  1. 2/5Why did they do this?

The updates have made what should be easy, (wining a bid) into something unbelievably frustrating. i’ve enjoyed bidding on CTBids for over a year now, but the recent updates are ridiculous. In the “active bids” section, you used to be able to tell at a glance if you were the top bid. There used to be a green thumbs up if you were the leading bid or a red thumbs down if you were outbid. That feature has been removed for some reason and now when you look at your active bids, the only way to tell if you are the lead bid is to tap on each individual listings, go to the bid history tab on the item, open it, and scroll to see if your name is the top bid. For those who have MULTIPLE bids closing at once, or are going into a bid war at closing, this makes tracking and winning all your bids impossible. Next, we have the removal of the auction location from your watchlist. Why tho? If you are like me and you like to bid on several items from one location to cut down on shipping costs, this is now a thing of the past. Now you have no idea where the items in your watchlist are located across the United States unless you open each one and scroll to the top of the listing for the auction location. Another reason to drop this app. And shall we talk about the now constant ads? When scrolling through an auction, monopoly games or what have you, are about ever 8 item, and constantly open without taping them. These are bad, unthought through updates and I wonder if whoever is updating this app has ever actually used it.

  2. 1/5Was decent; now it’s broken

Update: apparently, the developers have zero interest in fixing this mess of an app, as the few responses I’ve read to the recent updates that is causing so many crashes is along the lines of “so glad to hear you are happy with the app”. Perhaps, if we reviewed in zeros and ones instead of words, which seem to be confusing you, you would comprehend that no one is happy right now and your app is BROKEN?! I’m deleting this app now, and ATTN, CT BIDS: I will not be using or recommending your sales until you have fixed this mess. The website is also a mess now. Maybe you need to spend some of those 18% profits on a new web and app designer? Really disappointing. The website is much easier to use than the app, but the app was good for quick searches or monitoring your bids on the go. A few weeks ago, that all changed. Now the app opens for a split second, and then closes. I’ve tried deleting and redownloading the app, switching to the app from the website, and both options had the same results. It shows a “check Internet connection” message at the top of the CT Bods Home Screen on the app, and then codes out quickly. This occurs, regardless of WiFi connection strength, so that message is actually an error as well. The good news is that I didn’t realize how much I was using the app, and now that I can’t open it, I rarely bid on anything, so that’s a money saver for me. But I really enjoyed the auction site, so it’s sad that they broke the app.

  3. 1/5Extremely Disappointed with CTBIDS and Caring Transitions Shipping Practices

I am extremely frustrated and disappointed with the experience I had using CTBIDS and its affiliate, Caring Transitions. What should have been a simple purchase turned into what feels like a complete bait-and-switch. I purchased a $6 item and was clearly told that the total shipping cost would be $15 all in. After the purchase was finalized, I was then told shipping would actually cost $27. That is nearly five times the value of the item itself. This is unacceptable. When customers are told a total cost upfront, that number should not suddenly change after the fact. It feels deceptive and misleading. Hard-working people budget their money carefully, and changing shipping costs after purchase makes it seem like customers are being taken advantage of. The partnership between CTBIDS and Caring Transitions only makes this worse. If affiliates are representing the platform, then CTBIDS is responsible for how those affiliates treat customers. Passing the blame back and forth does not solve the problem. Transparency and honesty should be the bare minimum for any online marketplace. Instead, this experience left me feeling misled and frustrated. I will be NEVER use CTBIDS again, and I would strongly caution others to STEER CLEAR from purchasing. This entire situation could have been avoided with clear, accurate pricing and straightforward communication instead i have to jump through loopholes to get this solved. Very disappointed.

  4. 1/5One star is ONLY due to not being able to give negative star rating.

Rude, dishonest, & NEVER FOLLOWED THROUGH ON THE DEAL/ AGREEMENT of shipping the item after I won the bid & paid immediately. Two weeks later she’s h giving me attitude due to the time I sent the text message inquiry which was at 6:38PM California time … which apparently was unacceptable of me attempting to ask about my item that hadn’t been any shipping invoice sent TWO WEEKS LATER. I paid for items I never received after winning the bid. so I sent a text message to Ask to Nancy Ward of Valparaiso, Indiana about info on a time frame, which is NOT unreasonable AT ALL. that’s actually in fact exactly what it says to do on the app lol apparently 830 at night was not acceptable to her . Which she made clear with completely unnecessary attitude & remarks. So even after I apologized & mentioned the negativity wasn’t called for- she ended up kicking me off the site, so extremely unprofessional its pathetic & all aspects bad business. She facilitated such a negative experience, I wouldn’t recommend this to anybody. Of Yeah lol read their contract too. That’s super shady. Just cuz it’s in the contract does NOT mean it’s legal. ACTUALLY AS SOON AS SHE BREECHED THE CONTRACT- the contract becomes NULL & VOID. I do plan on contacting the consumer business affairs and also the BBB and possibly the FTC about it when I get the time this week. What a waste of time money & STILL WAITING ON MY REGUND. FUNNY HOW NOW NO RESPONSE FROM HER.

  5. 1/5Exceedingly Disappointing

There needs to be a way to rate each of the various sellers on this app, so buyers can help others to know which sellers to avoid. There are some great sellers, but the more I buy, the more shady sellers I encounter. I bought two lots from one sale, some pants and some purses. There was one pair of pants that absolutely reeked of mold. So bad I don’t know anybody could miss that. The purses were all strategically photographed to mask the fact that the vintage furs were crumbling. What might have been salvageable of both lots were ruined by the moldy pants. Had to dispose of all of it, after spending $100. Bought a lot of clothes from a seller in Hawaii. The listing warned that shipping would cost at least $35, and it said bulky items would be shipped by a third party, which would also incur a $10 delivery fee, for delivering to the shipper. (On top of the buyers premium.) I didn’t realize that clothing would be considered too bulky to pack. The retail usps price for shipping my lot was $35. I was charged $128 for shipping that took 3 weeks. Had I decided that shipping was too exorbitant to pay, they would have charged me $50 to dispose of the items I bought. And they were quite rude. Many sellers don’t have a clue about customer service, and they act as if they are doing you a favor by allowing you to shop. They clearly don’t care about integrity, because there’s no transparency or accountability and good luck actually getting any response from CT bids. There needs to be a way for buyers to hide or block individual sellers. There are too many sellers that are crooks.
