   Unpredictable and unreliable. The company that I work for requires GPS logging for mileage tracking and this app isn’t reliable. Therefore, my reimbursement is affected. The lack of reliability of this app costs me money, time and aggravation!!!! Wheels should either fix the app or stop providing the service. I’ve used it for four years now and have had the same results and get the same response from Wheels, “our developers are working on it.” What have they been doing for the past four years? The recent updates have done nothing to make the app easier to use, they just update the graphics of the logo. There are prompts on when I log in to ‘update authorization.’ When I click on it to update, I get “Unexpected Error…”. These types of errors are very common with the app. Again, Wheels provides no real answers. Do something about this, Wheels! Like I mentioned above, if you can’t provide the software for the service, don’t offer the service! I’m sure the company that I work for is paying good money for the service built around this barely usable app.

2. 2/5It does not make an already annoying task less annoying

   It’s clear this app was not designed by people that travel for work. If it was, then it wouldn’t auto log a flight as a 700 mile drive. 🤦‍♂️ I’ve had to disable the GPS logging. Even when I wasn’t actively logging a trip, the app decided to log one anyway, which became obvious when it logged the miles of a recent flight. I recognize that this is a complex task for the developers, but nobody wants another app to baby sit. Fortunately, you can just turn off the GPS access and manually log your trips. And sadly, this is easier and less frustrating than trying to decipher the collective mess of trips the app auto logs. I just wish they would make manual trip logging easier… maybe utilize the Siri API, or extend the app into Apple Shortcuts app, or make a CarPlay app. Also, do we need to login every time? Face ID is fast, but it just adds another frustrating delay to an already slow app. No data in this app is so secure and sensitive that I should need to authenticate every time I open it. I’m already on my iPhone that I’ve unlocked with Face ID or a passcode. Even if someone swiped my iPhone out of my hands while it was unlocked, they’re not going to find anything of value in a trip logging app. Maybe instead of making the whole app secure, they could just make viewing the log history secure? Also, when Wheels decides it’s time to change your password, they don’t warn you… you’ll just try and login one day and it says your password is wrong. It’s not. They just don’t know how to prompt for a password refresh. Finally, don’t travel on Sunday. Why? Because the app/service is down for the ENTIRE DAY while they do maintenance.

   I have to use this app as part of my employer’s rollout of the IRS FAVR program. If I had a choice to find and use another app, I would definitely do that. At this point, I’ve been using the app for almost a full year and although they have released occasional updates, none of the updates seem to be targeted toward improving the experience of the end user and that’s because the end user is not their customer; the employer is their customer. Like other reviewers have already pointed out, don’t bother with GPS tracking; you’ll spend more time fixing the entries than if you just manually log your miles. If developers are actually reading these and want feedback, please make the app faster. You could start by removing the login requirements for the app; if somebody manages to snatch my unlocked iPhone out of my hands, logging a trip in the Wheels app is not something I’m worried about the thief doing.

4. 3/5Functional but frustrating

   It’s always felt like too many clicks and loading screens when first opening the app before I can use it to track my trips. After updating it this morning, it feels like it’s quicker, but now it logs me out if I open another app between trips, so I have to go through them again and again if I’m out running errands. Update team: Please just let me open up the app and use it so I can get moving; it’s very frustrating being ready to go but having to stop and wait for an app to load, again and again.

5. 2/5Poor Trip Log

   Everything else is fine but your trip logging is not the greatest. I drove 265 miles and it failed to track those miles. I have noticed that if the wheels app is running for tracking miles it cause other apps (Internet, mail, etc) to stop responding; not sure if it has to do with the gps tracking or LTE usage. It takes forever for it know if the vehicle has stopped moving. If I am making several stops per day it will only catch my first departure and my last arrival. Can you guys resolve this please? Maybe have it be integrated with google maps.
