1. 5/5Very PoorApp. Bombards you with commercials

   I've been using this app for several years, and have watched it developed into a reliable app, logically organized, and optimally featured app. It has been my go-to app for local weather and news casts even when I am out of the country and I want to know what's going on back home. The information flowed logically, allowed expansion to full screen and took you right to what you wanted to see. This last version destroyed all of that. It is nearly useless. Every time you want to see anything, like forecast videos, radar, 5-day forecast, etc, you are forced to watch a 30-second, high pressure, boosted audio commercial before you can see the information you used the app for in the first place. And there is no way to skip the commercial. You MUST watch it ALL. The main menus has likewise been poorly redesigned. You see little horizontal Windows of text or a small image, and when the user clicks on the window, and sits through the inane commercial, the information stays in the little window, showing about 3-4 sentences. The user CANNOT enlarge this window to see the entire text. This is against best practices of human factor engineering. Comprehension decreases as the amount of the text of a story is shown. If you are looking for information about an approaching tropical system, getting screamed at for 30 seconds, plus trying to read the bulletin through that narrow strip of a window is not very effective. The IT manager who thought this format and redesign was a great idea knows nothing about apps, mobile devices or interface design at all. If WLOX designers came up with this, fire them and get someone who knows what they are doing. If, however, this is attempt to drive people back to watching their TV newscasts, it's highly effective give. Di not install this app until these problems are solved. Unless you want to be screamed at repeatedly when you just want to see if it's going to rain tonight.

   I always keep the WLOX weather app on my phone. Proves to be useful all the time. We have a kid in high school so band events after school rehearsals Friday football games Saturday competitions etc. and this app always helps me to see how old address and how to be prepared for those events. Thank you WOX. And I always watch WLOX in the morning also.

3. 3/5Future cast is terrible

   Love the WLOX weather team and rely on them for their updates. But this app does them no justice. The 24hr futurecast radar only goes 12 hours and freezes. This has been an issue for well over 6 months and it still hasn’t been fixed. When I messaged Eric Jeansonne about the issue, he said they have no control over the app. That’s pretty sad that the Chief Meteorologist has zero say in the quality of the weather app.

4. 2/5The previous versions were better

   Since this app updated to the current version and style I don’t even get all the stories that should be on it. I also follow WLOX on Facebook and I see stories there that I’m not even able to find on the app. Also, previous versions had a picture beside the heading of the story. This version is just a bland looking story title. The current version is ok if local news isn’t much of an interest to you, but if that’s the case, I recommend using another app that’s better organized with less ads.

5. 1/5Allen Toyota must sponsor this app

   When I look for a weather app, especially one that is supposed to offer targeted, local, and breaking weather stories, I look for something that gets to the gist of the issues quickly. Having to endure 15 seconds of the same Allen Toyota video(which cannot be skipped) causes this app to be less competitive than other mainstream weather apps. And after the mandatory advertisement video, many concerning reports are simply a repeat of the weather forecaster. Updated information is slow to come by. I think I’ll change to weather underground again.
