To me, paying a monthly or annual fee for a journal just seems crazy. I really appreciate the fact that you can just buy this app, unlock everything and be done with it. The interface is pleasant, I appreciate all of the features it offers and to me, it’s everything you need for a great journaling experience. Buy a $30 Bluetooth keyboard with a slot for your phone or iPad and then boom, you’ve got a free write for less than $100. It’s also nice that you can sync between all of your devices. If I feel like just jotting something down on my phone while I’m out, I can. If I want to use my Mac, I can and if I want to use my Bluetooth keyboard and go sit in the sun to write, I can. It’s great! I can’t praise it enough. It saved me a lot of money and that’s something I always appreciate.

4/5One Notable Flaw, Otherwise Fantastic
I’ve explored the ins and outs of this app and it’s everything I want it to be (the lifetime premium gives me confidence in its longevity, that and the excellent UI gives it an upper hand) with one exception. After about 400 words in an entry on IOS, any further words I type are invisible. They show on the keypad for spellcheck but it appears to coincide with the scroll limit and black border whilst editing a specific entry. I would very much prefer to have a single entry for each day, so this limit is a considerable problem for me. Fix it to at the very least not allow typing past that point and I’ll be more content with it. If it could allow and display longer entries (preferably up to 2,000+ words), then I’d be very happy for that. (It’d be 5 star material imo)

5/5Quickly becoming my go-to journaling app
As someone who enjoys to having good quality tools to work with, I spend time comparing what's all available on the market to find the best suited tool for my needs. Everlog checks every box for me aside from lacking cross-platform capabilities, specifically for Windows computers. As a software developer I look for apps that are visually appealing, intuitive to use, respond quickly without performance lag, and perform their functions reliably without losing or compromising data. I also prefer tools to be cross-platform, have data export/import capabilities for backup management, and have a "lifetime purchase" option so as to avoid costly subscriptions. As I said before, Everlog checks all these boxes save for being fully cross-platform. That said, it does everything else so well that I'm willing to use it despite being inaccessible from Windows computers. I even took the time to boot up and restore my 10 year old Mac Mini so I could use this app in a desktop context. To conclude, my favorite UI design feature of Everlog is its incorporation of the color schemes in the smallest details of each notebook. The colors are a helpful visual indicator to keep track of the journal you're in.

3/5Good with issues
I've really enjoyed this app and I have stuck with it for a lot longer than I have many similar applications. I even bought the lifetime premium subscription. But the annoyances it has are wearing on me. For example, on the macOS app, I can't write entries longer than five or so paragraphs, some right-click operations don't work correctly (like correcting spelling mistakes) and sometimes when I copy content from it, it's jumbled in extremely odd ways. The iOS also has issues. Sometimes it will freeze completely upon launch and other times it will let me type, but the characters will lag behind by nearly seconds. Normally, I might blame my phone's hardware, but I have a fairly new device and I haven't experienced these issues with other applications. It would also be nice if it supported GitHub’s flavor of Markdown and automatic exports to cloud services or GitHub repositories. Things I like about it: - It’s a beautiful interface/UX and a joy to use (when it doesn’t have issues). - Lots of neat features like journal entry prompts, tags, image support, weather info, location info, etc. - Passcode protected. - Supports configurable automatic and manual backups. - Daily writing goals and notifications for previous days. - Templates.

5/5So Much Potential
So I been looking for a journaling/ note taking app that is simple, very visually appealing and provides a place to get lost in your text. This app has much of what I been looking for. I do have a few additions I would like to see. I do think a recently deleted folder is needed. The app could provide different fonts. Also the ability to upload a picture or document to a journal post would be nice. Overall I like what I see so far. I see some people make some valid points but this app is early in development and should allow for some time to see if the cost is worth it or not. I believe the price is is good for the possibilities that can come from this and features for the future. I’ve spent more on new and established apps that turned out to be not so good. I think the dev is doing a great job with this project and I’m looking forward to see where it goes. The potential here is something that I want to see progress over time. Also I would love to see a native Mac version of the app.
