1. 5/5personally i’m obsessed with this app

   This app is not only a fun way to drink with your friends but also offers a great level of safety for you! Along with keeping track of how much you drink, you can let your friends know when you’re dd, when you’re home safe, if you need a ride, and much more! My favorite feature has to be the location sharing! Allowing your friends to know where you are when drinking is a great way to keep each other safe, and also when you click on someone on the map, many features appear. The most notable is the “get locations” feature, in which case the app will open up maps to give you directions to your friend! I feel safer with it on my phone!

2. 2/5The new update is an awful user experience

   I loved Beer Buddy when it had a feed that you could easily scroll through to see what your friends were drinking/posting. With the new update, there is no longer an easily accessible feed to scroll through your friends’ posts. Instead, the “feed” consists of unnecessarily long animations of zooming in on a globe to the location of where your friend is posting from and then, after a few seconds, their actual post appears. So scrolling through this “feed” consists of seeing that same animation of zooming in on the globe again and again… Gone is the ability to just simply scroll through the pictures your friends are posting… Whoever thought this change was a good idea has obviously never used social media before and/or has never once thought about user experience. Who in the creative room said “you know what would be cool? forcing our users to look at a 6-second long animation of zooming in on a globe like they’re trying to find Carmen San Diego for every single post before they can see their friend’s picture. That’d be a great way to showcase how in touch we are with current social media design trends!” 🤦🏻 Please at least make the classic feed design optional for users in a future update.. until that happens, I won’t be hounding my friends to join the Beer Buddy community anytime soon.

3. 4/5The best social media, and an almost perfect app

   Ahhhhh…. Beer Buddy…. How can I even begin to express my infatuation with this god-forsaken app? I downloaded this app following a pretty rough break up in early July, and I was welcomed with open arms by my personal Beer Buddy community. Whenever I saw my friends we would all gather around our beer, cocktails, sodas, and recreational drugs, snapping pics of them while I took out my homicidal urges in the caption of each post. It was a simple joy that quickly became a part of my daily routine. I can genuinely say that Beer Buddy has made me a happier person, however, these developers have found ways to taint this newfound happiness throughout my summer. The update that added the “Be Real” style camera, while removing the “how drunk are you?” feature, almost made me quit posting. I was so upset that my favorite social media was abandoning their original vision to chase half baked trends. Luckily, it seems like the “Be Real” style camera has been removed, but “how drunk are you?” is still missing. I would be incredibly willing to rewrite this review once the “how drunk are you?” feature comes back. This app means so much to me, and I want nothing but success for it in its long and storied future. I hope they can make the changes needed to enable this success. 4. 2/5Not happy with new Home Screen feed

   I have loved using beer buddies with my friends. However, after a recent update I am very disappointed. I don’t like how the Home Screen works now. It used to be a feed similar to that of Instagram. Someone could post multiple times with multiple different captions. Now, you only get the chance to write one caption for a whole series of pictures you have to slide through. My friends loved the old layout because we could update each other with different posts and different captions and you didn’t miss out on anything. Please change it to where you can post multiple captions for multiple different photos instead of lumping everything into one post. This was prior to the 5.0 updates. Also, I miss seeing the map of where people are drinking. That was cool seeing how far you were from people. I really do love this app but this new interface makes me not want to use it anymore.

5. 5/5Changed my life

   I downloaded Beer Buddy as a joke, but it changed everything. Something about seeing my friends pop up with a drink in hand, all over the world, made life feel bigger, fuller, and weirdly beautiful. I started documenting nights out, scenes from bars, writing on napkins, chasing the feeling of connection and chaos. Beer Buddy didn’t just track what I was drinking … it reminded me that life is worth toasting. It inspired me to create, to feel more, to say yes more often. It turned drinking into a celebration of being alive. Five stars for the app that made me want to live life with a buzz
