1. 5/5Feels like it was built for both my company and my brain.

   I've been encouraged to implement all sorts of project management or communication tools in years past. With almost all of them, it felt like another burdensome step when we already had so much to do. Also, there tends to be this fake ability to show progress… "I've moved from 40% to 60% complete on that task!" And all you've done is change a number in a program. This is different. It's so simple and quick to use and powerful, so that everyone joins in and starts adopting it right away. Successes come easily and that encourages people to use it more. Everyone is communicating and all those communications are now stored and available so no information gets lost. It delivers results right away it is changing my project management life! Totally worth it.

2. 1/5Omg hATE the update forced to do it!

   I just updated because I was told I had to do it in order to keep my service. I am very upset for some reason. I’m forced to look at a six week miniature calendar now and making everything tiny and there seems to be no option for reverting it back to four weeks for each month. I do not like the layout. I have to do more clicks now to get into the calendar and I have to try to figure out what I’m doing every day because it’s so stupid and tiny. I don’t understand why you would change something that was working so well and I have come to depend on Now! You have made it less user-friendly. I’ll have to start looking for another platform and that’s gonna be a real hassle. If I didn’t have so much stuff on there, I would switch apps tonight but now I’m going to have to take my time and transfer everything over to a new app. Do not get this app. I am really upset about this. I cannot believe you would change this drastically and make it so unfriendly to users. The Calendar no longer has times on it so all you can see is Long list of events but you can’t see the time so you literally have to click on each one to see what time the event or the appointment is at this is going to make my life so much more difficult and I’m going to miss appointments because of this. I’m going to tell everyone I know because I belong to lots of business groups and I highly recommended Basecamp in the past but I’m going to tell all of them to stay away from this app the fact that you would do this to long-term uses is really disturbing.

3. 3/5Good for aggregation and communication. Useless for “project management!”

   Basecamp could be so much effective by adding one simple tool: Reoccurring to-dos. There isn’t any conceivable reason why it doesn’t allow reoccurring to-dos but Basecamp’s lack of this feature makes the entire platform an app that I cannot recommend to anyone because that glaring deficiency costs my company about $40,000 a year to have a person that does nothing but re-enter information that has already been entered for all of our project directors and their teams that have reoccurring to-dos. It operates much more as a glorified message board and file-cabinet for documents than a project management tool. As the CEO of a company leading multiple teams with many reoccurring to-dos whether it’s writing the executive report for bi-monthly board meetings, pulling the audience list for the annual report, meeting quarterly with each project director, more than 60% of the things each project team lead does is reoccurring. Some weekly—prep for all team meeting; some monthly—review and approve bank reconciliations and cash flows; quarterly—such as update outcomes and numbers served; some annual—write annual report, hire designer, approve layout, send to printer, pull audience list; and some are on a 2 or 3 or even 4 year cycle—send update to trademark office to maintain ownership of mark and IP. And NONE of them need to be entered more than once if you had a reoccurring calendar feature. In order to get around this most of us never get the satisfaction of checking off our to-dos and instead we just keep moving the dates forward, but that makes it look like no one on our team ever completes their tasks. Our company is looking for a project management platform that actually works to help manage our work flow because Basecamp fails at its primary function .

4. 1/5Extremely disappointed

   Originally downloaded the app for the way it was set up. Easy for my brain to understand and everything was organized nicely. This new update is so trash. My brain does not adjust well to change. Especially when the changes aren’t helpful whatsoever. The old layout was far more user friendly. Also, people that like to keep things organized, don’t usually like change. We like structure and knowing what that entails. Not to wake up and check schedules and have to figure out a whole new system. I no longer have any use for this app and will now be on the hunt for a new one. “2026 is going to be one of the most exciting years on record for Basecamp — and we’ve been doing this for 22 years! Basecamp 5 is our best work yet. We can’t wait to get it in your hands.” I don’t think this statement was well thought out. This statement was made by the CEO… So far the new update has the worst reviews because it’s the worst version yet. Again, the people that use this app, don’t have time for layout changes and learning a new system when we chose this system for its functionality! GO BACK PLEASE!!!!!

5. 5/5A god sent for our org

   Basecamp has been a god sent for our small dog rescue non-profit. Staying in communication about dogs health, medications, behavior changes, adoptions, announcements, tasks etc in the moment and to plan for the future is crucial. Basecamp allows a separate work space in our phones that not only keeps everyone up to speed but allows lots of feedback opportunities amongst staff that we previously didn’t have. We are obsessed with this program. It is worth every penny! I don’t know what we would do without it. The only change I would ask for is notifications options for Campfire chat messages.
