 3/5Needs a tutorial

This is my first shot timer and it seems to have a lot of helpful features. Maybe the features in this app are common to people who have used shot timers before and they can jump into this app w no confusion at all, but to a newcomer, this app is overwhelming. It really needs a tutorial guide to explain what all the features are and how to use them. The Shooters Global YT channel has some videos that briefly cover the features but they are not detailed nor very helpful. They go over some of the features way too quickly. These videos are simply too brief and do not go into the nuts and bolts of this app. I think this app and the two timers that goes w it will be very informative and helpful, but not if you don’t understand what the features are and how they work. As a side note, turning off the SG Timer Go needs some work as well. Holding down the Function key and briefly tapping the Start button is way to finicky to work consistently. It usually takes 1 out of 10 trys to get the timing sequence correct. I can’t wait to use this timer, I just wish I had some more info to use it more productively.

  2. 3/5Solid Device with Room for Improvement in Video Features

I really love the timer itself, it works great and does exactly what I need. However, my main issue lies with the video mode in the Drills app, which was actually the main reason I decided to purchase this device. The biggest frustration is the inability to select multiple videos at once for downloading or deleting. When I try to hold down on a clip, there’s an option to “select more,” but choosing it causes the app to crash and bounce back to the video gallery. This makes managing footage extremely tedious, especially since I run a lot of practice drills and would like a quicker way to access or clear my videos in bulk. Another drawback is that video mode only uses one focal length. It would be a huge improvement if the app allowed access to the full range of iPhone camera capabilities like the wide-angle or telephoto lenses. Finally, the app occasionally crashes during recording. One time I ran a drill and hit a personal best, only to find out the video wasn’t saved because the app failed to function properly. If the video mode were more stable and flexible, I’d easily give this product five stars. As it stands, it’s a great concept held back by frustrating software limitations.

  3. 4/5Good but could be much better

Hi, I really like the SG timer and app but I think it is missing some pretty basic functions that would take this to the next level for serious competitors. 1) add SEARCH function in Calendar, Stage Library, and Training. This way I can quickly find what I am looking for so I can save time during live or dry fire and find a drill or stage in the calendar so I easily do analysis of improvement over a period of time. 2) add the ability to give a quick stage a name and maybe even add notes. 3) add something similar to Training but for live fire. This way I can enter in drills by name and then quickly pull them up at the range and shoot them. Then I would have a training record for livefire just like I have for dryfire. I do the same drills for both so why not be able to train the same way. 4) add all shot times to stage results along with the other data like hit factor, total time, etc. If I video, all the times and splits are captured on the video, but if I don’t video then none of my times or splits are saved to my history for that stage. I like the video function but I don’t always have the time to set up video every time I go to the range. Hope this helps!

  4. 4/5Wanted to love this…

But cannot say I do in good faith. Buyer beware. When using the Apple Watch to run or display, this app is writing false workout data to your apple health and fitness tracking. They claim it’s required to maintain a connection but I don’t have another app on my watch that needs to write bad data to my other apps to function. Edited to update: I was able to test the watch function this morning for a few hours and it appears that it’s no longer writing to my fitness data. Massive improvement. Thanks to the dev team for keeping on keeping on.

  5. 1/5I really want to like it

I really wanna like this thing. The problem is it is full of bugs that don’t get fixed. You can delete a whole bunch of drills and next time you start up they’re back. If you’re synced to the iPhone and control it with the sg2 you have wonderful things like it duplicate your drill in the iPhone, but the title will be slightly different. Do you think this wouldn’t be a problem except it keeps doing it. Next would be when it doesn’t start properly doesn’t give you a ready Signal it just starts rolling. It will also switch from whatever drill you’re in to free running when you start it sometimes from the SG2. When you report bugs, they’ll tell you to make a video and that they can’t duplicate any of the errors. Like I’m gonna be making a video of something with a second iPhone to video. What’s going on in my one iPhone while I’m shooting. Get real. So yeah, don’t buy this thing.
