1. 4/5An incredible tool but can hinder trust too

   This app has done a great job of discouraging bad choices and giving my spouse peace of mind. However, one challenge I find is a LOT of false alarms. Several questionable alerts came up the other day which sent my spouse into a temporary panic, because of a very normal app, theChive, can have pictures of women in bikinis, but isn’t the majority of their content. I did not know this, as I had only reviewed a compilation of “The customer isn’t always right” but it was hard to regain trust after the alerts were sent. Another example was a movie I was reading about; I wanted to know if it was based on a true story or not. The movie itself has no sexual content whatsoever, but the article I read sent a rather cryptic questionable activity alert to my spouse, again. I sent her a screenshot of my activity at that moment and all was well, so a little more polishing or careful reporting would be appreciated.

   I like how this app sends a full browser history report instead of merely trying to block all explicit content (fool’s gold, in my opinion). The app flags questionsble content and has an optional instant alerts function to send immediate updates to accountability partners (aside from general daily or weekly reports of internet usage). I have had Accountable2You on my phone and Chromebook for a year now and plan to renew for another year. $84 is much cheaper than the physical, emotional, and spiritual damage of pornography. Accountability doesn’t make you bulletproof; where there’s a will there’s a way. The only way to become bulletproof is to change your heart. Think of accountability as an extra layer of deterrence, a check/balance that facilitates wise decisions. An accountable person avoids unnecessary battles and is better equipped to deal with those necessary ones. Thank you to the author of this app and others like them who have invested their time and skills to create products that promote human flourishing.

3. 3/5Excellent protection but laggy VPN

   I was just promoted to leave a review for A2U. I am very thankful to have found an app that does what Covenant Eyes used to do - monitor not only images but also text (my main area of struggle). I need this type of accountability and covering. The frustrating thing with the iOS versions of the app is the extremely slow loading rates for everything on the internet. So I’m getting a good patience-builder with the app as well. Pretty much every site work but takes quite a long time to load relative to speeds without the VPN. I am hopeful that this can be resolved as it may interfere with apps that I need during the school year. In summary: the app does exactly what it promises and what I need, but at the cost of efficient internet speeds. Still worth it to me, but I do hope it can be improved.

4. 1/5Extremely Disappointed.

   If I could give zero stars I would. I am extremely disappointed in A2U services and response. I have been a user since October 2024 and have relied on the promised services to monitor and report ALL app usages and to browser services. However, this company does not provide that. For several months they have not reported pornographic use on my partners phone. I have paid for their service to report ALL usage of that content, and yet they failed to do so. Oh but they “report” when “secret antiperspirant” was used. I’m extremely disappointed and upset by the lackluster response I received from the company. Instead of receiving a FULL refund, I was issued only a partial. I paid for their services to report ALL usages of inappropriate content and that was not delivered. I also appreciated them using AI slop to respond to me. I would and will never recommend this product to anybody else. Families, couples, wives, husbands, parents, if you are searching for an accountability app to use, find something different. They are unreliable and don’t deliver what services you pay for.

5. 2/5So glitchy and internet pages or links won’t load

   Before the update, the app was a bit glitchy with podcasts. I had to close the podcast page 2-4 times to get it to start. Now since the update, it’s gotten so much worse. I have to close the podcast page 5-10 times before I can get it to play. I *sometimes* have to exit pages on chrome 5-10 times to get a page to load. And trying to click a link from somewhere can take long, I need to exit and click in again. I will say that on rare occasions all does work smoothly. Besides the recent glitching, I’ve been happy with the service and will continue to pay for it. I like it better than the competitors for what they offer. I appreciate that it’s compatible with safari and you don’t have to use a special browser. It works great on desktop, but for the iPhone and iPad it’s been frustratingly glitchy for me. Maybe a new update is in the works?
