1. 3/5Decent Apple but annoying issues

   This app is solid and I’m able to watch the Blackhawks consistently. Biggest issue I have is the volume levels are WILD. The gameplay volumes are so soft I have to jack up the volume to hear what’s going on…then when there’s a commercial the commercials are BLARING loud and it’s so annoying. When you try to skip back it spazzes out and buffers only to load a commercial. Then trying to go back to “live” it doesn’t work so the button is useless at this point. Also at random times the app decides to skip back to something earlier in the game and the only way to fix it is to exit the app and launch it again. If these issues are fixed this would be a 5-star app!

2. 2/5Glad to watch the sox, but the app has problems.

   UPDATE 2: back down to 2 stars. The iPad app is so quiet that I am two feet away and at max volume I can’t hear it. Also, I was watching a game yesterday a bit behind because I was busy, and the app died in the 8th and the replay wasn’t available. Umm why? This happens a lot, it will sometimes take 5+ hours after a game to get the replay up, when 90 min later I can watch it on the mlb app (which is where I finished last night’s game). Why is the replay not available immediately, especially when I was already actively watching it? UPDATE: I found if I hit “start from beginning” on the iPad (NOT play live), it will keep the landscape mode! Even if I am only a minute behind. Bumping to 4 stars because I am a genius and they are getting some after glow. I have an iPhone 16 and the video frequently freezes for a second, making watching a game frustrating. I have an iPad a16 and Chsn will not, under any circumstances, allow me to full screen in landscape mode. I have tried locking the screen in landscape, and the video will briefly fill the screen before forcing it always back to a small video in portrait mode. Extremely frustrating. Pip will work in landscape, but no full screen attempt will allow it. I also have issues with the Roku app. There’s no option to hide the scores in Roku, and there’s no way to start a game from the beginning the way there is on iPhone and iPad. Frankly, not a single way I try to watch games is great. Still, I don’t have cable and it’s nice to watch the games, even if the process is frustrating every time.

3. 1/5Awful Video Quality

   I use the CHSN app on a Vizio TV to watch Sox games and it’s probably the worst app I have ever used. It buffers and freezes every 5-10 seconds, turns the closed captioning on and off as it chooses, and will interrupt mid gameplay to run an add consistently. Internet strength has nothing to do with it because all other apps work on my tv but this one is awful. Jerry Reinsdorf should be ashamed. Putting games behind a pay wall is one thing, but then allowing your fans to burn their money on an app that doesn’t work is another. 41 wins in 2024, followed up with an app that doesn’t work the following year. Can’t wait for Ishbia to take care of the fan base. What an embarrassment. I missed half of Mark Buehrle’s speech during is statue unveiling because the same Progressive commercial cut it off 3 times just playing whenever it wanted to. I envy the teams that do things the right way. We simply do not. Thanks Jerry.

4. 1/5The platonic ideal of a horrible sports streaming app

   You could imagine a world where you didn’t pay $30 a month for watching three of the worst franchises in sports. But that is not our world. What I do wish, however, is that the people who are making me pay for this privilege would spend more than 5 minutes having a fifth grader design the app. The interface is hideous. Everything takes multiple unnecessary steps. You are logged off the app at random. Games appear and disappear and freeze literally all the time. I am on a gig connection and no other streamer has these issues. And then there is just the fact that the interface is hideous. Truly hideous. Like an old AOL screen from the 1980s. Do better. Oh, and could you maybe include some basic stats along with the games, like literally every other regional sports streamer I’ve seen? This is an embarrassment.

5. 3/5Ok, but what can I do. I’m stuck with this app to watch the Sox.

   Always slow to load, and sometimes doesn’t load at all. My other apps are fine, so it isn’t my internet. Finally, connects after 2-3 tries, but then can disconnect, and I have to reload it. Again, I don’t drop other apps. Monthly subscription, but still can’t get a game because it’s national and they have a lot commentary on the side during a game that I don’t care about. Just show the game. Total BS, but here I am paying a monthly subscription so I can see my team. I hate the current climate we’re in about watching sports. Can have 3 apps and still can’t follow/watch every game.
