3/5Disappointed
I was disappointed that albergues were not reviewed. I found the Wise Pilgrim for the Camino France had reviews of albergues that were extremely helpful. The other parts of the app were just fine.

1/5Need much improvement
This is not even close to the Camino Frances app. Missing tons of albergues. Interactive map is very wrong and could be harmful if you try and follow it.

5.10.1
Big update for the start of Summer. As more and more albergues are adopting rest days of their own, I have improved the notice that appears. It will not warn you if the albergue is closed today or tomorrow.
-
5.3.0
Content Update: Updated opened/closed, as well as prices. Better maps: Now with the option to turn off map markers and a better selector for map types. Feature Update: Introducing the WhatsApp Message Maker: A simple tool to help you initiate a conversation with the albergue or hotel owner to check for availability and request a reservation. It automatically translates what you need into a short request, and from their you can finish the deal directly with the property owner.

5.4.0
This release introduces a dark mode for lights out albergue users. And it greatly cleans up the UX to make more content more visible. There are a few new photos from a recent camino, and minor changes to prices and availability. Thank you everyone for all of the comments you leave within the app!

-
5.5.1
New feature shows whether an albergue is CURRENTLY open, closed, or about to open/close. Handy for pilgrims walking in the shoulder season and winter.

5.6.0
This update does two things at the same time. It introduces the ability to send updates 'Over the air' meaning that if there is a change in telephone number, or price, or opening hours of your accommodation I can get them to you faster. The is important at the moment since the hiking season is beginning and many albergues are making last minute changes. New routes will still be delivered via app store updates. -and- It eliminates a minor bug that annoyed me greatly. Everything else remains as awesome as always.
-
5.6.3
Minor bug fixes, including a few albergues which did not appear on the map view.

5.9.1
The first major update of the year, this version includes updated pricing and opening seasons. Under the hood are several performance changes, with a thorough rewrite of the code to make sure that all devices are working properly. AND it introduces a new feature which allows pilgrims to inform 'El Sabio, the Wise Pilgrim Bot' about the status of albergues, so you can help your fellow pilgrims to know what albergues are full.
-

Albergue prices and accommodation details refreshed throughout the guide. Buen Camino!

New: Notes. Leave yourself a note on any town, albergue, or stop on the route, or drop a pin on the map — water, viewpoints, photo spots, places you want to return to. They gather on one page in order along the Camino, ready to search and export, and stay private on your phone. And if you spot a price change or a closure, you can now report it to me right from the listing. Buen Camino. — Michael

6.2.12
This release brings the map to life. Tap the new Layers button for points of interest — churches, monuments and castles from Wikipedia, plus drinking fountains, viewpoints, ruins, picnic areas and pharmacies along your route, each with its own info card. I've redrawn every map pin for a cleaner look, pilgrim comments now appear in your language wherever I have a translation, and the map no longer snaps back to your location while you look ahead. Buen Camino.

6.2.13
A new Wildfire Map. Tap the Layers button and switch on Wildfires to see active fires across Spain and Portugal — updated daily from the EU's Copernicus fire service — plus this season's burnt areas along your route. I've also refreshed the route tracks with cleaner elevation profiles and a few corrections, updated a number of albergues with the latest information I have, and fixed a few bugs along the way. Buen Camino.

6.2.15
A big update this time around. New on the map: a 6th style — 3D — to help you get your bearings in the bigger cities. And every map style now responds to a two-finger tilt, so you can lean the map back and look off into the distance to see what's ahead. If you plan with the itinerary, there's a lot here for you: - Dates are now supported, including multi-night stays in the same town. - The stage banners at the start and end of each day tell you far more now. - Notes you add in the online planner come along for the ride — they import straight into the app. - City pages now show what you've booked, whether it's confirmed, and how you booked it. - The map can walk you through your itinerary one stage at a time. And the route page handles those long lists better — it trims itself at your starting point, with an easy tap to bring the earlier places back whenever you want them.

6.2.7
Some of you opened the offline map and found... an empty world. The markers had wandered off on certain devices. I rounded them up, gave them a stern talking-to, and pinned them back where they belong. Your offline map is properly populated again. Plus a fix for pilgrims counting in miles — distances now read right across all screens.

You can now share your Camino with other pilgrims — send your itinerary and notes by QR code or file, and import theirs just as easily. You can also back up your plan and notes to a file, so they're safe if you change phones. Thanks for walking with Wise Pilgrim. Buen Camino!
