5/5Excellent app with lot of features
This is probably one of the best apps on iPhone. I have been using Carta since an year and the updates that they have had in the last one year beat all others.

2/5Decent app, terrible login
I would give 4 or 5 stars but the login process is horrible! Using an in app web view for a login is the worst possible login experience there is. Pretty much every app I use and even the app I develop uses a better auth flow so you can save credentials and autofill texted codes. Having to remember my password every time I want to login and only being able to remember my device for 30 days is a joke. If I can can unlock the app with Face ID then I should be able to save my credentials indefinitely. Or at least I should be able to have the option to choose for myself. Even Coinbase, where I can purchase and transfer crypto and my banking app allow me to save my credentials permanently. Get with the times and update your login process please!

1/5Lacking Basic Features
I just set up my account including 2 factor authentication with the Authenticator app. I tried to download backup codes during that process, but they did not download and I was pushed to the next step. (QA issue.) There is no way to go back or download backup codes anymore, as confirmed by the Carta chat support agent. (Design issue.) I have full access to my account currently because I have my phone with the Authenticator app set up, so why can’t I use my full access to download a mew set of backup codes? Other companies like Google allow you to generate new backup codes at any time. Instead, Carta is asking that I pretend I don’t have access anymore and submit a request (photos of my face, government ID, and a hand-written note) to entirely reset my 2 factor authentication. All I want is to continue using my existing 2-FA but create new backup codes in case I ever lose or replace my phone/Authenticator app. Google allows that for their accounts and services. Side note, if you chat with support, you cannot download the transcript at the end. You have to ask the agent to email it to you.

1/5Usability Nightmare
I have a few partially exercised grants, and it would be useful if my grants were listed by: -Grant amount -Vested amount -Exercised amount -Amount available to exercise Instead I have to manually take my vested amount and subtract the exercised quantity for every single grant. So I’m navigating back and forth with a calculator in hand trying to figure out how many options I could actually exercise. It would be much more helpful if all my vested options across all my grants were listed at a higher level with a cash outlay to help me decide if I should buy them. Options grants are listed as “xx out of xx available to exercise” — except that’s clearly not true as it includes unvested shares which by definition are not available to exercise. This app does not do a good job at helping me figure out how many shares I’m able to buy at any given time, and even if it did, I have to go to carta’s website to actually exercise anything.

1/5Gets worse and worse
I’ve had to use this for my equity shares for 3-4 years. It worked much better and was much easier in the beginning. It has gotten steadily worse. You can’t reset password on mobil. You can sometimes use safari but not always. The information you get now is incredibly sparse. You get non-access messages all the time that you clearly have access to. I’m considering selling my shares just so I don’t ever need to deal with this terribly inefficient system. I’ve never written a review, good or bad. I don’t want to expand my digital footprint. Which brings me to the next point. I shouldn’t need to stand on my head, cough three times and spit nickels to not be tracked, or cookied. All of these San Fran, tech, silicone, companies are trying to fetch stuff I don’t want them to have. These companies are in an arms race to collect as much information and data as they can on us and we should all be concerned. But even if we aren’t. You should hope and pray that your next company isn’t mismanaged with this largely useless app.
