  1. 5/5Amazing app, one request on new update?

Concepts team, I am constantly stunned at how you just keep making this app better and better. It literally qualifies under “such a joy to use that it actually inspires me to want to go into it, and make things.” THANK YOU. I do have one request in regards to the newest update, which is amazing: when I pull a drawing into a different “section”, I cannot pull that drawing out of that “section,“ (and then it is stuck there), and put it into a different section, the way you used to be able to grab any drawing/file and just hold to the left or right, and it would go into the differently swiped section when they were on separate pages. It would be oh, so nice if I could take a drawing from any group, from any section, hold, and drag it up to “on this iPad,” and place it into a different section, or perhaps, long, pressing a drawing/file, and within that little drop-down menu, not unlike, say, Goodnotes, they would also be the word “move,” aside from just copy, allowing you to move it anywhere you.. Or is there a way to do this and I am somehow missing it? Thank you again so much, I hope you are able to respond to this question, is the only thing that has been hanging me up just a little bit with the new update, but it is otherwise, so absolutely amazing. It is usurping Procreate for me in my professional capacity in many ways, particularly on the creative process flow, to be sure.

  2. 5/5Great app for productivity

I have been using this app religiously for the last 6 months while I have been in my masters program. It has been really useful to import slides from lectures and have such a large space to work, take notes, make shapes (actually just anatomy drawings that I store in there to use in different drawing pages) etc. There are only 3 things that I can criticize about the app. 1. Probably the most annoying issue I have dealt with is that you need to import slides one by one. Typically this isn’t a big deal but in a time crunch it can take away from study time just to import them all. 2. While I am actively using a drawing I like to keep the grid on and once that unit is complete I turn the grid off. There is something satisfying about it I can’t explain but lately when I do this it crashes the app and whatever changes I made to the drawing just before turning off the grid gets wiped. 3. Probably the most unreasonable gripe I have is that there is a cap on how much you can use one drawing. I totally get that this is due to the vectors and technological constraints. I am aware there are workarounds but I would rather just adjust how I use it than go down that rabbit hole. Overall it has been a great app that makes studying enjoyable and generally very easy. If there could be a way to import an entire pdf at once that would be awesome and if the grid issue could be fixed that would save some of my sanity.

  3. 5/5This app can represent my brain

Concepts is the app that i have been looking for my whole life. A simple, modern, feature rich, and clean notetaking and drawing app. It’s been a struggle my whole life taking notes just because i would always run out of room, or i write everything in an un-organized way and realize later that i need to reorder everything to make it make sense. As an engineering student, the graph and snap function is literally my biggest lifesaver AND IT HAS ISOMETRIC!! If you’ve ever looked online for isometric graph notebooks you’ll find that all the options are subpar. Not only does this solve that issue, it gives you an infinite sheet of it. I only have a few requests and this app would be the most perfect thing to exist. 1. Please implement syncing between windows and iPadOS. Even if it’s just allowing me to export and import a file between systems manually, it would be so useful. I came from windows and bought an iPad specifically for concepts. 2. Please allow me to either double tap or squeeze my apple pencil pro to undo a stroke. It’s kind of a niche but it’s something i became super used to and am really missing on iPad. And finally 3. I don’t know if it’s even within the reign of possibility’s but if you could somehow integrate the math functions from the Apple notes app into Concepts, it would probably break the market. In all, even if you can’t grant any of my requests, i still thank you. You have honestly changed my life with this app and i don’t think i could ever be more grateful.

  4. 4/5Overall a good sketching and doodling app.

TL;DR, good app, get it if you want more than just Apple’s Notes offerings. Might cost you a few dollars, but it’s worth it. I picked up Concepts shortly after trying Procreate, another highly-recommended artistry app for iPad. The major difference, in my view, between Procreate and Concepts is the infinite drawing space. No longer are you stuck with a single square or rectangle for your notes or whatever else, and that is a major plus. Some features are locked behind a paywall, but the “Essentials” kit is a one-time purchase on iOS or iPadOS which is an excellent choice on the developer’s part. If you want the full experience, prepare for yet another subscription service on top of the fifteen others we’re all forced into by now. A lot of the drawing mode interfaces are customizable right from the start, which allows users to easily adapt the controls to their liking in a few short minutes, and if you’re really into custom brushes or color palates Concepts has you covered there too. Maybe not as many features or as intuitive of controls as I’d like, but it’s not much to complain about. It’s important to keep in mind that this is NOT an art app, go use Procreate or otherwise if you want all of the fancy design stuff. This app is for everyone else, which is why I love it so much. I use it for jotting notes, doodling, coming up with interior design sketches, or whatever! I highly recommend it for anyone who has those desires in an app, too.

  5. 5/5Why I Use Concepts

I like to draw perfect lines. Not required, but my perfectionist soul *needs* to make perfect lines. Could use a vector program, but I like to draw! When I am drawing fast and happy my lines start to get a little j-like curl at the end. Makes me crazy! Worse yet, my hands shake now. The perfect little lines in my head are much harder to obtain. So—-Concepts. Those silly hooks at the end of some of the lines in my line art? I cut them off. The stem of that flower too thick? Tap and i can pull it closer. Change out some colors a few days later? Not a problem Having a bad day and my hands shake more than usual? Just bump up the smoothing. And any stray mark or bad line anywhere, anytime can be plucked out with a tap. For anyone that needs perfect lines, get Concepts. I’ve been using Concepts since nearly the beginning on iPad 1? Back then I used it for making patterns for stained glass. (My 15 minutes of fame when they highlighted the Concepts “C” i made up as a stained glass pattern on the app’s front page! Thank you, Ben!) Now I use it for making patterns and templates for scrapbookers. Nothing arty or technical. It does show how versatile Concepts is when an old shaky crafter like me, an engineer, or a book illustrator can use this brilliant little app for all our various purposes. Oh, can’t forget customer support. Fantastic! I had a very weird problem and was loosing work. No one in the world had the same issue. Most support people would have blown me off. Instead they spent days to think it out and help me fix my problem!

Highly recommend. The Pro restrictions don't limit experience and you can still have a quality time on the app without getting pro. As an artist who is disorganized with my writing thoughts and lore, this app actually made me enjoy writing things down and organizing.
