5/5Great for language learning
I got this app to help with listening to audio files for a Chinese language class I’m taking. I wanted to be able to easily repeat certain sections and the built-in audio player on iOS is terrible for this. This app does everything I wanted and more. You can place as many bookmarks on an audio file as you want and quickly jump back and forth between them. It’s also very consistent in how it labels a time stamp, unlike the iOS player which sometimes shows you a positive number (e.g. you’re 1 minute into the file) and sometimes negative (e.g. you’re 10 minutes from the end). The timeline also just gets visibly longer for longer files, so if you’re listening to a 30 minute file and you have to go back 30 seconds, it is as easy to scrub to 30 seconds back as it would be for a 3 minute file. The only downside is that your audio files have to be in a playlist in the Music app, which turned out to be tricky for me as I had the files saved in the Files app, and neither Audiopo NOR the Apple Music app can interface with the Files app. So I needed to transfer the audio files to my Mac, then put them in Music/iTunes, then wait for the playlist to sync to my iPad. It was a bit of a pain. But worth it.

5/5Essential tool for hardcore memorization
I’ve tried a number of tools in the App Store for doing memorization of a monologue parentheses more than 15 minutes of individual dialogue). This app is by far the most efficient and effective one to use. I did purchase so that my files would be loaded all together and it would remember my place. I found that worth a few bucks. The ability to add placeholders and move between and easily and loop small sections or large sections continuously makes it very efficient to memorize. This app has been position as a music memorization in training app, for which is also very effective. But I have found it equally effective and ideally suited for doing narrative memorization as well. The app could use a little bit more in the how to use it category, but the small icons are simple enough to figure out what they mean and once you push the buttons enough times you know their function. It would be helpful if there were a locked mode where The buttons are larger and all you were doing who is moving between them rather than seeing most of the screen real estate go to the overall view of the final in the placeholders.

5/5Love for teaching
However,I have been using this for several years and I pay the $5.49 per year and now it is coming up and saying on some of the songs it’s DSL protected and those songs will not play. It says to go to the pro version and I did that and when I hit the button to apply, it comes up and says I already have it and it will renew this month, but I still have two weeks till it renews. If you have the pro version, it is supposed to be playing those protected files and I never had a problem in the past playing them. It is just now that I’ve started having a problem. Why?

2/5Works, but with a SEVERE Drawback
Yeah, you can change the speed and that’s most definitely the selling point, BUT whenever you exit the app, it’ll close itself. And I don’t mean going through the process of closing the app by swiping up or something like that. I mean, if I pause the audio, go to check a text message, and come back, nine out of ten times, it’ll RESET ITSELF and if you didn’t save your place, you’re screwed. Very rarely, it DOESN’T happen, but that’s even crazier. Hope you’ve got a good memory for time-codes. Even when I’m driving and I just leave my phone idle for less than a minute, I can see the display on the dashboard change from whatever audio file I’m listening to into a generic screen, meaning the program closed itself and now I’ll have to find my spot again. It’s wildly aggravating and while driving, very dangerous. No idea why it does this and if I could reach out to the creator, I’d tell them to fix it because I’m paying the premium and shouldn’t have to risk getting into a wreck for pausing a file for less than a minute to do something.

2/5Disappointed
I purchased the pro version because they advertised it would save my spot during play back. It does not do that, at least I can not get it to work for me. I purchased this to listen to lectures, or other recordings. Some of these recordings are quite long and when the app fails to save your spot in the middle of a two hour lecture, it is extremely frustrating and not worth continuing to use. Also, there is no way to skip forward or backwards, let’s say 10 to 30 seconds at a time to try to find where you left off. You have to manually use the slider which is not precise and frustrating. It’s very important to be able to easily find where you left off, this app fails at that. I do like the ability to adjust playback speed incrementally, but not being able to pick up where you left off easily is a deal breaker.
