I always fly air new Zealand at least two to three times a year minus the Covid years in which I was unable to fly . I always book premium economy aisle seat and pay for it , my way there from Los Angelo’s to Auckland went fine with no problems , however on my return I was very upset to learn that my seat had been changed from 24j to 27 E In the middle I have bathroom issues that is why I like aisle seating I asked the gentleman to kindly give me back my original seat however he wouldn’t and made it a big deal and was not the least helpful when I explained my situation he just went on to say the flight was sold out , I was so upset that I didn’t eat or drink anything on the way home so I wouldn’t have to use the bathroom to embarrass myself or other passengers I feel he could’ve showed a little compassion and try to help me out and on top of that I still haven’t gotten my airpoints or credit for my flight back to USA , I will be traveling in November and hope that I don’t get that sort of experience again

1/5Waste of time
Just spent almost an hour trying to book via the Air NZ app. At the last moment when it was time to pay the app rejected my booking saying I need to call Air NZ to finish the booking, which will incur an additional fee. What a waste of my time as a consumer. It seems that time after time these awful companies create fat corporate cats at the expense of consumers. We constantly have to deal with increasing fees and awful wastages of time navigating websites and apps that are dysfunctional and quite frankly anger inducing. Now I have to wait for a customer service rep from Air NZ to call me back and I have to be polite to them, which I will be. But I can understand others that might yell and abuse customer service reps. It’s because Air NZ doesn’t really care about providing the best customer service possible. They only care about charging me extra dollars here and there for seat selection, an extra card fee at check out to bring my final total up a few hundred dollars. That’s what they really care about. Not us. Not the passengers. Unless you fly business or premium economy. Even with air travel it’s the haves and have nots. It’s all about money. That’s all these airlines want. What’s in my wallet. They don’t care about anyone or anything. Our time is worthless to them. Our dignity is worthless. Money talks in NZ. Nothing else matters anymore.

My husband and I just flew in from Houston to Auckland and had the best experience. My husband was in business class because his back won’t let him sleep in a regular seat without a week in traction. He may never fly coach again. I was in Premium Economy and was pampered beyond my expectations. I had a water bottle, pillow, blanket, full sized headphones and a care package at my seat. The package included a toothbrush, toothpaste, hand cream, pen, earbuds, and a pair of socks. The good was very impressive and the drinks flowed. I had a nice Cabernet with my dinner and they immediately added bubbles to my OJ in the morning when I joked that I’d prefer a mimosa. A+.

1/5Needs more functionality!
This app pales against other airlines. This is what it needs: Memory of previous (which can often correspond with your most popular) searches that you can click on right away without having to type out the name of each airport yet again (unnecessarily time-consuming); Memory of your last search so you can get right back to it if you got interrupted or needed to re-clarify dates etc. I’ve changed my phone # several times in my profile but my old phone number still populates; Ability to modify the flight details not just at the beginning of the booking, but right up until the end, right on payment page, including adding bags; Ability to see all the available seats, not just the class you’ve clicked on—you could then easily decide if you want to move up or down a class without having to go back 4 screens; Get rid of the big X at top left corner—it looks just like a “close pop-up window” X—but instead it closes and loses your whole booking and you have to start all over again (with no memory (see above)); Need a button where you can look at and manage all your pending flights you have booked—there is no way to do this unless you go back to your email confirmation and click from there!! Also a button where you can look at all past flights and print receipts for business expense purposes; Add to subject line of emails: “AIR NZ” flight blah blah. Not just “NZ” Flight. Makes it impossible to search your emails for your flights as you have to put in NZ and then ALL your emails will pop up. Anyhow it’s terrible for your branding not to put AIR NZ! PLEASE PLEASE ADD THE ABOVE FUNCTIONALITIES TO YOUR APP. I AM A BUSINESS PERSON AND THE ABOVE WOULD SAVE PEOPLE LIKE ME ALOT OF TIME AND EFFORT, STREAMLINE AND IMPROVE YOUR APP AND HELP YOUR REPUTATION

3/5App is quirky
The app is quirky and less developed than other airlines. For example I had a seat assigned when I got the ticket but I tried two different days to see if there were any seats available that I preferred and the app would not let me check only saying that it was not available and I would have a seat assigned at checkin. When checking in for the boarding pass o got the same message. The availability to check any entry requirements from the app also kept sending me to strange pages that were not related. Another issue on check in it asks you to verify information (date of birth and date of passport expiry and passport number) but then masks it with asterisks so the only way to check it is to edit it to make sure the correct data is there. Overall I would use another airline if available rather than NZA. This is what happens when it becomes more important for an airline to sell other non airline related items such as airport transfers and cars and hotels instead of putting development money in their core business.

          "body": "My husband and I just flew in from Houston to Auckland and had the best experience. My husband was in business class because his back won’t let him sleep in a regular seat without a week in traction. He may never fly coach again. I was in Premium Economy and was pampered beyond my expectations. I had a water bottle, pillow, blanket, full sized headphones and a care package at my seat. The package included a toothbrush, toothpaste, hand cream, pen, earbuds, and a pair of socks. The good was very impressive and the drinks flowed. I had a nice Cabernet with my dinner and they immediately added bubbles to my OJ in the morning when I joked that I’d prefer a mimosa. A+.",

          "body": "This app pales against other airlines. This is what it needs: Memory of previous (which can often correspond with your most popular) searches that you can click on right away without having to type out the name of each airport yet again (unnecessarily time-consuming); Memory of your last search so you can get right back to it if you got interrupted or needed to re-clarify dates etc. I’ve changed my phone # several times in my profile but my old phone number still populates; Ability to modify the flight details not just at the beginning of the booking, but right up until the end, right on payment page, including adding bags; Ability to see all the available seats, not just the class you’ve clicked on—you could then easily decide if you want to move up or down a class without having to go back 4 screens; Get rid of the big X at top left corner—it looks just like a “close pop-up window” X—but instead it closes and loses your whole booking and you have to start all over again (with no memory (see above)); Need a button where you can look at and manage all your pending flights you have booked—there is no way to do this unless you go back to your email confirmation and click from there!! Also a button where you can look at all past flights and print receipts for business expense purposes; Add to subject line of emails: “AIR NZ” flight blah blah. Not just “NZ” Flight. Makes it impossible to search your emails for your flights as you have to put in NZ and then ALL your emails will pop up. Anyhow it’s terrible for your branding not to put AIR NZ! PLEASE PLEASE ADD THE ABOVE FUNCTIONALITIES TO YOUR APP. I AM A BUSINESS PERSON AND THE ABOVE WOULD SAVE PEOPLE LIKE ME ALOT OF TIME AND EFFORT, STREAMLINE AND IMPROVE YOUR APP AND HELP YOUR REPUTATION",

          "body": "The app is quirky and less developed than other airlines. For example I had a seat assigned when I got the ticket but I tried two different days to see if there were any seats available that I preferred and the app would not let me check only saying that it was not available and I would have a seat assigned at checkin. When checking in for the boarding pass o got the same message. The availability to check any entry requirements from the app also kept sending me to strange pages that were not related. Another issue on check in it asks you to verify information (date of birth and date of passport expiry and passport number) but then masks it with asterisks so the only way to check it is to edit it to make sure the correct data is there. Overall I would use another airline if available rather than NZA. This is what happens when it becomes more important for an airline to sell other non airline related items such as airport transfers and cars and hotels instead of putting development money in their core business.",
