1. 3/5Needs something more then it would be great…

   You don’t need this app to determine group size or even offset from center. You can do this with a ruler and eyeball estimating. Even CEP is easy by hand. What would be great is a statistical estimate of variation from the group center…not only standard deviation but also 95% probability. For example if you have 9 shots through the same hole and one shot two inches away, that’s a two inch group. But statistically it’s a very small group and that’s more meaningful. An app can make this calculation but it’s hard to calculate by hand. Please consider adding this sophistication

2. 5/5No longer greatness (see update)

   It used to be 5 stars when it was supported. Now, on iOS 12, it won’t even start. On iOS 15, it asks for a login. The description here says it has a “not now” option for the login; it doesn’t. If it’s there, it’s layers into some login path. Developer’s website would not load, so no longer supported apparently. UPDATE March 18, 2024: With the release of version 2.0.0, I’ll bump it back to 5 stars. I can continue on without signing in now. I think the interface is a little cleaner and more intuitive. It doesn’t resolve my issues with iOS 12, but that could be due to an older phone’s capabilities. Still wish it would work though, even with the old version.

3. 2/5Update ruined it

   Was a great app for a long time. Really liked being able to put multiple POA / groups on a single picture. Would have liked to see a feature where you can select two points for scale then have a pop up ask you how far apart they are, rather than having to always use a set value. The 2-stars come from the latest update when ruined the accuracy and my trust. I don’t know what’s wrong but I did a tall target test which should have been 44” high and +/- 0.25” windage. The app gave me 2.63” high and 1.7” right. Nowhere near accurate. Ran it multiple times to ensure no user error. A rollout like this, especially for a paid app, is unacceptable. The core function is ruined and a simple test would have shown them immediately.

4. 2/5Update broke the app

   This app was solid and one that was highly recommended for gathering data on the range. Until update 4.0. Since then, it has yet to work properly and presents inconsistent measurements. One example being: ‘Adjust to zero’ and ‘elevation/windage offset’ reflect two different group centers. If those both use inches, it should be the same number. If you have the old version, don’t update. If you are considering downloading, don’t until it’s fixed. There have been a few updates since the rewrite of the app, yet the core feature of providing accurate measurements has not been fixed. I have the old version, but work with 5 others who updated and now can’t use the app to get accurate measurements.

   I love this app. It takes pictures of your target, mesures it, grabs caliber, distance and other measurements you want - easy! I know there are some other enhancements in the works that will make it better. Look around at articles on software like this. BX is always there. When working up loads for a new-to-me caliber this app was indispensable in accurately marking and analyzing my targets. For OCW testing you can measure distances to the center which is more accurate than pencils and calipers. Can’t go wrong with this app for dialing in your loads and giving food feedback on your shooting.
