  1. 5/5Wish I had this growing up!

As a former gymnast, I’ve always been very aware of what I’m eating. I’ve tracked macros for longer than I can remember, and while it’s never really bothered me to log foods, it is a tedious task. I wish I had this app back then. To have something less rigid and more friendly takes the pressure off and actually makes all of this fun. Beyond that, the more exciting part is the way that Alma can take the information and share what it means and what actionable steps can be taken. What’s the point of all this data if I don’t know what it means? Being proactive and making adjustments on the fly as we continue to learn is amazing. Thank you, Alma!

  2. 4/5Rapid Marked Improvement

My initial review is left below, so folks can understand the amount of progress the developer has made in such a short period of time. This app has genuinely improved quite a bit since I installed it. The developer is quite active and engaged. More than any other developer I’ve interacted with through the App Store. Many of the food entry issues have been eliminated. In fact, it is a downright smooth process now. AI entry makes tracking easy and therefore leads to better results with understanding your food intake. The Alma score is getting better and resetting correctly, which were needed fixes. The Alma coach is surprisingly helpful. Overall in its current state, it’s great and highly recommended. I think it is probably the best food tracker for removing the tedium of food entry. Its use has become a cornerstone of my day unlike all the other food trackers I’ve tried. Original review below: I bought this on a lark because of the potential. The tracking aspect when it works is a major time saver. Those potentially interested in using this app and subscribing should know that the tracker will magically erase food items previously entered. It will log items at incorrect times frequently. The Alma score doesn’t reset and when you ask the coach it will often gaslight you until you ask it to ACTUALLY look at the data. The nutritional information is always slightly off, so prepare to adjust the numbers if precision is desired. If the developers ever figure out how to eliminate these issues this has the potential to be a really great app. As it stands today, I’d only use as an experiment or those not interested in genuine accurate tracking. We’ll see how it develops. 🙏🏼

  3. 5/5Incredibly supportive and insightful nutrition tracking

I really appreciate the ai support to input meals by text or voice, the various ways the app offers advice and guidance towards your goals, takes the guesswork out of how to eat daily to support your athletic needs. I am not sure I agree with the points system that seem to label various foods as healthy vs unhealthy (healthy eating is not just about function and numbers and also think it’s important to prevent development of eating disorders) but do appreciate the efforts to bring awareness to types/quality of food for deep long term health.

  4. 1/5Read this before you subscribe

One star. The core feature works badly, and everything around it breaks weekly, sometimes, daily. I subscribed for Apple Health sync. It did not work at all for my first week. After I reported it, it started working — badly. Data arrives out of sync and doesn't reconcile. In a nutrition tracker, unreliable data is worse than no data: you don't know to correct what you don't know is wrong. More than a dozen bug reports in seven days, every one confirmed legitimate by support. AI memory failures. Food logged silently as nothing. Identical foods identified differently between entries. Wrong items logged outright. And every update fixed something while breaking something else. After one release the keyboard vanished from chat entry after a single message, unrecoverable, in a flow I'd been using heavily the day before. That is not an early product finding its footing — that's regression in production on core paths, week after week. $99 a year to be an unpaid QA channel. The founder answers personally and extended my trial when I escalated, which I'll credit honestly. Responsiveness isn't reliability. Know what you’re typing into. This is an AI product built around a chat assistant, and it prompts for health details — hydration, digestion, MEDICATIONS, GLP-1 use — as advertised features. Per their own terms, support personnel can access user data. Worth noting: bug reports here are capped at 500 characters, and mine were resolved without anyone ever asking me a follow-up question or for steps to reproduce. Draw your own conclusion about how much of your session they’re looking at, and read the terms before you enter anything sensitive. Skip it for now.

  5. 5/5Great app for food tracking and motivation

This app is so easy to use, photos of food are actually tracked accurately more than other apps I’ve tried. The AI coach is great, very conversational and accurate. You can even talk to it to log food. The food database is vast and I’ve only had one thing it couldn’t find so it had me add the details which was very easy. Lots of choices for goals and it will also track challenges like upcoming races and takes that into consideration for you goals each week. Support is also great.
