5/5This is the best electronic music app on IOS full stop.
I’ve tried many iPad music apps over the years, and it’s always been enjoyable, but I’ve always felt quite constrained, and iPad has for the most part been a toy, for me. Drambo changes all of that. It’s hard to explain exactly what this app does to a newbie, and in fact it’s almost easier to list what it doesn’t do, which is audio tracks. Apart from that it does basically everything else you could want and can fit into the workflow of basically anyone. You can use this app as a standalone modular grove box, that can host auv3s. It’s similar to Bitwig or Reaktor stapled to a Digitact, but it really doesn’t stop there. You can also use Drambo itself as an AUV3 inside of other hosts such as AUM, or Logic Pro and that’s where it gets crazy. It can be a modular synth complete with wavetables and tons of other toys. It can be a a robust full featured sampler. It can be a midi sequencer with clip launching and song mode, which is a game changer for aum. It can be a midi CC modulator, with LFOs and MSEGs, which is also a game changer for aum. It can be a multi effect processor with reverbs, delays, compressor, ect. Even if you only want it for one of those use cases, it’s worth the money, and if your at all like me it will soon work its way into every project, and become your go to for just about everything. If you can only get one app for electronic music making this is the one. I would gladly pay triple what this costs.

5/5Stellar. Drambo does all the things, and does them well.
I’ve had Drambo for a few months, and it just keeps impressing and surprising me. There is a bit of a learning curve, but there is also plenty of help via the dev’s site and included tutorials (not to mention the new Help system with the last update.) That said, once you get over the hump Drambo is fast and intuitive. This is one of those humbling apps that makes you think twice before buying that new shiny hardware or app… “can I build it Drambo?” The answer is most likely “yes.” The in-app purchases are worth every penny. The UI makes excellent use of screen real estate, and helps keep you focused on the task at hand. I can’t stress how important that part is, and how other iOS apps drop the ball in that realm. The modules sound great. Is this the best, smoothest, angriest Sallen-Key filter I’ve heard in the digital domain? Probably. I’m a “hardware” guy and it takes a lot for me to get excited about iPad music apps. Drambo, Koala Sampler, and a knobby MIDI controller will keep m happy for the foreseeable future.

5/5Already My Favorite App
All right, so maybe some people are going to think it’s too early to throw around the f-word. But honestly, I think this app is on par with Ableton in terms of being the sort of software I’d actually want to use live. It can legit hold its own next to hardware synths. And that sequencer. It’s a real blast. I mean, it’s even fun to use it on iPhone... iPhone! It does something that I’ve wanted for a while but never really expected to get: a reliable composition/performance tool that I can carry with me everywhere but still use in the finished song. I can actually sketch out a song on break or something and then go home and continue to work on that idea. And I won’t just abandon the original patch because I have better options on my desk or computer. So yeah. This app is no joke. This is kinda the most fun I’ve had making music on my phone. And of course the iPad version is no slouch.

5/5This app is from the future!!!!
EDIT: What???! Version 1.24 is just nuts! How can I add the 6th star to my rating??? I’m absolutely blown away by this app. I just barely scratched the surface with it and tested maybe 2% of it# power, but can see that it has enormous potential. The app feels like a software at its 10th generation, with years of development and improvements, it is hard to believe that it’s just 4 months old. The concept of this app will be easy to anyone familiar with node workflow. There are many programs like this for desktops, mostly for video post production and 3D such as Davinci Resolve, Nuke, Houdini, etc. except this app makes everything MUCH easier by providing connections between nodes (here called modules) for us. Since the architecture of this app is extremely open and flexible, it seems very likely that the app will grow and evolve. Few things I wish for the future updates would be: ***ability to lock the sequencer steps area of the interface. It is easy to accidentally touch a step and erase it / add it while working on other things within the interface. ***some sort of “tree” or “snapshot” view of all dependencies and connections within the created instrument. I see it as a very simple graph which makes it easy to see everything that is going on.

5/5Great tool but why add’l purchases...
Drambo is absolutely amazing. It is hands-down the most complete, functional, feature-packed app I’ve ever used. The possibilities are seemingly infinite! I do find it a little ridiculous that, after spending $20, you then have to pay even more to unlock additional features. 20yrs ago, this would have cost thousands & its size would have taken up half a room. To have something like this now that costs just $20 & fits in the palm of my hand is absolutely incredible. But, when we live in a time in which there are so many apps & so many free options, despite a majority of those apps paling in comparison, people still would mostly settle for free. $20 for an app is almost unheard of, no matter how much value it may produce. When that’s the reality & someone pays $20 for an app, that’s an incredible compliment to the developer. It’s validation. To then tack on additional purchases in the app just seems wrong IMO not saying the devs time isn’t worth anything, but the move reeks of greed.
