  1. 1/5Not worth the money

I downloaded the app to help with my screen time. I was surprised and a bit annoyed when a subscription was needed. I wasn’t going to pay but when exiting out there was a 50% off the annual plan. 1) that feels scammy. Just offer the $25/year subscription straight away instead of baiting people in with the higher rate. 2) $5/week is insane! For a screen time app that is available default on iPhone? Either way I decided to try since my screen time is out of control. The interface is a bit clunky and there’s a lot of tabs at the bottom that can be confusing to navigate. The default start is to brick your phone. I don’t find this helpful or useful. I think it’s an exaggeration to expect people to brick their phone. I tried to set up some automations for when to limit my screen time. None of them would stay. I had multiple instances of automations I set up disappearing or reverting back to the default. Super annoying! I decided to add the widget to my Home Screen but it would never update. It would always stay at 99 even if it was something much lower. I tried restarting the app but that didn’t help. There were multiple times where the app would say it could not connect to the apps and I needed to refresh things. I really was hoping this could be useful. But with the scammy feeling with the discount, the automations not working or resetting, the broken widget, and the clunky interface, it’s not good.

  2. 3/5I want to love this app so badly

I haven’t ever, in the history of having an iPhone, ever left a review on a product. I have never wanted to love an app more than this. I have significantly decreased my screen time, but the glitches make it so deeply frustrating to use. The app will reset my screen time after a day of perfect use. For example, today, I know I had about 2 hours of screen time, then upon opening it, poof gone. Zero minutes of screen time and somehow 99 pick ups. It has also deleted my usage over the past week. I was proud of my progress and now it is gone. Also it has completely locked me out of facebook, I have to disable the app entirely and re-download facebook to even access it again. I can’t toggle on and off blocked apps without severe glitches. I am very frustrated that I paid money for this app and am now considering deleting it and finding a different solution. Very hopeful but ultimately extremely disappointed. I hope this will be fixed but I will be pursuing a refund.

  3. 5/5REVIEW FOR DEVELOPERS

The idea of this app is great, I needed something like this and I was trying to create an app to reduce my screen time as well. But there is something very annoying. Why do I have to pay before even using the app? Idk whats in there yet, give us like a 3 day free trial at least. Now the way you guys set it up is smart for making money since it’s like you force us to pay you show a discount several times and it’s cheap. But at the same time, if the app actually helps, you guys are providing great value so you will get your money anyways since everyone is suffering from this problem. A lot of people might delete the app if they feel like you’re forcing them to pay and they have to pay to use it without even knowing what the app literally does. Idk how you guys as a team decided to go with that option lol. I’m still giving a 5 start review though since screen time is literally rotting people’s brains and you guys are providing a solution.

  4. 1/5Had promise but uses predatory practice

App looks interesting and it seems like a lot of effort went into making it. The marketing I saw was also pretty decent so I wanted to give the app a try. It’s free to download, so I thought for sure there would be a free option. However, you can’t use the app in any capacity without a subscription. It goes through a 5+ minute spiel about how Brainrot is bad (duh anyone who downloads this already knows this) to tell you this. I get the vibe from a lot of the developer’s advertising that this is more of a selfish project to make content about rather than a genuine attempt to help people. One video he posted laments that he is losing and gaining subscriptions at the exact same rate. Maybe actually allowing people to try the app before making them sink money into it would help with this problem? Deeply unlikable campaign. Why would you waste my time and try to sell me on the app via an unskippable series of cutscenes before even telling me that I’m gonna have to pay for it? I thought the app was supposed to help you AVOID wasting time? Feels predatory, look for other options.

  5. 5/5I got my life back

Scrolling on social media like Instagram and TikTok is incredibly addictive. I tried a few other screen-time reduction apps and methods with little success. This app works for me because there are so many intervention walls which help me pause before opening the addictive apps. Then you can choose 5, 10, 15, or 30 minute sessions so you don’t get carried away. Plus, the cute brain mascot gets hurt every time you scroll, and I don’t wanna hurt him!! Now I’m spending less than an hour per day on these apps instead of 5-7 hours! I’m reading books, going outside, and working on creative projects. I don’t know the latest TikTok trends. My brain is healing! That being said, I wouldn’t say this app is perfect yet. I’ve noticed a few minor glitches (nothing that interrupts the app function). The addition of a few extra features could make it more functional and useful. Plus, the price is a bit high. I’m still leaving 5 stars because this app works! Its fundamental design is high effective, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone struggling with phone addiction.
