   Edit to previous review: After I figured out that my cell signal just wasn’t good enough (worked for everything else?) I was able to get the maps I wanted to upload after moving to a different spot. The next day I did receive a response via email from customer service. Can’t really vouch for using the app yet. Raised from 1 star Previous 1st time review: I decided to pay for an upgrade to try it out and maps won’t download in areas I paid for. Sits there saying it’s downloading, then after having to wait for it to do so, it places a pop-up saying some maps didn’t download properly check storage, no other option. Check storage and there’s almost 200 GB available. Are the maps really that large?

2. 5/5Kept us safe!!!

   I’ve had Aquamap for many years now. Went on a fishing trip off the coast of Block Island last night with my buddies. While the water was flat, we were in THICK fog all night. We used the app to get home in conditions boats loaded with electronics didn’t venture out in. We wouldn’t have made it in otherwise. The currents were moving FAST and pushing the bow all over the place. Being able to plot our heading and make continuous adjustments was critical. Only thing - and it may just be my phone - is that if you stop for a bit it doesn’t immediately register where your bow it pointed, you need to get going approx 10kts or so before you get an accurate “pointer”.    I have used Aqua Map for approximately 7 years. Main use is in San Diego and occasional trips to the Virgin Islands. Best thing is to read the help sections and study the tutorials. Everything is available and very easy to turn features off if not needed for your particular purpose or boating habits. But highly recommended for long and short voyages. Another great feature is the ability to update information regarding anchoring areas, inlets, missing buoys, restaurants, places with good service or bad; you get the idea. The company has progressively improved this product through the years and every time I have contacted them via email I get a quick response and useful feedback. Try it out.

4. 5/5My favorite nautical app

   I’ve been playing with this app for a while and it is my favorite. The charts are clear and attractive, and a cool feature is that I can import waypoints with photos via à KNL file. Not many GPS app can do that. Also, as a small boater, currents are very important and it looks like they just added my feature request to be able to see currents at à further out zoom level. Thanks! This really helps with route planning and timing over à larger area. Before I had to zoom in and pan around looking for these things. Now it is clear when you’re looking at the “big picture” which way the water will be flowing. Integration with Garmin and all sorts of other things like AIS make it à compete app. Also, the annual fee is reasonable compared to other apps. Overall I am quite happy!!

   Aquamap is the best chartplotter I have used — and I have used a lot of them. They all take time to get to know. Aquamap too. But a lot of it is intuitive, and worth the effort. It has a ton of features, including some forms of remote access, great integration of AIS and weather, access to all sort of nautical information, and active captain, which is not quite what it once was but is still helpful. It is also inexpensive — quite remarkably cheap. Best of all, Aquamap clearly was not produced in some basement, by some nerd who was trying to make some money to buy more silly computer games. The team is responsive, listens to ideas (honestly, they had already thought about everything I have suggested to this point) and continues to be innovative. I have convinced many fellow sailers to try it. None has been disappointed.

   OK routing features, Big miss is navigational and routing non-existent for Rainy Lake. I bought US/Canada maps. Rainy has nothing. ????

   paywall very dishonest apparently has apparently has attached itself to another app that claims to no longer be supported by Android newer updates. look at this one because it had to be logged into to use the old app now it's all paywalled.

   what a shame that to create a route is a mission. I wish it was simple like Navionics, It's cluncky. I wish the routes stay not visible unless you select it to be. After creating a new Route all the routes become visible. Tracks visible ok but not all the routes.

   The charts for the coast of BC have many fish icons for closed rockfish areas that cannot be removed. I don't fish. very irritating in my opinion. These are NOT hundreds of fish farms. The GEC registration can be difficult. I have not tested the app on the water yet.
