Dating Apps
Definition
A first meeting arranged through a profile is a safety problem before it is a romance problem. Dating apps show who is nearby or aligned on a few questions, then move the chat off the discovery grid. They are not Social networking: the audience is strangers, and the risk model is different. Useful listings say how discovery is ranked, whether a like is visible, and what happens to photos after you delete the account. Boosts and paywalls that hide who liked you are the product, not a side feature. Location precision and screenshot warnings belong in the constraints, not the marketing.
Common tasks
- Filter people by distance, age and a few deal-breakers
- Start a chat after a mutual like
- Report or block a profile
- Hide the app icon or last-active time
Common constraints
- Most of who liked you is often locked behind a paid tier
- Location can be inferred even when you hide the city
- Deleting the app does not always delete photos on the server
