5/5Greater Security, Convenience, & Peace of Mind
We were going to buy an Aladdin remote garage door opener add on for our existing chain drive opener but we also wanted a battery backup so it was just a better option to spend some extra money to get a new opener with everything we wanted. We knew we would be able to make sure the door was closed without turning around and going home when we were half way down the street but we love how many other times this helped out like when we are around the corner taking the dog for a quick bathroom walk and we come across a friend and we get invited in. We don’t need to go back as we simple close the door with the phone. I can’t tell you how many times we have checked the garage door from in bed after reading a book and before going to bed. What’s more, we love that you can turn off the power to the door at night so we do not have to worry about someone figuring out the Passcode to the wall mounted remote. We have already had the opportunity to utilize the battery backup when the power went out during a recent storm and we were very happy to be able to get out of the car inside the garage instead of in the poring rain. We hadn’t even thought of it as we we have had our chain drive so long but this new belt drive opener is insanely quiet. It is a good thing we can look on the phone to see if the door is closed because we can no longer hear it close inside the house. Now that we sprayed some silicone on the wheels you can barely hear it in the garage. On sale this was just over $200 and rather easy to install so we didn’t have to hire someone to install it. We simply love it! Dollar for dollar it was the best investment we have made this year!

5/5Better than I thought !!
We use it all the time. And today we had a strange thing happen. Door of garage opened by itself at 12:20 pm. Okay counterclaim horn and it opened. I call my adult son He is my room doing who knows what. Any how I am outside trying to figure what is going on and agsinn1/2 later it happens on my side door closes on my side ci had opened it trying to figure if there is again a problem. To make this shorter. The history told us what happened and whether a remote or electrical button turned it on. Said remote. I know my car didn’t do it. His Aladdin remote was in his car. Anyhow after making an appointment for service. I go upstairs to get the other remote and I see my extra remote in the lock box where I store papers. And it is squished forward. So finally corner my son and wanted to know did he open lockbox. Because he just got his new passport. He finally tells me he opened it twice. Both times it not intended to. But never realized he had caused it. So your best feature is the history. And works like a charm. Yes. I like it and glad we got it. The Aladdin WiFi was never the cause. The remote in box was. We moved it!!!

4/5Constantly having to reprogram
Idk if this is an app issue or equipment issue. I call and am told its app or that I should disconnect my door for 3 days and call back. There needs to be an override to the disabled status. The app itself is easy to use but the install text is not accurate in the beginning of the install set up. The Retrofit software and equipment is a pain for sure. Shows door status is online, wifi excellent. Shows signal strong, status connected and battery level is good. Yet the door is disabled constantly and must reprogram each time. Using the wall control doesn’t change it from being disabled. Also the door likes to open on its own continually and always shows it is opened via Local when no one has accessed it. Checked wires they are tight, checked garage sensors, there is no obstruction. Multiple times the door has opened and closed repeatedly (I have it set to close after 20 min) in the middle of the night while we are sleeping, sometimes during the daytime after we leave for school and work or while we are out of town. Of course the app will end up disabled and I’m left with an open garage until I can find a neighbor to close. This is frustrating.

3/5Randomly goes offline
When it works it’s great. I’m able to let my housekeeper in via my phone. However it has randomly gone offline three times in the last three months. Most recently twice this week. The first time I went through all the steps to reconnect, but it never did. I finally gave up and thought we would never be able to use this app to open it and then it suddenly starts working again for no reason. Now this week it’s randomly gone off-line …it’ll come back on and then a day later I noticed I’m not getting notifications and it’s off-line. Calling the company is completely useless because they just have you try to go through the steps to reset it to Wi-Fi, which is obviously not the issue if it can randomly come on and off by itself. Update: it’s been several months since I’ve written this review and I’m still having the same problem goes on and off line for no reason whatsoever.

2/5When it works, I love it, but….
I use Aladdin Connect to control 3 new Genie openers. When this app works, I like it very much and it can be very useful. However, in the week or so that I’ve been using it, various repeating app errors cause me to question its reliability. I have a reliable wifi mesh system with a wifi AP in my garage about 15 feet away. This AP has a strong connection back to the rest of the mesh. All the door sensors have line-of-sight to the Aladdin DCM. Approximately 75% of the time the app works as advertised. But for the other 25% of the time, 3 app errors tend to reoccur. The most prevalent error is cluster_max_load, next is a generic “something went wrong” dialog and finally occasionally all my doors temporarily disappear from the app. The app does not work at all when any of these 3 errors occur. Even when the app is functional, it often continues to show that a door is still in the process of completing a request 3-5 minutes after successfully opening or closing a door. As things currently stand, I’m not confident that this app will work when I really need it. Update: now all my door activity history is missing along with all my configuration (rules and additional users, etc.) Emailed support 24 hours ago and am awaiting their reply. Changed rating down to 2 stars.
